Mantic Games have delved deeper into the world of DreadBall 2nd Edition with another Designer Diary which looks at new teams, artwork and more.

DreadBall Cover

First up we have this rather impressive new cover for the DreadBall book which shows off their Robots clashing with the alien race, the Yndij. Talking of them we had a look at some of their concept art too...

Yndij

They are, as you might imagine, quite a fast and agile team. Their armour has been designed to fit in with their heritage and culture but also emphasis their sleek nature covered in blades, wings and 'feather' designs.

Clashing against them we have the Sports Robots who are a bit more clanking in their design but no less dangerous on the DreadBall pitch.

Sports Robots

This gives you a whole bunch of interesting options for the team showing off how the different positions will look. While it's hard to make robots look individual on a team level they seem to have succeeded.

Sumo Lizards are also on the way. I can just imagine them leaping up into the air and landing on their opponents, crushing them into paste or slag beneath their massive behinds!

Sumo

Some very awesome looking models I think you'll agree. The design of them has something of the 'Saturday Morning Cartoon' about it which is neat.

Keeping Order

Following on from the players there is also the one who keeps everyone under control. Welcome Refbot Mk II who has had a bit of an upgrade.

Refbot

She now comes with beefier armour just in case she gets hit as well as a 360 degree visor which allows her to keep her eye on everyone wherever they are. The design isn't final but I think they've done an excellent job here.

Finally we also have one of the coaches getting them riled up from the sidelines. Meet Coach Fergus.

This chap will be the Kickstarter Exclusive for the upcoming fundraiser. We also have a big video to look forward to so if you want to get a handle on gameplay keep an eye out.

DreadBall – The Futuristic Sports Game hits Kickstarter on Friday 22nd July at 1:30pm GMT

Will you keeping an eye out for this launch?
