Commissar Yarrick Returns To Warhammer 40,000 + More!
March 19, 2026 by brennon
Games Workshop dropped something of a cool teaser earlier in the week. Long thought dead (or just sleeping?), Games Workshop are bringing back the iconic Commissar Yarrick as the fighting in Warhammer 40,000 moves to Armageddon and a new edition.
Return to Armageddon // Warhammer 40,000
The new trailer (above) was the introduction to the man himself. It showcases the planet of Armageddon overrun by Orks, with the forces of the Imperium stuck in desperate last stands across its surface. Defeat seems certain, so an Imperial official, doing his best Denethor impression, tells the troops to flee. Cowardice has never sat well with any Commissar, especially Yarrick, and so he is executed on the spot as Old Bale Aye takes command and rallies the troops.
This means that we're getting a brand-new miniature for Commissar Yarrick to lead the defence of Armageddon.
New Commissar Yarrick // Warhammer 40,000
The new miniature for Yarrick is very in keeping with the version from the 2000s. He has had something of a glow-up but the pose of the miniature remains pretty much the same and he is more "heroic" if anything. You've still got the familiar stolen (liberated) power klaw, storm bolster, and blazing bionic eye that you've come to expect.
New Commissar Yarrick - Details // Warhammer 40,000
I think he looks great. Games Workshop made a bit of a mess with the new version of Inquisitor Coteaz, if you remember, so it's nice to see a classic Warhammer 40,000 hero given a bit of respect!
There's no word as to when this miniature is going to be coming out but I would bet that he is the major miniature release alongside the last book of 10th Edition Warhammer 40,000 focused on the fighting on Armageddon. This will then set the groundwork for 11th Edition and the new narrative and those Ork refreshes and updates that we've seen teased.
AdeptiCon Preview
We will most likely learn more about this at the Adepticon Preview for various Warhammer games coming next week on 25th March.
AdeptiCon Preview Teaser // Warhammer
This will be another live preview show that looks like it's going to be a healthy two hours long. It's at a reasonable time for folks in the US but once again, we in the UK and our fellow Europeans have to sink the coffee and stay up until 1am (GMT) on the 26th to watch.
Warhammer Preview // AdeptiCon 2026
We're going to be getting Warhammer 40,000, Warhammer Age of Sigmar, Warhammer: The Horus Heresy, Warhammer 40,000: Kill Team and Warhammer Underworlds in the mix this time around. I would guess that we'll be getting an hour of Warhammer 40,000 followed by a mixture of other games in the second half of the show.
Whilst I am intrigued to see what they do with Armageddon and the new 11th Edition reveals, I am excited to see where Warhammer Age of Sigmar goes next. I would hope this is the prime time to show off the Ogor Mawtribes refresh and the update to the Fyreslayers for The Mortal Realms.

My bet is: the commissar will be a pre order exclusive you can buy when pre-ordering the new box set that will be north of 250USD. But yes, the model is one of the better design’s G’Wullu did in recent times.
Same Yarrick, bigger lobsta klaw!
bigger price tag too 😉
more dakka ?
I have both versions of the previous yarrick and he is a great character (probably the ork player in me) but to me this is a side grade, so I’ll pass
As for the reveal its probably 11th ed 40,000, hopefully a full reveal and not some uninteresting attempt at hype marketing. Although to be honest I cannot see it appeal to me
He does look good any word on the price of Yarrick 🤔
for me, as far as re-dos for models, this one hits the spot. its got just about the right amounts of old and new in it. shame the new gazghull was so very over the top
Somehow Yarrick returned.
Looks way too much like the old one for me. Saves money 🙂
And here I am thinking that the archive mail order might be brought back. Silly me.
