And to engage nerd-mode: in the Original Trilogy Chewie was over 200 years old and the equivalent of late 20’s to a Wookie, so yeah an extra 30 years aint that much….
Yes, I remember reading the rulebook for the old Star Wars roleplaying game from Wizards of the Coast, and it explained that Wookies live on average to about 400 years. Don’t know if the Roleplaying books were canon though, but it’s all “Legends” now anyway.
I think they based that age range off the Holiday Special, so should still be canon. At the very least Chewie’s look at the end of the trailer suggests it should still be correct 🙂

One thing about Armada that I’m REALLY hoping FFG can introduce: barring the Mon Cal capital ships, pretty much everything from the Corvettes up could be found in Imperial as well as Rebel fleets (hell, that’s where most of it came from). Likewise more than one Star Destroyer ended up captured by the Rebels. might make a good upgrade pack just of cards & tokens to adapt players existing minis?

I just don’t know what to make of these Eldar models. The Harlequin release was great, and really updated the old line completely, totally refreshing the faction. Unless the Eldar goes the same route and the release is expanded massively I just don’t really see the point in this handful of really rather expensive models.

I will see you at the customs house on Friday night. A stars wars weekend would be good fun there is a nice variety of games to play. I had been looking at armada but the initial purchase is still a bit expensive for me right now just waiting till i can get it as little cheaper

I was never too interested in star wars but lately it’s pulling me in. That trailer looks amazing and Imperial Assault is one of the best games I’ve played.

Those Malifaux MDF counters look really nice. Have you guys thought of doing some Malifaux unboxing in the near future what with all there new figures coming out and maybe a battle report. Also keep up the excellent work there.

starwars weekend would be great but perhaps you may want to hold off for a little bit till early next year to see what surprises are in store regarding the licence .because you never know warren you just get to test your theory on weather a mass battle starwars game will be any good

@lloyd – Relics is ridiculously easy to start! Myself and several members of my local club picked it up about 6 weeks ago. The starter sets contain ~100pts (300pts is tournament size) and you’re good to go. I personally went for the Nuems (think Slaaneshi chaos dwarves meet Mechanicum)

I’m desperate to pick up some of the Armada stuff – think i’ll wait till more of the range is available and also to see if the tournament scene picks up in the same fashion that X-Wing did.
Also, on a completely different note, is there any chance we could have the XLBS in a higher resolution? I’ve gotten into watching the Weekender and the XLBS on a large screen and the differing quality is a little jarring 🙁

@llyod with regard to Relics for the Orcnar you can get away with about 16 – 18 figures about 10 of the basic guys 4 of the dogs 2 of the big hitters and a leader should be around the 300 point mark more then enough to get you started
My first salute coming up and I’m so excited. To me the trailer for the Star Wars film was everything the batman/superman trailer wasn’t.
Had my first game of Armada yesterday, it was awesome. A lot of analogies to X-Wing, and imho they work far better on this scale. Need more ships though!

Lloyd, look at the Ridend shields more carefully. The bug has a stinger, so it’s a bee, wasp or hornet, probably the latter two.
And your Victory destroyer was backwards with the most firepower in the rear.

Armada looks really cool, too bad it’s only two player. I’m looking for a new game for quick purchase-and-play, but we’re a group of three that’ll be spending the summer together, so we need something everyone can get into at the same time. Right now it looks like it’ll be Imperial Assault. But Armada is on the list for later 😉

Trying to avoid spoilers for Star Wars, and then even the XLBS shows the damn trailer 🙁
Great episode. One nit – picky thing with the Eldar pics though, the dude with the Swooping Hawk wings is an Autarch, not an Exarch. The Autarchs are an HQ choice and get to pick cool gear when they go to war, hence the wings from a swooping hawk and mandiblasters from a striking scorpion. Exarchs are the head of the aspect temple and function like a sergeant, with access to cool gear aligned with the temple they belong to and a slightly buffed profile.

So, shortly after John says that you guys assembling the bits are the quietest you’ve ever been on a Weekender, my sound actually cut out. It took me a minute or so to realize that something had gone wrong. 😉 (Though everything was back in working order after reloading the page.)

The Wookies indeed have a longer livespan. If I´m not wrong Chewie is already around 200 years in Episode 4. For a Wookie practacly a Teeny :-).

So let me get this straight. Are you guys inferring that Wookies use grecian 2000 and / or hair dye once they start to go grey? Do they manufacture it themselves on the planet Kashyyyk or do they import it – i.e. if I lived on Kashyyyk could I go to the local Shaman and find the usual Grecian, Just for Men (renamed Just for Wookie obviously) or L’Oreal brands, or would I find something made locally like Ruaarrrrr Agraaaaaa Kaaaaaaaaaaa! Agrooooooo Nahhhhhhhhhh Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaak! or maybe Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaakkkk!?
Is that why Han Solo has an affiliation with Wookies in the first place – he has a nice wee franchise going shipping hair products onto Kashyyyk?
