Weekender: Win A Wild West Exodus Starter Set!
December 6, 2014 by dignity
Welcome to The Weekender once again and this time around we're talking about a whole lot of Wild West Exodus content we have planned for the future. Not only that but if you comment on this episode you're in with a chance of winning a Two Player Starter Set for the game!
As well as that we're talking about 4Ground's Stoic Arms Tavern terrain, a neat present from both Gareth and Anne White and of course the Beasts of War Awards for 2014 that is open for voting now!
We're also going to be delving into historical wargaming with amazing community member oriskany starting a new series of articles on the Battle of the Bulge soon for its anniversary and we'll be taking a look at a neat German Plastic Puma from Warlord Games.
If you were wondering about the Dice Bag company that made those awesome pieces for us then you can check them out here at...
Don't forget we're announcing some winners this week as well for both a Flames of War Open Fire box and that signed copy of DreadBall Xtreme!
Have a great weekend!

Goood morning!
This is my highlight for today. I have to go christmash-shopping wiht my wife later. 😉
How did I miss this first time round ….I’ve been meaning to try a smaller scale skirmish game and the fluff for this sound great…besides if the new kickstarter has got Justin this excited then cont me in
Ahh, WWX. I’m really torn on this one. I like the rules, and I love the models, but for some reason I’m not real keen on the world.
Yeah Weekender! Woot!
ah bugger was just about to go to sleep and now guess im going to have to watch this now and will lose badly at the 40k game ill be playing in 5 hours time
Commenting to win. FTW. Preferably Flames of War
I didn’t have any money during the exodus kickstarter but would love to try it out.
Is there a reason why there is no hd options on this video other then 144P? I went to youtube and same problem. It not watchable at that res. I want enter the Wild West Exodus Comp as I just bought a huge load on the Black Friday deals and I bought heaps of MAS Buildings and Starters to get me in to WWX. I think it will be an amazing game after reading the rules.
I have HD options up to 1080p… YouTube might have been still uploading/encoding it… I’m sure if you check again they’ll be there.
Wow I’ve never really looked at Wild West Exodus before, I’m really intrigued now, it looks excellent. I’ll be keeping an eye out for the kickstarter.
WWX is definitely on my list as a game I want, will probably go after it in the new year.
Great show guys.
Im just awaiting for a starter set i purchased on waylandgames. Couldnt resist, love the models and the concept
The Puma had more or less the same cannon as late model Panzer III’s so it could do some real damage in flank and rear quarter attacks. That is an astonishing little kit – takes me back to my 1:35 scale modelling days.
WWE – very snazzy!
Sweet Danger, Batman! I’m totally stealing that
Nice video guys! Thanks a lot, I’ve been interested in Wild West Exodus. Great to see lots of info on new games like WWEx, now I’m sure I’ll get some minis and the rules to play with my buddy – he’s been asking if I’m interested.
p.s. Winning a starter would be nice as well btw ^_^
Great show guys!
been dabbling a bit in WWX but would still like a starter set.
Great show again!
This WWE stuff starts to be interesting. The miniature of Lincoln is so awesome.
Abe Lincoln vs the outlaws, sounds like a B movie title, I want in!
the sheep could be uniformed up as French or Belgium troops.Could model how blitzkrieg worked…you only need a wolf to take place of germans.
Aww . . . that’s a little harsh. French and Belgian troops fought extremely hard at 1940 battles like Stonne, Sedan, Verdun, deGaulle’s counterattack at Crecy, and Guderian’s bloody nose at Juniville (June 10, even after Dunkirk). Now, if you want to set up some hard-ass French and Belgian troops with sheep for OFFICERS . . . I’d be on board. 😀
Agree wth Oriskany The French and Belgian soldiers fought bravely, strategically they werent great, but if the UK had been part of the European mainland it would have been overrun in a few weeks as well as it wouldnt have been able to stand against the blitzkrieg either
Good luck with the bulge project.
Thanks, @zorg and @torros .
The first three battles are run. Two more this weekend. We’re finding the hardest part is picking which engagements to run. There are so many, and the Bulge is so well documented. It makes building accurate historical scenarios pretty easy.
We did a Bastogne campaign some years back using Crossfire, it was of course map driven with the engagements being done on tabletop, good fun
The French and Belgians fougth with great tenacity. It is not the soldiers fault that French high comand Doctrin were antediluvian 😉
Okay, that Scooby dice bag is super sweet.. in every sense! 😀
Morning saved. 🙂
WWX looks awesome
Always been interested in Wild West Exodus.
I’m a great fan of Honest Abe so…
Wasn’t really bothered about Exodus before now but this has piqued my interest. Might have to look into it. Oh joy. Something else to spend money on. Lol 🙂
Love the look of the Puma. John did a superb job without instructions. 🙂
Sheep.? Bloody sheep.? Love it.
Got my 2 core boxes of Shadows of a Brimstone last week and it’s ffecking brilliant. 🙂
And my Dreadball Extreme turned up at 7 o’clock this morning.
Christmas this year is going to be awesome.
Oh, and my airbrush turned up yesterday too. 😀
Lol it sounds like you are going to need it – there are plenty of models in those two SoB boxes!
Oh aye. And i’m trying to make the poses different so i’m still putting them together. Lol
And that’s on top of still having all my Dreadball, Myth, Relic Knights , Mars Attacks, Deadzone and a crap tone of others still to paint. Lol
I’d ruled out buying WWE but the I had a demo game from a friend and I was hooked. It’s a really great game with more depth than you’d expect. Shame it’s so hard to find a retailer here in the UK.
