Love everything about this game, the scale, the models, the epicness. Will definitely be picking this up.
Recently picked a couple of starter sets up and the cityscape, and a couple of hours later had a full 6×4 board of scenery and two built forces to play with. For a lazy git like me it’s perfect. Can’t believe how good it looks with such minimal effort. It’s a similar story with the painting as well.
I have to say this is the most desirable prize I’ve seen on BOW!
PHR has to be the poster faction for DZC!
Stunning models!!! I think I’ll sale my Vampire Counts to buy these 🙂
I think that the hades model is one of the best minatures I have seen.
Such a beautiful game. Really want to starter box (does anyone know when they are going to announce the winner of that btw?). Can’t wait to get man little mits on to this :). Good work everyone at Hawk Wargames.
with the starter set and new faction this game is starting to look very good.
man i love drop zone commander, i went on a crazy buying spree last week end and bought up almost every model i could, i am the soul reason why its now hard to find drop zone commander in the area hehe… i cant wait to see what else they come out with, i hope they’ll be full 18 wheelers with giant home made cannons on it, trains or even poorly made old planes as their fighters, i’ll be watching closely 🙂
Perhaps I’ve missed it but have the winners of the Nam Week been announced?
seeing those resistance minis makes me want to make some ‘the last of us’ inspired terrain
Still can’t get over that tank i love it.
I love the game. I haven´t played it :(- yet.

I still have to wait, until the starter comes out.
I have printed out and build every building so far the moment they went on the website, I even made bigger and smaller buildings:
I planed to save some money for the big army, but the money was´t there- with the starter box- I finally have a way to get into the game.
Not with my first choice of army (that would be the Shaltai), but the second best choice for me and an army for my flatmate. His first choice would be the PHR 😉
apparently links won´t do it- I guess I have to use the terrainarama the first time.
I´m sorry for the spamming, it was not intended.
this is a game that I could really see myself getting into
You did it! You got me to sign up for backstage. And it’s definitely worth it.
I was thinking of going with Scourge. I have an interesting not-smudgy-and-horrible paintscheme in mind for them.
But the Resistance looks and sounds very appealing.
Same here, it drew me into a backstage pass. DZC is a gem of a game.
I have a growing army of Scourge, you won´t be disappointed with collecting them! Every time I look at the models I´m amazed at how well done they are made. Even with my simple painting skills, they look fantastic.
Me too! You gotta love the recent DZC coverage and it has convinced me to take the plunge and get backstage membership.
Yea the resistance is looking like a faction i can get behind I’m a sucker for anything flame thrower-ish,
would love to get my hands on the PHR force. such beautiful mini’s!!!!
Just love this guys can’t wait for my starter box set to arrive
It’s so great to hear the reasons behind how the different armies have been designed, how their tactics work and just the thoughts that has gone into the background.
I am seriously contemplating making this another game I collect, although my favourite faction aesthetically is the Shaltari, the PHR are definitely a close second.
As an aside, when will the winners for Nam Week be announced?
I have a liking for the “underdogs” and the Human Resistance sound just like that kind of army. They also lend themselves to “gaming in the gaps” and the creation of a personalised army with its own little history within the main background.
Really nice show, thanks for focusing on the wonderful game that is DCZ this weekender.
I hope that a DZC week will follow on BoW, perhaps coinciding with the release of the 2-player starter set. Watching a demo game was what got me hooked not to long ago. The Resistance has the potential to be a second army, loving Dave´s ideas. Especially the Leviathan – I want´s itsssssss!
It is truly a wonderful time to be a wargamer!
looking forward to this being on sale
its so nice to find a games company that is willing to be open about their future plans. Also future looking A10 Warthogs and helicopters in a certain vidio game style would be so cool.
awesome game, really looking forward to the resistance.
Dropzone is so cool, have met Dave and the team a couple of times and they really give you the time of day and are passionate about talking about dzc. A true ambassador of our hobby just like the bow team. Thanks guys.
DROPZONE COMMANDER WEEK! THE PEOPLE DEMAND IT!!
Loved these two weekender shows its been great to here from a designer his thoughts and ideas ,would be great to see a play test on cam
Just when I thought I can’t possibly buy yet another games system this starter set comes out with some uber cool models. Love the idea of the buildings etc and just seems simple to get into. Any idea of the learning curve involved as would be keen to into my 10yr old son to this as it is right up his street with sci-fi tanks, alien blasting and zooming stuff about!
The learning curve is not steep, I´d reckon a 10 year old could learn the basic principles. I myself was about 10 years old when I learned how to play Warhammer, which has a rather more complex (and imo convoluted) rules system.
