As big fans of DUST and all Weird World War miniatures games, Filamentio (aka Johannes Lehmann) and Patso_Catso (aka Patrick Wagesreither) have come together with a brand new Kickstarter campaign which looks to introduce a new range of troops, walkers, tanks and more into your alternative history collection. Check out Katharsis 46.

Katharsis 46 Wave 1

Katharsis 46 Wave 1 Kickstarter

The world of Katharsis 46 takes place in an alternative history where rapid technological advancement led to a ramping up of conflict, where the war machines of the past were replaced with hulking walkers, tanks and all of them wielding strange and experimental weaponry.

This campaign aims to focus on the first era of Katharsis (which actually runs through all the way to 1986 in the narrative) and the first miniatures for this range. There were three core miniatures they were looking to fund but more kits are being included as the campaign continues.

The current campaign focuses on the delivery of STL files, testing the waters with their designs and ideas before they open the floodgates. One of the first kits is for the Sd.Kfz.405 Wanze, which serves as a four-legged mech and a medium-class walker for your forces on the tabletop. It can be equipped with a mixture of different weapons and configured to suit various combat roles.

The second of the walkers that you'll be able to get is the Jagdlaufer "Hetzerwanze" variant. This is more of a stalker version of the Wanze, which has been designed so that it can sit a little bit lower and act a bit like a tank/walker killer with its front-mounted gun.

If you're looking for something different, the campaign will also offer files for the VK.062.45.LAM, which acts as one of the first bipedal walkers within the Katharsis universe. This was one of the first designs the team worked on and the project now includes an updated version to match the rest of the project. Here, you get the Mobiljäger 46 too!

Lastly (at least of the core offerings) is a walker for the US in the world of Katharsis.

This was another of their early attempts to bring the world of Katharsis to life and much like with the German walker above, you can pledge to get this plus the new redesign of the Madison which has been named the Jackson Hawk.

Bigger, more impressive in scope and featuring a new range of weaponry and pose options for you to choose from when getting your miniatures to the tabletop. I like that we have different design choices amongst the collection so you can show a transition within your force from older technology to newer designs.

The Miniatures

The miniatures have been designed so that they work with 32mm scale wargaming figures and as you can see, they match up very nicely when sat alongside some of the older DUST figures. There are also going to be optimised versions of the miniatures that work in 15mm so you can use them in smaller scale games.

This would also make them pretty darn good for inclusion alongside miniatures from the Konflikt '47 range and you could use them for plenty of good Weird World War skirmishes alongside what the folks at Warlord Games offer. The team behind Katharsis do want to make their own game but currently the miniatures act as their starting point.

There is much more being worked on as part of the campaign if this has taken your fancy. Stretch Goals have unlocked infantry, tanks and more, giving you an idea of where the team want to take the project. As they say...

"What makes "Katharsis" stand out is its setting across multiple time periods: 46 represents World War II, 69 explores a mid-era setting, and 86 moves from the 1980s into the modern day."

The campaign is already going very well and there's nearly a month left on the project for them to get even more support for their designs. I would imagine we're going to be seeing a lot more in the future for Katharsis now that this has lit a fire under them.

What do you make of the Katharsis designs?