Never been a huge fan of the 4ground buildings but will definitely have to get one of those. Just wow.
Good show
Good weekender. .
Definately love the look of this game, my local club plays exclusively 40k and fantasy though. My gaming is limited to the occasional dropzone at home or gw games. Fml.
Another good show
really looking forward to wwx week, got on board with the kickstarter but havent had a game yet
How fantastic does WWX sound? Looking forward to seeing some battle reports on this.
I really want to try this game. Terrain looks awsome.
Great show guys,
I was going to ask are planning on doing something with shadows of Brimstone as i spotted both the boxes in one of videos on the riverside studio. I have had my copies for just about a week now got most of the mini’s assembled a played 1 or 2 scenarios.
WHF+ … You mean like how LotR (skirmish) and WotR (large scale units) now branded as Hobbit have co-existed For years?
The game looks really nice, would like to paint some of the minis too.
Have been sat this morning watching the weekender painting my 101st Airborne for Bolt Action, and then you guys start talking about them! 🙂
Anyway…
Gimme da WWX kit!!!
(Sorry my inner-Ork slipped out there)
Needless to say, the Screaming Eagles will figure prominently in some of the middle games of our series. Can’t have the “Bulge” without the 101st. 😀
Even more so as I use the Bastogne list! 🙂
At last I’ll get to play some bad ass Americans! Maybe I’ll finally get to win a game 😉 Its hard getting my but kicked every game, but its all in the name of historical accuracy and a great article series so I roll dice and carry on…
Whoa, whoa. You WON the first one, @gladesrunner. Then lost the second one . . . BARELY. Tomorrow is the tie-breaker! 😀
NUTS
Liking the sound of the dark nation in WWE
I love the stoic arms from 4ground it looks stunning
Wild West Exodus looks great. Really good to see so much attention being put into the back story.
I really don’t need another game system but damn this looks good
Great show guys. I’ve Been waiting for beasts of war to do WWX stuff for ages now. Its a great game and could really do with that little extra spotlight here in the UK etc.
The little details that they went into for the armoured vehicle for warlord game is very very nice.
bring out the southerners
Yeehaw!
Great show guys. Love the look and feel of wild west exodus! very cool.
Wish I had got into the WWE KS now, looks fantastic.
I’d love to get into WWX… need to get some terrain
Got to add some of those sheep in my next Warlord order.
Love WWX. I wish there were more players in my area.
Thank you guys, very helpful talk about WWExodus. I have been lookking for this type of game for quite some time. Unfortunately it is not easy to get one here in Slovakia, so I hope for winning the starter. I am sure it will make me an my sons a happy holidays.
As far as BOW 2014 Anual Awards, my vote is in also.
Good luck and keep on.
That Puma is fantastic. I’ll certainly be picking up one, or two, or three…
The sheep are also great for scenery, dioramas etc. My Ogre KoW army is going to look like it is raiding a farm, so dead animals, sheep, chickens, fences etc in the right scale are needed.
Oww Yes! WWE is looking great! As do the buildings from 4Ground!
Great video, looking forward to more themed weeks, always enjoy them even for games I don’t play
the models look really nice
Really enjoy Weekender (both versions), have become part of my gaming week. Fingers cross for the give away, love alternate/weird settings – and what’s not to like about Weird Wild West (never really got into Deadlands/Great Rail Wars, so this is a bonus)
We only have one in Australia (The Combat Company – Little plug). This game is awesome. I am trying to push it here locally so we playing something other then Infinity and Zombicide is the 2 main games we play almost every week.
I want to enter for anything WWX…..
Nooo! Please don’t scale fantasy down! I’ve just started with it, I’m not even done painting my Dark Elves…
Steampunk cowboys…..YEE HA!!!!!!!!
What´s the size of the table? I quickchecked the WWX rules and they say, 6 x 4 is the usual size. This one looks like 4 x 4 to me?
Loving the warrior nation for WWX
Wild West exodus sounds interesting, I missed the first kickstarter so I hope the 2nd one will cater as well to new players.
Amazing show guys! got to love the puma and the new 4 ground building. I think 2 pumas will go fine with my Tigers and Panzer IV 😛
i guess there will be more about WWX. Especially tactics or battle reports and of course painting guides.
I have just had the Union starter box turn up and I am really impressed with the detail on these models.
I forgot to say, those dice bags are SO CUTE! I want!
Good reference for Puma ‘family’ – http://www.militaryfactory.com/armor/detail.asp?armor_id=365
That would be a nice birthday present… 😉
I hadn’t really paid any attention to Wild West Exodus, but after today I may take a look. The minis look really cool.
Giving out amazing stuff again… and a great video… you guys rock
Ok loving the ideas behind the new factions turning up – Loving the Explodable Steam-zombies!!
yes whanne win
awesome, steampunk cowboy madness, only missing ninja’s
great weekender guys. enjoy the nativity play Warren,
One reason not to get into fantasy or 40k is knowing Id have to build and assemble (and pay for) 100s of models. If I can start with a quality skirmish game with a handful of models I might actually buy in to a GW product. of course, I still have deadzone and infinity on my shelf waiting to be played…
I really like the look of WWE
WWE minis look cool!
Wild west Exodus looks interesting. and sounds fun.
Perfect time for WWX, just getting started with this game.
Lol showed what Justin was like as an excited kid, he still hasn’t grown up. Just like the rest of us.
Growing up..? What’s that..?