DZC is really intuitive, with few models when playing with starters and it is fairly quick,. First game has been between 2-3 hours, including rules rundown. Hope you and your son have a great time playing it!
This plastic set deserves to be a massive hit for Hawk. Having skimmed the v1.0 rulebook and watched these 2 vids I think I’d enjoy playing Scourge the most – even though I reckon PHR have the best looking models.
Every time I see this game I want the starter box even more.
its nice to see the designer putting thought into everything fitting together for real rather than it all magically fits inside the transport
I would love to win a PHR army!!
The game and the narrative look and sound great, hope this is a huge hit.
I’m liking the idea of the Resistance. I seem to be a sucker for horde armies… or as they’re otherwise known: that pile of half-painted and half-based miniatures I’m trying to roll dice for.
Love the way hawk handels their business. PHR is my favorite faction at this point, so would love to get my hands on this weeks price.
Grtz
Very nice!
The leviathan sounds really cool. Out of interest, Dave (if you read this) how do you feel the ferrum is in DZC. Despite being experimental, it features in a lot of lists. Do you think that’s because it’s a nice big bit of ucm kit?
Another great show. That dropzone commander stuff does look really amazing. The scale for the game is spot on. I still have a lot of the epic 40000 models at home which is 5mm to the best of my knowledge. It’s actually a little bit too small and tedious for painting. The models in dropzone are that little bit bigger. 🙂
@warzan if you want to go to Gencon just fly to the north east like New York and rent a car – less flying and cheaper
A new ‘Be Calm’ slogan? “Be Calm – 10 Months in Essex and Counting”.
Its good to see BOW continue to support the smaller uk games companies as well. Hawk Wargames are clearly one to watch, the new plastic starter should bring alot more people into drop zone. Cant wait to see how the resistance expands the game.
The more I see about this game the more I get drawn towards it! Hawk Wargames, you’ve done a wonderful job! That resistance faction really is getting my attention! Keep it coming!
The Human Resistance sounds Awesome! i can’t wait to have a game with them.
UCM Marine 1: How far from the Dropships are we?
UCM Marine 2 : You want that in meters, or in the number of Scourge trying to kill us?
UCM Marine 1: Same number?
UCM Marine 2: About four hundred!
Sirs, please accept these words as my formal entry into your competition for Hawk Wargames’ exceedingly fine Post-Human Republic starter set. Many thanks.
Glad to see I’m not the only one who makes whoosh sounds when moving the dropships 🙂
I’ve been really interested in Dropzone since it was first announced. I’m not a fan of smaller scales usually, which is why I haven’t got in on it before. But with the release of the two player set, I’m seriously considering it now.
Resistance is looking cool… could play them like Reavers or the Resistance from Falling Skies… so cool!
Also if you guys want energy try AmiN.O. Energy… its a powder but its not as bad for you as that premixed shit!
These are the guys for me, although the Scourge wearing coats is still appealing to me…
I wasn’t convinced when I first saw the resistance but after watching the video i’m convinced!
Nice scoop guys! Now let the poor man get some sleep 🙂
I had been waffling quite a bit about this game. I love the sculpts, but had been worried about the scale of the models. Then Dave and Warren began highlighting Flames of War and I decided to take the jump following the incredible D-Day and Vietnam coverage. Now I can see that the scale of DZC is perfect for massed battles that have that epic sort of feel to them. And then Dave from Hawk Wargames turns around and creates a starter box set that is, hands-down, one of the best on the market (Open Fire is pretty sweet too). Turns out the combination of these factors has led me to jump in feet-first when the starter set arrives. And now Beasts of War holds a contest for Backstagers to give away a PHR starter set and monstrous Hades model. Needless to say, I am now a Backstager myself and looking forward to see where wargaming is headed!
Cheers!
I might get the two player set. I need to get the guys from my gamestore inot this…..
That hades reminds me of the tanks in ghost in the shell, it just looks awesome
That Hades walker is one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
Sweet Hades!
Very cool looking new faction, looks like I’m definitley going to be getting into this game in a big way.
I have to stop watching these videos. My wallet will never survive.
I’d love to see some battle reports for Dropzone Commander
They look great, looking forward to getting into this game these will make me do it. Great video as always guys, it’s nice to see when people a really excited about something.
Dave, I swear I didn’t know they’d kidnap you once you got off the plane.
Guys would love to see if you do any helicopters for the new faction ;0)
I’d like to see a bat rep for this game. You guys have done some really great one’s in the past. I’m sure this would be just as popular
Me me me me !!!!
