Snap Up Creepy Homunculi From Black Crab’s Kickstarter
September 1, 2025 by brennon
Inspired by more artwork by the fantastic Moritz, Meridian Miniatures are back with another Black Crab Miniatures Kickstarter. This time, they are unleashing more creepy Homunculi onto the tabletop with odd cavalry, diminutive familiars and weird creatures.
The Homunculi Vol.2 // Black Crab Miniatures
Leading the way we have the Homunculi Riders who have been roaming the world looking for someone to hire them. They fancy themselves an elite force but they have been patched together and restitched so many times that they may look a little bit worse for wear.

Each of the miniatures from the Homunculi Riders set comes as a two-piece cast, where you have the bodies and their separate arms and weapons. They are all cast in metal and should be fantastic to paint, especially with all of those oddities strapped and stitched to their person.
Bumbling alongside the Riders, you can also get your hands on the quirky Toybox Homunculi.

These poor homunculi/familiars never asked to be given life but now they wander the land, squarking and squeaking in the vain hope that someone will take them in and care for them. I could see these being absolutely perfect miniatures for a Witch or Wizard to use as their familiars but they would also be great as odd objective markers. I could imagine them in games like Frostgrave, but also the weird world of Malifaux!
Last but not least, we have the new Fish Hounds, who have evolved beyond the need to swim in the rivers and seas and now slither and flop on the land.

They could be a botched experiment or some curiosity, found in some dark corner of the world by a wizard. Now, they flop through damp hollows and mires, occasionally popping up at the bottom of wells seeking to drag unsuspecting folk to their death.
These new miniatures slot really well into the existing Black Crab Miniatures collection (more of which you can find on the Kickstarter and on the Meridian Miniatures website) and they would be perfect for those who like venturing into those Indie 28mm wargames that have currently populated the world!
Are you going to be backing this new Kickstarter?
