Mantic’s Deadzone Heads Towards The Final Weekend!
May 31, 2013 by brennon
Mantic Games are continuing with their Deadzone Kickstarter but it's not going to last forever! The final weekend is approaching so get your pledges ready and join in for loads of awesome extras...
Beta rules playthrough with the epic James M. Hewitt above too!
Here's some talk from Mantic...
"The Deadzone Kickstarter is hurtling towards its finale this weekend, and the next stretch goals have now been unveiled, including several awesome additions to the Plague faction!
The new Faction Booster includes some long-ranged support in the form of a mortar team and third-stage plague trooper with grenade launcher, but the real stars are the Plague Swarm and the Plague Teraton - no, it's not just humans that can be infected!
Deadzone ends at midnight this Sunday (BST), which means time is running out to get your hands on an amazing deal!"
As you can see there are plenty of awesome additions to come for this Kickstarter including those epic Plague troops. The sweet spot Strike Team bundle with this fundraiser nets you over seventy models, terrain, the rules and even an e-book! That's before you add on optional extras.
From what we've seen so far these are some of the best models Mantic has produced and it's a great step in the right direction. Also if you haven't already check out the gameplay video attached above.
Get pledging!

Sharkaroserus! I spot it first Warren 😛
Like the previous Mantic Kickstarters, this has been great fun and getting Ronnie on the Comments for hours at a time is for me the sign of the true gamer and a shrewd businessman. The pledgers have been able to give feedback and ideas (LOTS of ideas) throughout and no doubt more will appear before the end.
I like the modular, skull, eagles and candlestick-free terrain: it can be used for ANYTHING, built in as many ways as your imagination can take it (think LEGO in SPACE!).
The new Enforcers – especially the guys with the shields: frankly they make Space Marines look like refugees from the 1970’s in bellbottom trousers.
Rebels – multi-racial with potential for some extremely interesting combat – teleporting teratons – defend against that!
Forge Fathers – getting new sculpts and types and weapons – all good!
Asterians – ruthless, emotionless (maybe) – and packing firepower along with mobile shields. Nice sculpts – like the Dreadball Praetorian but with guns. And jumppacks…
Plague – infinite variety could be available here eventually – we already now that Teratons and humans can get it so maybe it can morph/mutate/evolve to ensnare others
Rulesets – yes – PLURAL! Jake has created so many variations to facilitate everything from solo play to multi-player on a variety of board sizes and set ups. I have played Alpha Rules a few times and like Dreadball, you get the general idea very quickly. I have not had a full Beta game yet but feedback on the KS comments is good.
If you have a spare few minutes, come and have a look. You would need to be MAD not to check out what has the potential to become an absolutely huge gaming paradigm AND all of the terraina and minis will be compatible with Warpath. Its a win-win-win-win.
And they have fish-men, loading what looks like a space-bazooka! Who wouldn’t want one of those?
….I forgot I didn’t attach the Beta Demo video lol. It’s err…now above 😉