Resistance. Want. Now.
Class show, class game and a class giveaway,
perfect Sunday guys, thanks.
PHR still looks the coolest whatever they say, but the resistance, man… they’re damn cool in their own right.
Looking forward to the new releases, hoping more and more come out in plastic!
The More I see Drop Zone the more I wan’t to play it. Now all I have to do is find some friendly gamers In the Manchester Area to learn the game with. Dave keep quality minis coming, you are a mini war gaming genius. BoW keep up the good work and please please have regular stuff on Drop Zone this game could be my answer to my 40k bordom
Fell in love for the game since the first time I saw it. Who knows if my chance is now?
DZC is looking better and better. Just got into FoW cos of your vids, so i’m trying hard to fight gamer-magpie-syndrome and will try to wait a while before picking this up. I fully expect to fail and add yet more minis to the to-be-painted pile(s)!
As ever, keep up the good work.
Oh, also, can we have a demo vid of DZC please. Just to totally scupper my chances of passing my resist:shiny things roll 🙂
Awesome stuff dave, I look forward to seeing more.
Hmmm…massive games of Mad Max meets terminator, great.
Well the Human Resistance have really sold it for me, it’s just a shame we’ve got to wait until next year 🙁
Haved enjoyed following this company from their initial launch great to see even more about them.
Now I must convince my local group to get into this
Had the same situation, just showed them the rulebook, some of my UCM miniatures and pics of the new starter box and six players ordered together three starter sets!
Must…. resist…. starter box….
I’m liking these resistance guys a lot, looking forward to seeing what the big hovercraft thingummy ends up like. Probably going to be my second drop zone faction though anyway.
More DzC, this game looks awesome! I just got my ‘human’ guys and in the process of painting them. Bring more more minis BoW! 🙂
I am sooo flabergusted! I love the Post Human Republic, but their starter seems so good money wise that buying anything else seems like a waste… sigh!
Can we see an example game? I’d love that.
I was going to avoid adding yet another wargame to my burgeoning stack of unpainted minis, but damn if DMZ hasn’t become awfully tempting. Helps that the scenery should be useable with Robotech RPG Tactics and Battletech Alpha Strike…..
Would like to see a BOW week for DZC.
Or a DZC for BoW?
I don’t normally go for the bug-type races, but the Scourge have really caught my eye. I cannot wait for my starter set! One question I have is will they be releasing those quick reference sheets in the starter for the other factions? Maybe in a separate PHR-Shaltari set?
Good question and I think that they will do it. They have already stated that they have plans to produce starter kits for PHR and Shaltari in plastic but it will take a lot of time.
Absolutely amazing, stunning miniatures with nice additional options/rules (trains, tunnels etc..). A must have game for every epic-style game fans! :))
I love the ideas in the resistance. Can’t wait to see the infantry.
Wow they look amazing, this game is just pushing all the right buttons. Not for my wallet though!
I’ve been playing just about a year now and Dropzone has become my favorite game and the one I play the most often. I’m primarily a Shaltari player but have a PHR force for demo’s and to ocassionally shake things up. Wouldn’t mind having some more …
Two starter sets ordered for the kids at the school I work at to play with. A PHR army to join them would be very nice!
We will see a second Cityscape Set with overgrown buildings? Sounds great – but pls make them a little more overgrown like in the rulebook, the buildings should really look old and infested (or make a third set with the scourge-conquered buildings 😀 )
Just ordered my first DzC two-player set, can’t wait til I get it on Thursday!
Where did you order it from, It’s not released until September 28th I believe. 🙂
Yup carnt wait to get my hands on this kit
What is not to like? I’ve already pre-ordered the new Plastic Starter Set with my local supplier. Great that Dave is happy to share what the future holds too.
Looking great – can’t wait to see the rest of the Resistance
Dropzone Commander stuff keeps getting better and better…looking forward to reinforcing my UCM with the new starter set.
Dave, hats off to you, an absolutely beautiful vision realised. I can’t wait to get this starter set, the only downside being…I really want the PHR!
Oh well, fingers crossed… 🙂
The models look very very detailed
I like the episodes of the Weekender where there is a special guest. It’s a good way for them promote their products and for viewers to get the low-down on new/planned releases.
I’d also be interested to see the guests talk more about other news in the gaming world. I seem to remember that when the guy from Modiphius was on promoting Acthung Cthulhu! that he chipped in with comments on other gaming stories. All of the people who appear as guests will have an interest in the industry at large – as a viewer it would be nice to hear what they think of the work other people are doing.
