New Vanguard Veterans Showcased For Warhammer 40,000
April 7, 2026 by brennon
The new edition of Warhammer 40,000 is around the corner and the new Armageddon boxed set comes with some updated miniatures for your Space Marine armies. The preview this week was for the Vanguard Veterans who have had a bit of an update.
Vanguard Veteran // Warhammer 40,000
As you'll probably be aware by now, the Chapter that acts as the focus of the Armageddon boxed set is the Blood Angels but you don't have to paint your figures in the red of those avenging angels. You could easily turn this fellow into an Ultramarine, Imperial Fist or whatever Chapter suits your particular collection.

Games Workshop pointed out that this particular fellow comes with a master-crafted power sword and plasma pistol, which I would imagine will be the basic loadout for this push-fit unit from the new boxed set. There's not much else about the miniature that makes him feel particularly "veteran" apart from some of the details on the legs and the crux terminatus shoulder pad.
Vanguard Veteran // Warhammer 40,000
This fellow feels very basic and "safe" when it comes to its design. I guess there's not much that they can do about the design if they want to make sure that it can be used across the board to represent different Chapters in Warhammer 40,000.
When you compare it to the older miniatures, you can see a notable difference, especially when it comes to the additional adornments. It's good that the miniatures have had an overhaul and now fit the same scale as other Primaris Space Marines in the range but they still feel a bit lacking.
Classic Vanguard Veterans // Warhammer 40,000
I would guess that when the full plastic kit for the Vanguard Veterans comes out, we'll get a lot more options and weapon loadouts. I appreciate the return of the Mk VII helmet into the mix for the Space Marines, though, as that's iconic for a lot of old Warhammer 40,000 fans.
Are you going to be picking up the new Armageddon boxed set for 11th Edition Warhammer 40,000?

Still a massive miss for me, although that primarily rules. The mini though is well excuted dullness
I prefer these sculpts to the old ones, they were too busy for my taste.