Lol
those are some really nice buildings
another awesome table Lloyd! i think that the terrain make most tabletop wargames at lease it what get me hooked
i like the cyborg parts of WWE… really well done flashy but credible!
wild west exodus looks like a must have to me :)…..loving the show guys
I was intrigued with the Wild West Exodus Starter Set at last year’s Adepticon. Winning it would be a great motivation to begin my own Exodus to the Wild West. And, of course, Adepticon 2015 coming in mid-March.
Those sheep would be perfect for an objective in any western game.
Like the look of WWX. Maybe time to try it.
I’d like a Wild West game but the models are a touch on the pricey side for me.
Looks like another great game to add to my wanted list, and then to add to the ever growing painting pile
This game looks addictingly fun!
Excited to see the new shows for WWE, I’ve been interested in taking a look for a while. Seeing new games here on Beasts of War reduces my chances of having buyers remorse later!
I had never really looked much at Wild West Exodus before but I must say that I am really attracted by the Warring Nations characters and models.
Good morning guys ~ great show, and thanks for the great intro as always!
@dignity is totally correct at 1:04:00. To try and do the Battle of the Bulge . . . in its entirety . . . on any kind of miniature table top . . . well, let’s see how crazy it would be. 🙂
Battle of the Bulge saw the Germans strike on an 120 kilometer front, and pushed about 120 km deep (as @johnlyons says). So you’d need a table that represents 120km square. Just for fun:
Bolt Action: The table would be 2.14 KILOMETERS on a side (just short of 7000 feet).
You’d need enough figures for 220,000 Germans, 600,000 Americans (eventually, more American units were always joining the battle after the initial German assault), and something like 20,000 British.
Now THAT’S a game! 🙂
Holy s***!
You know, @warzan, your idea for a German “wedge” between British and American tank forces isn’t that far-fetched. Such engagements are extremely rare, but one DID happen in Battle of the Bulge.
Late in the battle, while Hodge’s US First Army was caving in the north shoulder of the Bulge and Patton’s US Third Army was caving in the south, other Allied units were hitting the German bulge right on the very tip. This took place at a Belgian town called Celles, where the British 29th Armored Brigade and the US 2nd Armored Division (Combat Command B, or “CCB”), struck the furthest extent of ground attained by the German 2nd Panzer Division.
This battle took place on a battlefield measuring about 2-3 miles on a side. @amphibiousmonster and I will be running this in Panzer Leader (counters and hexes) as part of our article series, but I thought you’d be interested as a possibility for a Bolt Action miniature fight for Tank Week. Three tank units, US, UK, and Germany, could REALLY be featured all pretty much on the same table.
Things like this practically NEVER happen, but Celles was the exception that proves the rule. Now in all honesty, 2nd Pz only had StuGs, Panthers, Mark IVs, and PzJg IV/70s (no Tigers or King Tigers – but games don’t have to be PERFECTLY historical, do they?). In any event, now you can have your US-UK Allied tank game with some legitimate history to back you up in case any “rivet-counters” cry foul. 😀
6th Panzer Army had 506 Heavy Tank Battallion equipped with Tiger 2’s.
Absolutely, sir, there were a few Wehrmacht and Waffen SS formations in the Ardennes Offensive that fielded Tiger Is, Tiger IIs, or a mix. I was just saying that 2nd Panzer Division (the division in the Celles example) wasn’t one of them. 2nd Panzer was with 5th Panzer Army (XLVII Pz Corps, specifically). They and Panzer Lehr were the ones who reached Celles and Foy Notre Dam at the extreme western tip of the Bulge where the British and Americans hit them on Christmas Day.
Of course, that’s just if you’re trying to run a STRICT history game for a US/UK/German engagement. Given how rare some of these really “fun” vehicles and units are, it’s easy to see why a lot of players let the historical uber-details slide a little in favor of just setting up their units and having fun (especially after spending all that money and time on them 🙂 ).
For Tigers and King Tigers you have plenty of choices, and we’re trying to pick some good engagements that will allow us to use these units and feature them in the articles. As you mention, we have the Schwere Panzer-Abteilung 506 with 6th Pz Army (although I don’t think they were in the battle straight off, they didn’t get into the Bulge until after December 20 or so . . . and only had 7 Tiger IIs operational). We’re also looking at SS sPzAbt 501 with 1st SS Leibstandarte, part of KG Peiper, also 6th Pz Army. There was also the 301st and their Tiger Is with 9th Panzer Division I think (I’ll have to check that), the 683rd sPzJgAbt with some Jadgpanthers, and other “goodies.”
Oh God, @oriskany ‘s at it again. 🙁
If your doing something like the Bulge why wouldnt you use historical units that were involved in the battle?. It is so well documented. Of course the hardest bit will be the lack of supplies for the Germans and how to represent that on the tabletop
That’s a great point, @torros. I mean, we’re using strictly historical units, I’m just acknowledging that’s not everyone’s cup of tea. As for the supply situation, we’re trying out rules in some scenarios like:
**American artillery fire in Bastogne: Once Bastogne was surrounded, rounds for the 3 battalions of American artillery became very short. Some batteries were reduced to 10 rounds per gun per day. American artillery can only fire for two turns in what’s usually a six or seven turn game.
** German fuel: Every movement phase, every German vehicle has to make a d6 roll. If they roll a 1, they’re stuck where they are . . . for good. Since many of these games last 6 or 7 turns, statistically the whole German force should be out of fuel by the end of the game.
This looks so awesome, I had to make an account here finally. 🙂
Moin,
i don’t know if somebody said it but the german word for sheep is Schaf.
WWX looks intresting, I thought it were metal kits but when its plastic maybe I schould give it a try.
Wild starter come to me !
i want to win!
Nice sheep
Warlord have had a single sheep mini for a while and it was a huge seller (seriously). I bought (and painted) eight for the escort mission in Saga.