That was one of my most favourite weekenders so far! And the Resistance sound so awesome; they’re definitely the army for me! I wonder if my old micro machines will be to scale? 😀
Expecting the starter set to kick-off a new influx of DZC players locally.
The hades alone is enough to tempt me to start dropzone, and Dave’s enthusiasm is quite infectious. It’s great to hear from someone so evolved and submerged in their product, if you had enough energy drinks I suspect you could have kept him talking for hours.
Oh man, I’m so excited, I love this game! Amazing work Hawk!
Good show guys enjoyed it. Really love the look of dzc going to have to get into it
Resistance for me – roll on next year! Will there be rules for the resistance to ‘borrow’ other races equipment, I wonder?
Bought my first list when dropzone started now have all four and cant get enough. Great work guys, cant wait for more to be developed:-)
Gday from Oz looking sweet I have been trying to get more people at our club into DZC few awhile now these new models plus the 2 player box set should get a few on to the battlefield soon
The technicals don’t do it for me, the old military units sound more fascinating.
PHR remains the more appealing faction to me so far, with the Saltari come as seconds, but we will see, the old earth military equipment may be quite good.
Very dark future and epic reminiscent. Lovely
Oh dear. This game is getting disturbingly interesting to me. Now that Dave has explained the story behind it I am more hooked than ever.
I can’t believe the accuracy and thought he has put into each of those models. Truly amazing sir. Lets face it most of us aren’t going to paint the underside of a car. NO ONE will expect it to have all the detail sculpted too!!!!!
The detail he has put into thinking the equipment out is amazing. I would probably start out with that as the ideal and then get to a point and say “nope that’s good enough, no one will ever know”. The extra effort really makes it come alive.
Great
This all looks very interesting. I guess I will have to look into it more closely
I agree with many here, this prize is just… Christmas coming in a plastic filled cardboard box. In my group Dropzone is just rocketing up in popularity and I’m finding it harder and harder to resist this, only thing keeping me back is the old wallet (a curse I think we all suffer :D)
Didn’t help that I basically had no choice BUT to watch a game since a game I was going to play got cancelled last minute.
Would love to win it but good luck to all who enter this bliss and lets applaud that who wins it.
…formalities over, just hand it over BoW 😀
So excited about this game and watching any and all BoW coverage of it I even rejoined backstage after foolishly cancelling my sub as a result – to hell with economy drives!
This game looks great … And Resistance look awesome …
Dave with Dropzone Commander is amazing. His vision of the gaming industry and his company second to none. Would love to start this game. I have played a few small demos at the local game shop, and would love to win a set to paint and play. Let us know where we can send Dave some energy drinks. The man needs a few. 🙂
great show, really interesting behinds the scenes stuff from Hawk, its exactly the kind of thing Backstage is for.
What a fantasitc prize. This would have to be ones of the nicest looking starter kits around. I’ve got a few colonial minis but not enough to start playing. Something like this would bolster my forces and also help get some of the other player friends of mine who are on the fence into the game.
I first saw Dropzone at Salute 2012 and fell in love with the kit then. It is great to see its success and how it is developing.
I am hooked. Mrs is mad as every time i watch BoW I end up wanting something. love the look of the resistance very Falling Skies type thing. Keep up the epic work guys and look forward to a Dropzone week.
just become a backstager and watched a few xlbs’s now and I have a question, what exactly was a journeyman tounament?
Journeyman normally denotes someone familiar with a subject but not yet experienced, so in this context I’d imaging a tournament for people new to the game.
Wow this game looks cool. I’ve not yet tried the scale. Time to make some space on the hobby table.
The more I see of Dropzone the more impressed I am. Although need now is a bank balance to let mt explore it properly.
very nice looking stuff that Droop Zone Commander
Hmm since I purchased the terrain set for no reason other than it was shiny, I guess it *would* be nice to have an army to go with it 😀
Roll on payday and the starter set :p
Unbelievably cool looking minis for Dropzone. Can’t wait to get into it. Really enjoy episodes where the developers come in to talk about their system. Great work guys!
Looks very good. I’m having a hard time deciding between Dropzone and Spartan Games newly revived Planetfall.
I’m loving the drop zone commander stuff, can’t wait for the starter
Box to come out, that’s definitively a must buy!
Aaargh, don’t need another game I want to play.
Just checked out the buildings. Seriously. Wow.
I always had a soft spot for Mad Max…
looks nice, but dont know if it is the right game for me…
