New Assault Terminators Deep Strike Into Warhammer 40,000
September 23, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop has dragged its heels but finally, they are releasing a much sought-after updated kit for your Space Marine Assault Terminators. No longer will they be dwarfed and shunned by their Terminator battle brothers who got a brand-new kit with the Leviathan set for Warhammer 40,000!
Terminator Assault Squad - Thunder Hammers & Storm Shields // Warhammer 40,000
This new plastic set from Games Workshop comes with five miniatures, redesigned and updated to match the scale of the Primaris Space Marines range. This means plenty of additional height and a fair amount of bulk, whilst also making them feel a bit more "realistic" in their proportions.
When it comes to weapon options, you can go with a couple of classics. Above, you can see the setup for Thunder Hammers and Storm Shields, which is going to be perfect for pulverising monsters and smashing holes in vehicles.
If you'd prefer to slice and dice your way through a larger squad of low-wound enemies then you could also go with the Lightning Claws option.
Terminator Assault Squad - Lighting Claws // Warhammer 40,000
Games Workshop has gone for the top-mounted Lightning Claws design for these Terminators, which I think works quite well. They are also posed well, so they look like they are in the heart of the fighting, regardless of which set of weapons you pick.
As well as the weapon options, you'll also get six unhelmeted heads, five helmets, five tilting plates and unique designs and fifteen more accessories that can be purity seals, oaths of moment and more. The Sergeant of your squad will also have two choices of heads, a Storm Shield variant and a few more adornments.
Ancient in Terminator Armour
As well as the new Terminator Assault Squad, there is also a new character in Terminator armour for you to use as part of your Chapter's First Company. See what you make of the Ancient with his big banner.

The Ancient comes clad in revamped Terminator Armour and carries a Storm Bolter for hosing down his foes. He also gets the standard of the Chapter and a variety of different head options and accessories for you to use when personalising your Ancient.
This means that you now have a lot of different options for running Terminators in your Space Marine armies. If you're lacking these towering killers, then you might also be tempted by the Crux Terminatus Space Marine Battleforce.
Crux Terminatus Space Marine Battleforce
This set comes with a whole bunch of the new Terminators, the new character and a bunch of additional kits to help you run a solid core of First Company Space Marines in your games of Warhammer 40,000.
Crux Terminatus Battleforce // Warhammer 40,000
This set comes with ten of the new Assault Terminators, the Ancient in Terminator Armour, five regular Terminators, a Chaplain in Terminator Armour and a Captain in Terminator Armour. I can't see many folks budging you from your objectives with these battle brothers holding the frontline.
All of these miniatures will be available to pre-order soon, with the Battleforce leading the way. You will also be able to buy the new kits separately, soon after the Battleforce has been released.
Are you going to be picking up these new miniatures for your Space Marines?

Super Space Smurfs assemble!
But in all seriousness: weren’t Terminators and Dreadnaughts be something “rare and valuable” because they can’t be remade or something? And now G’Wullu goes “HERE ARE ALL THE TERMIES!” What’s the point in a heavy hitting special unit if it’s not rare? This is just an arms race on 32mm scale.
There is still the rule of 3 in 40K so at most you can only have 6 units of terminators in the game as standard. Which is probably about right for someone building a First Company-themed force.
Obviously you can have plenty of spam of units in the game but I do agree there is a horrible problem with the points-to-army-size in 40K at the moment.
You need SO much stuff to build even a 1000-point army, never mind a 2000-point one. I really hope if they do one thing in 11th, it’s to change the points balance to be more like older editions. Alas, I doubt that will happen.
They need to, at minimum, double the points cost of everything, if not have them all go up by 2.5x.
Chonky marines, very nice, but obviously the wrong colour. Why must they always release with Ultramarine colour schemes?
High viz on the shelves? Easy to do? It’s dem postboyz!
I don’t know why there is so much criticism of the upscaling of all the marine models, I’m getting older and hope the trend continues as it helps me see the detail for painting. Ideally the next founding will increase the Primaris to “action man” scale and I’ll be laughing 🤣
Haven’t they done so already with Joytoy?
I think the upscaling was justified for Space Marines and doubly so for terminators. I played a demo with them and loved them.
Mind you if I had a space marine army that was effectively invalidated by primaris I’d feel salty as well.
I dig’em. Good to see a Terminator Ancient for general release at long last (no, YOU’RE spicy you brought two of the Space Marine Heroes version…). Also, *very* intriqued to mix things up – use the assault arms on the regular Termie bodies and viceversa, and seeing how they can be crossed over with the Wolf Guard Terminators (he says, already having 30+ Space Wolf Termies…)