Would love to win that.
Love the look of the outlaws and the union. May have to pick up a starter set. Also great show guys as usual
Now if only there was the correct scale of a flock of sheep for that WWE sets…
That game sounds fantastic – can’t wait for the bat rep to see how it plays!
WWX looks brilliant . Great show as usual
I’ve never really been a fan of the Wild West genre, but WWX could well change that. Very interesting stuff and a great visual!
Awesome stuff. LGS has some WWE players, but I havent picked it up yet
Another great show to start my day.
Where I was slightly curious about Wild West Exxodus now I’m full on SOLD!
Exodus looks fantastic cowboys and indians but a lot more fun :o)
i want to try this game and be able to put 1000$ in to it so a starter would be a grat start for me 😉
and by the way i want to thak you guy’s for a good show (as always),
also i am always looking my Weekender on my inteligent 60” Tv so i am sure not to miss anything
Glad to see some WWX coverage. Every model I’ve bought for that game has been outstanding, and the game is loads of fun.
Wild West Exodus looks awesome, I love the models. Can’t wait to get the opportunity to give it a go.
Justin : “Squee!”
lol nothing wrong with the odd fanboy moment im still a gamer and geek 😛
Awesome, another great show hooking me into another great looking game.
Great looking game,& very nice terrain.
John is going to build up some “30K” kits?? Was that the version before 40K?
Don’t deny you said “30K” Warren! 😀
Yeah we’re looking at some heresy era stuff 🙂 so yes I meant 30k 😉
Shows how little I know. I had no idea there was a “30K” bit. 😀
Great looking game!
Now I will definitely want to find out moire about this game, fluff sound great now i want to see more!
Had a look at the exodus stuff over the weekend when they had 35% off. It was still pricey. Might get involved in the kick starter if the pledge levels are reasonable.
As for scaling a fantasy game, it can be done. I happen to be trying to develop a ruleset to do just that. To be successful though it needs to be approached in the opposite manner to how you mention GW has always done business. Rules first then develop your factions and settings to match and finally the miniatures.
If I win this, I need to get that Lincoln. That is an awesome model. 🙂
Wild west exodus does look rather good.
I absolutely love the backround and the models.
The rules sound interesting, can`t wait to start playing!
I`m looking forward to the battle report.
So, when is the release date for the Puma?
Check warlords website, it’s up for pre-order.
By the way: Hobby Lab on that table terrain pleeeease!
Gimme!! Gimme!!!
Not sure I ever gave Wild West Exodus more than a passing glance, now I think I am going to have to do some research and see what this game and world is really hiding.
Wild West Exodus looks like a nice scirmish system I want to check out in the future.
that looks like a nice starter set. When did Beasts of War become a mini history show. 🙂
Wasn’t sure about this game before this video…
now I’m not sure I can stay away.
Looks great!!!
Sounds like its worth a go next year
I’m very exited about WWE, good show and a very interesting game.
Iv’e already filled in the Awards survey but it was very tough to choose with the best sculpt and best painted, wild west exodus looks pretty dam nice, i wonder if they will do a faction with Jim Bowie and Davy Crockett in? i might have missed them saying it already but would be cool.
And i am a keen Bolt Action player so i am off to buy me some sheep, “here flossy here girl” 😛
There are some really interesting possibilities with WWE.
Another great show guys. I really like the new studio set up as well.
Love WWE, want that two starter please! 😀
This video got me hyped up to check this out.
I am really excited by this! A 2 player starter is just what this game needed. I have been trying to get folks interested I. My meta and I think this box set will be just the way. I really like the Native American ascetic in this game and can’t wait to take it to the white man.
Sheep = Schaf
I’ve been tempted by WWX since the kickstarter. I’ve been able to resist but I don’t know if it will last.
Really Like this game!! Great show and looking forward to more detail on game play!!
Exodus looks absolutely fantastic! that Jesse James model just blows me away, not to mention the Abe Lincoln!
Entered. Great show!!!
Goddammit! Whenever you get people in to talk about their games and miniatures I get all excited and feel compelled to go start playing it! Might try and hold off a week and see if I can win WWX for free! If not, more bags to hide from the missus….
went into work for overtime this morning and all I could think about was getting out and seeing the weekender… great show as always. Thanks guys.
Interesting to play in the old west. Great terrain opportunities.
Quite a fantastic game! Reminds me of the old DeadLands Roleplaying game and I know that was fun. With miniatures now, it is a winner!
Sat complete, another great show.
This game looks awesome. Love Abe
This looks amazing! Would be nice to won the box set! Keep up the great work BoW.
Exodus sounds pretty cool.
Christmas shopping or also called rugby scrum practice done and dusted with my better half. Now to sit down and watch the high light of the day; BOW Weekender while she who must be obeyed chats with her friends on face book are the peace an quite. Hope she doesn’t read this or I am a dead man Lol.
Looking forward to the demo game of WWE.
No no and thrice no my wallet is about to take a spanking again. I am so going to buy that tavern how cool is that. Would work well with Exodus as well. See wallet spanked. Great show as ever 🙂
I missed the original WWE kickstarter, game looks incredible, am really looking forward to WWE week and the 2nd kickstarter.
Can only hope they’ll open access to already existing product through the pledge manager
Another great Weekender this week!
I had been idly curious about WWX but this has definitely gotten more interested. I showed my wife the article on the Wayward Eight and she said she might aim to misbehave with that boxed set. It’d be my chance to finally get her into skirmish games.
Almost forgot abotu this .. votes cast earlier 🙂 good show!
