Are you feeling all Hygge? Godt, because we have a sjovt game which will get your kreative sind working!

In Cøpenhagen, players must design new faςades for the buildings which border the canals in Nyhavn (New Harbor).  Through polymino selection and placement, players must attempt to recreate the design on their cards to earn points.

Special awards are given for extra abilities, such as creating a pure window front or overbuilding on certain floors. At the end of the game, the player with the most points (and the most beautiful Danish house, of course!) wins!

Cøpenhagen is another game in the long list of polymino-based games due for release this year. 2018 was the year of hex-based movement systems, and 2019 will be the year of the polymino. It's mid-January and I'm already sick of the word, to be honest.

That being said, Cøpenhagen is a very pretty tile-placement game for people who aren't as horrifyingly cynical as I am. I really love the artwork by Markus Erdt - I think it sets the tone of the game. It will be officially released at the Spielwarenmesse in Nuremberg at the end of January, but until then you can keep up to date through the Queen Games website.

Have you found a polymino game you love yet?

"A very pretty tile-placement game!"