Wow, I’ve been tempted to try this game based on the mini’s but now I’m definitely going to have to give it a spin.
I am so gutted that I bottled out of pledging to the wild west exodus kickstarter at the last minute. The next one is very tempting!
Good show, really looking forward to Wild West Ex week, keep up the good work
BoW got me crazy for Dust, Wolsung….I afraid WWX is going to be the next game. Would be cool to pick it up before the kickstarter, and then build up knowing what you’re getting into.
WHF 9th ed. better be good, else my stuff is never leaving the closet. 🙂
Great show. The Wild West game looks great too.
Want that tavern.
Looking forward to the WWX themed week. The game and mini’s sound too interesting to ignore.
Awesome, WWX has been on my list of games to try for a while now
So I am not sure if anyone else has mentioned it yet, but there is some skirmish styles for games workshop’s warhammer 40k, going by the name of kill team missions, I recognize they are not games workshop supported, but they are a way to get in that skirmish style of gameplay
Gonna get me one of those nice dice bags. Look sweet.
They really need to add Bruce Campbell to Wild West Exodus 😉
Another great show from you guys.
Now I must test Wild west Exodus.
Their universe seems so cool.
Thank for the coming serie on this game.
I have to say this has made me really curious about Wild West Exodus. Looking forward to seeing more of this.
That sounds like a really fun game and the Miniatures look great.
That was a cracking weekender. Love those dice bags! 🙂
Great show guys, can’t wait for the wwx week, looks really cool.
wish they made sheeps for 28mm
They do Gripping Beast
could really do with winning the prize this week.
A herd of goats have been a regular feature in our Bolt Action for a few months now. Recently they have been joined by others and a donkey has put in an appearance. Introducing a new animal on the table seems to be in vogue lately
Great show the first time I saw the 4 ground building it sort of reminded of Rivendell, but when I was watching the show it was more like part of the hotel in the Shining.
The puma looks very similar to many vehicles that are very common to day.
Just voted on the awards. WWE looks pretty cool, would love to give it a try.
2014 turned out to be a great year for all gamers! Thanks to the Beats of War team i can keep up with many games withour going banckrupt! Wild West Exodus is a great looking game (and awesome table btw guys)!
See you next week.
Wild West Exodus is a superb game, with great cinematic moments. Hopefully the increased coverage here will encourage retailers, and Wayland, to sort out their supply chain issues since it can currently be a bit difficult to get hold of their stuff! Nonetheless, I have models for four of the six starting factions anyway 😛
Great show again 🙂
Can we have links to the topics mentioned about Campaign battles upscaling and star wars rules mentioned?
Good evening, @admiralandy –
The BoW team is currently reviewing the Star Wars PocketModel rules. I’m sure they’ll provide a way to download them as soon as they’re ready.
I think I need to get my hands on some of the WWE fluff, in preparation for the Kickstarter in March…
great show and love to see more of exodus
Hey, I still live in the wild west. At least moreso than most. I live in interior Alaska, so we still carry our guns just about everywhere. I still got to keep trying to win.
Have been with WWX from the first kickstarter, the next one starts on my birthday!!
This is a great game everyone should give it a chance you’ll be happy with it!!
I can completely understand Justin having suck excitement. Wild west exodus looks awesome. It’s like how the film wild wild west wanted to be.
the german word for sheep is Schaf 😀
As a huge Deadlands fan, this game has my interest. Love the models.
Sheep – nothing wrong with that – can’t see all the fuss. However you missed a trick their lads. The dead cows that Warlord do are much better for Bolt Action I feel 😉
I have often tried to buy the sheep. But they’re always out of stock. I promise it’s nothing to do with coming from a place called Ramsbottom.
I love the miniatures but they look like they are holding Nerf guns, and I might be tempted to paint them as such.
It really looks awesome, can’t wait to try it ^^
I love my Shadows of Brimstone. I think you guys will have a blast. Still waiting for my Dreadball in the mail. I have that WWX starter set. It is really good. Looking forward to tomorrows show. Good job guys.
Suddenly I’m intrigued by a WWX-themed week. Good work.
I would love to take a shot at painting these and then posting pics here on beast of war.
I am so excited about the WWX week. I absolutely love this game.
That’s right. I’ve killed women and children. I’ve killed just about everything that walks or crawled at one time or another. And I’m here to kill you, Little Bill, for what you did to Ned.
can i win wwx pretty please!!
To paraphrase the good Doc, “I hope I’m your Huckleberry.”
Looking forward to seeing some coverage of shadows of brimstone tomorrow I received my core sets last week and the game is awesome
Greetings from Luxembourg. I recently took visitors to the American military cemetery at Sandweiler (next village to where I live). It’s a remarkable place and honours the soldiers that fought there.
Incidentally, when I first arrived in Luxembourg I stayed at the Alfa hotel which was Patton’s base during the battle. These days it’s a corporate hotel but back when I arrived (1992) it was full of historical photos of Patton’s HQ. Quite a thing.
Awesome, @brianparker . Yeah, the “left wing” of the Ardennes offensive and the southern arm of the American counterattack passed right through Luxembourg. That must be an awesome place to be, especially during the upcoming weeks for the 70th Anniversary.
As a Kiwi I love the sheep too – not as much as the Welsh of course….
More Cattle farms now being the reason
Great review/preview of WWX -I’ve listened to D6G for many years now and Graig Gallant wrote two of the background books on WWX but seeing the actual models makes me want to get into this game even more
Band of Brothers is an excellent series.Painted many models while watching this. Not recommended actually as you miss out on too much detail. Not the models! Just watching the episodes without a paintbrush would be my handy hint of the week
Sod the 40K. More historical. 😎
Cheers!
I am sitting here putting some of these amazing WWX blisters together while enjoying this Awesome show.
I am so glad it is getting a push with you guys. You do a great job of helping these game systems expand and recognition . I am new to this game system also and only just started collecting a month ago.
I have never been much of a fan of plastic miniatures due to average or low detail and why I mainly collect Infinity, Dark Age and Anima Tactics models but these plastics are as good as any metal miniature I have. They have amazing detail on their plastics that I have seen. The resin models are even better.
I can not wait to get these together and get some colours on these. Will post some pictures of the Demo table progress soon on the Forums.
It looks cool.
Wild west exodus looks awesome, would love to try it!
Awesome show Gents. Sheep would be awesome for a medieval/fantasy farm terrain setup – may need to look in to getting a few blisters…
Wow . Italeri sure went crazy on the under carriage detail , looks like a scaled down version of my 1/35 Puma . Just remember guys , these things worked in groups of 2 . Only one of each pair had the long range radio (star antenna on left rear fender ) . Only 101 of these produced : Panzer Lehr Div had 25 , 1 SS PD had 16 ,2 PD had 25 , 20 PD had 16 , 7 PD had 6 , 13 PD had a few ( number unknown ) . Any left over from the 101 Pumas were assigned to the Training School . Can’t wait to get a couple built and painted .
How to play battle of the bulge? Pick NaC game and you’ll be fine 🙂
Loving the look of those dice bags, Ive been on the site and intending to buy one (the question will be postage costs to Aus)
Wild West Exodus looks so fun! Id be wanting to play the Warrior Nation
Fantastic terrain board and the Exodus minis look good.
I have to say, Wild West Exodus isn’t my thing, though it’s an awesome game, and I wish them best; but one thing that was really remarkable to watch was Justin’s enthusiasm. I have never seen him smile so wide or his eyes light up so bright as when he talked about that game! I experienced vicarious joy for the game 🙂
Given my full gaming docket, should my name be picked, please give the prize to someone you deem worthy – maybe someone at your local gaming club who wouldn’t normally be able to afford to experiment with a new game because they focus their limited budget.
Love that model building. Would be great for Warmachine =)
Love me some Weekender!
I will be trying WWX out with a friend a second time tomorrow. Based on this and my recent visit to their website it will probably be my next game!!!
Wild West exodus sounds like it is going to be an interesting 2015
Competition time again
Fantasy Sci-Fi Wild West awesome. Very easy on the eye. Hope i win the comp.
I absolutely love the new format of the show where people are rotated in to talk about different topics. It has become more dynamic and also retains an even higher (if that’s even possible ;)) level of enthusiasm throughout the show. WWX is one of those highly thematic games that’s hovering at the top of my wish list, just waiting for that spare cash to be used on a starter set. I’m not hoping for Father Christmas to show up with a copy so maybe this would be that lucky shot at getting one. 🙂
Glad you guys are doing the WWE there really aren’t any good demo games out there on youtube.
looks like a fun guy
* fun game
Definitely going to check those dice bags out they were cool! What a fantastic gesture for the scooby one! That’s one of the things I really enjoy about this community and the smaller business’s that are in our hobby that you encounter. Clearly everyone has to make a living but it’s touches like this that really make a difference and I’ve found a lot of these smaller co’s I’ve come across genuinely care about the people and hobby they are serving and I do try and support these smaller co’s when I can. Warms your cockles at this time of year. Well done Annie & Gareth. I salute you!
Well two more things to look after for this xmas period, cosydice (but thinking on image to use) and wwx, not seen it before cause was jump to Dead mans Hand, but now i have a game board from 4ground, so maybe its time to go weird west, haha. gonna go search all the media online till your tutorials are on.
Great looking table, hope to see some hobby lab on this in the future.
Good stuff. I’m getting payed to watch these videos lol don’t tell my boss
you can get a global strategic war game like World in Flames that would replicate what up are looking for (with reference to the Battle of the Bulge
And another kickstarter for me to apend my monies on!
Wild West Exodus for Christmas? My wargamer partner (aka my wife) isn’t really into historical fighting, but I think after showing her these I could change her mind!
Also, in the case of Warhammer skirmish rules… 6th edition had something similar highlighted in White Dwarf (there was a corresponding mini-book thing that Games Workshop stores sold). This was likely 15 years ago, so I’m sure they are hard to find.
Perfect birthday gift, what do you think about it?
Justin = Kid at Christmas!
I need that tavern. Stunning.
show us more of wild west exodus.
Gah, been holding off WWE since I first properly looked at it at Salute. Don’t think I can hold off much longer. How do you make those desert bluffs? They look awesome.
WWX hasn’t appealed to me until I saw Justin’s enthusiasm today. Now I’m considering an outlaws starter 🙂
I got in on the first kickstarter, just haven’t had the time to play. Bolt action and deadzone have taken all my time. A new kickstarter may push into actually playing a game or too.
Thank God that we have BoW weekender to get us all by this cold snap (in Canada that is).
The sheep are cool. I hope they do some more animals.
I’ll be adding the Wild West Exodus to my list of games for my group to give a go!
Got the briefest of WWE demos at GenCon this year – spent more time looking at the gorgeous models in the display cases.
I agree – skirmish sized games are the way forward. This means you can afford to game with lots of different systems = lots more fun – without pumping everything you have into one!
Just joined the community. Thanks for the great videos
Been checking out WWE for a while now….and now it looks like its time to make some time for it
Great show again lads, the WWExodus stuff looks great, it was on kickstarter at the same time as Hell Dorado and it looks like i backed the wrong game
I really want to like this game, but some of those models are just way too silly for me.
WWX…looks good…would love to get some stuff to try out.
Nice show guys. Wild West Exodus reminds me a lot of an old cartoon Bravestar!
I was low on funds during the exodus kickstarter but would love to try it out.
The Puma looks good I know that I will be picking that up.
Liking the Warrior Nation..
I’ve been really tempted by the WWX models. Especially those Abe Lincoln sculpts. Pick me! Pick me!
These miniatures are very nice and a pleasure to paint !
i like the look of the warrior nation all the were creatures look great
Great show again guys. I’ve enjoyed all the games of Wild West I’ve had.
WWE would be great xmas gift.
These WWE mini’s are absolutely beautiful. I am not sure on a faction for myself, but definitely want to introduce this game to my club.
That looks like fun.
Wow is great to see such enthusiasm for a new game
Another great show!
Like Batman minis and WEE.. I miss the kickstarter
Great weekender chaps, really starting to look forward to Saturday morning coffee and the latest gaming news. That fantasy Inn kit looks awesome, and who can resist sheep.
I have been watching folks at the Local Store Playing WWX. looks like a blast
My friends started playing Exodus shortly after the Kickstarter shipped out rewards. I played a few games with them but didn’t get hooked until I played the Enlightened, and found out I could blow up my own dudes! Great fun can be had by one and all as you can have a chain reaction and have your dudes blowing up your other dudes. Hilarity then ensues.
Another good show.
Look forward to wwe week.
Exodus looks great
Surprisingly nice minis. Would be nice to have a game or two.
The story in wwx does sound nice or grim if you like
i would say count the sheep but i can see the issue with thzzzzzzzzzzz
….Love the NATION…..:D
So many great looking games out. I’ll be keeping an eye on WWX.
As always a great way to unwind at the weekend guys keep up the good work
Always a treat. Happy Holidays.
Every review of Wild West Exodus I’ve seen/heard heap praise on the game. I have to find the time to give it a try. Also 4ground making more awesome terrain I’ll end up buying.
I can’t believe this game slipped under my radar. It looks great!
I own some WWX, they are some of the best minis out there.
I’d love a bit of Steampunk cowboys and Indians. Might pick this up when I’ve painted the OI set. Or hopefully I’ll win it!
I’ve been impressed with the quality of the WWX minis for some time. The Native Americans are some of the best I’ve seen on the market.
WWX is looking really great, might try it out in the future.
I missed the kickstarter for this, but the game looks pretty sweet!
Love the back story on this. Cant wait to get it.
I absolutely love the models for this game! They are so fantastically detailed for a new game.
I’d be interested in a skirmish game for Warhammer Fantasy – anything up to 50 or more miniatures, not just Mordheim sized. Mainly because I think the scale of miniature suits a skirmish game more than one that has ‘regiment’s of 10 men (or even 40 men these days).
Trouble is, it’s hard to see how a skirmish game could make the super-powered characters the game now has interesting while still making the lowly infantry interesting too.
That 4ground inn looks amazing!
Winning the Wild West Exodus starter kit would be a nice X-Mas present.
Gee, it’s tough now for me to decide which I’m more excited about, Wolsung or Wild West Exodus 😀
Cant wait to see a gameplay video of WWX
This game looks super cool.
This will find place in my group of skirmish games!
Wild West , whats not to like
Always look forward to the show guy’s. Very well done and an awesome guest! I have something to look forward to on the weekend mornings before work.
What a very cool game and game concept, I hadn’t heard of it before! Thanks for the review!
Hmm… Abe Lincoln with a gunaxe. Wild West Exodus I am intrigued, tell me more.
Missed the Kickstarter by a couple of hours. Wild West Exodus seems like a cool game and there are some really nice models too.
I was originally excited but totally missed the exodus kickstarter as it was on the heels of another kickstarter, but this weekender has brought it all back home again!
WWX is an interesting looking game – looking forward to the videos and demo game. Nice board!
I am more and more excited about this game based solely on the excitement level of everyone involved. Curse you Beasts of War! My wallet cannot handle all this.
Shaun you are a super salesman. I am very keen to buy some models.
Love this game and would love starters for more factions.
Awesome! Sold me on getting into the game. Now I just gotta find the funds to staring buying minis for a new game. 🙁
I don’t have room for Wild West Exodus but I could do with a dice bag !
Loved the show guys.
And always fun to hear John talk about WW2.
Been curious about this one.
WWX Wasn’t on my list of games I was interested in… until now. Damn you BoW!
Interesting item on the “Bulge”.
Great podcast on WWE, thanks.
Dan just brought all the stuff to play mailfaux now am going to have to look into this as well and he was me thinking playing skirmish games would be cheaper than playing full table top wargames so many cool skirmish games to choose from urrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Wild West, what’s not to love!
Hi guys nice show,
for Warren: sheep in german is Schaaf. I have no ides haow to write that word in a way that you know how to pronounce it :-).
This is not just a comment written as a gratuiotous bid for free stuff, it is also a comment to say that the Wild West Exodus is actually looking good!
and the puma. and the sheep! need some sheep to go with my flaming cattle from mars attacks…
i realy like the look of that game always a sucker for western games
Thanks again for offering such amazing giveaways. Very much enjoyed this weeks show, I’m a huge fan of Westerns and when you combine the ‘traditional’ western with other genres (Magic, Undead, Steampunk, etc.) I enjoy it ten times as much.
Happy Holidays, and thanks again for the opportunity to win this contest.
Looks like a very interesting system, will definitely be reading up on it more
Wild West Exodus is a great game. Backed it the first time around. Had to sell most of if for financial reasons. Would love to get a starter and get back to it.
Great show guys.
Now Exodus. So many games, so little money. It’s not fair!
The Good ,the Bad The Ugly for the Win !
I know what you mean.
I’m definitely a sucker for some nice steampunk sculpts.
that’s looking very nice, really need to win the lotto to support my gaming addiction
Cant believe how cool that terrain looks all set up
Another great video guys. Jesse James looks amazing as steampunk miniature! Count me in for this competition. The Puma kit looks sweet also
this game looks awesome. I love the steampunk setting in the west.
Forget the sheep Warlord also have dead cows
Wildwest X wasn’t something I kept on my radar….but Wow! Im glad I know more about it now. Good sale I am hooked on this story. Look foreword to the theme week. This could be my first kick starter.
The Puma model is ace, didnt think I would be that bothered about details like that but its dam kool. look really foreword to more info on the battle of the bulge too.
Cheers dudes.
I imagine that ‘skirmish’ Warhammer Fantasy won’t be the kind that Warren is thinking of. It’ll probably be something more like 1000 point size armies. So, a unit of 15-20 will be a huge unit, units of 10 being more typical. – Especially since most elite unit boxes are now 10 models strong.
Got me thinking, there aren’t actually a whole lot of Wild West-themed minis games out there, are there? Can’t recall hearing of any. It seems an obvious scene for a skirmish/pursuit game, though.
Off the top of my head asking a couple of friends came up with
The Rules with No Name
Blackwater Gulch
Hey you in the jail
Legends of the Old West
Gunfight!
Gutshot
Desperado
Six Gun Sound
Fistful of Lead
and probably loads more if you have a search
WWX looks great. Thanks for another fun Weekender.
Can’t wait for the second WWX kickstarter!
Great show as always …loved the WWX game
looks like a nice game, can`t wait to see the actual play
this looks like an awesome game, I have to get me some of this!!!
I absolutely love Wild West Exodus. This game has eclipsed all my other gaming that I am doing. I bought the starter and now I have three burgeoning armies: Lawmen, Outlaws, Enlightened. I am also chomping at the bit for the kick starter in March for the last four armies. Its gonna be awesome!
Great show as always guys. can’t wait to see some of the WWE videos. Loved the board set up too.
wouldn’t mind gettin that there starter set.
WWX looks to be a good game but I would like to see a play-through to see how the system plays. Fortunately for me this is coming soon to beasts of war so I look forward to your shows. Thanks for another great weekender.
Can’t wait for your Wild West Exodus week I have the book, but no one in my group has wanted to play yet.
I have a love/hate relationship with WWX and Outlaw.
I love the models. I love the setting. I hate the fact I don’t have enough time to paint all the models. And I want ALL of the models. For every faction. 😉
another amazing weekender and a fun looking game thrown in to boot
I am really interested in this game now, thanks for the review guys
Finally ordered Modelmates weathering sprays after seeing the weekender. My WWX Buildings might finally be painted 🙂
Thanks for the video! Wild West Exodus looks interesting and two player starter would be a very welcome preXmas present.
Re the ‘Sheep’ on the ‘Flames of War’ site John Boultwood did an excellent ‘Dads Army’ force complete with a section of sheep in Tin Helmets and backpacks. I remember one of the episodes where the platoon dressed the sheep up as decoys. Would make a fun scenario!
When we see the miniature of James West and
Artemus Gordon from the original serie of mid sixties? 🙂
Another Great Video, I would love to try Wild West exodus!
I love that WWX is on BoW and getting some publicity. It is really a fun and cinematic game with some great fluff based around post Civil War era of America. Though it is alternate history but very creatively done.
cool episode as usual
I”m so glad i found Beast of War ! Superb job as always 🙂
Beasts* 😀
Looks like a fun game!
Oooh Wild West exodus looks pretty sweet but That Inn is incredible… Can I try and win both please?
Really liking the look and feel of Wild West Exodus!
Awesome show as ever
The models for this game are impressive. All of the factions sound fun and exciting.
Wild West Exodus looks like a really awesome skirmish game.
The minis for we look amazing
wwe starter pack. my comment is ‘let me win’
please
Entry please!!!!!
I just love the sheep
This interview solidifies it….I am going to pick up a WWX Starter Set so I can get some gaming in over the Holidays!
Cool to learn about Wild West Exodus. Looking forward to the theme week, battle report, etc.
man oh man wwx looks awesome!
Oooh, that table. DO want!
Damn, I kinda regret dropping out of the WWX kickstarter.
I really need to get some of my WWX models put together…
Great show as always guys. I have been keeping an eye on Wild West Exodus for a while now and I appreciate putting it under the spotlight.
Justin, I have never seen you as animated as in this show. It was almost like watching a kid with an open order in a lolly shop.
Would love some WWX. My wife fancies the Outlaws, so it’d be a great little game for us to play.
I thought I loved the the Warrior Nation and its Werewolfs and braves and then the Enlightened got me hooked too. Now we have the Watchers. Man it just keeps going from strength to strength. Great to see.
Love the whole package. Theme, Rules, Minis. Just love it! Great show guys!
I’ve heard it’s an extremely good game. But having Edison over Tesla is a huge mistake. Why people leave Tesla out of games is beyond me. Tesla would be an awesome addition to WWE.
Tesla is in the game 🙂
So many nice shineys i want, I didnt know there was a two player starter set, and that building is fantastic.
Wild West Exodus looks great. Can I possibly fit in another game?…
