Check Out More Warhammer Empire Made To Order Miniatures
November 12, 2025 by brennon
Games Workshop are testing my resolve when it comes to Warhammer: The Old World as they previewed some more Made To Order miniatures that will be coming to their webstore soon. This new set of re-releases covers Classic Empire figures.
Empire Captains // Warhammer: The Old World
This is another hefty dose of old Warhammer goodness in trusty ol' metal. Leading the way, there is a great set of Captains with all sort of different weapons for you to choose from. You've got some great options here for on-foot heroes who could be placed amongst ranks of State Troops, keeping the line steady against hordes of enemy monsters. I particularly like the fellow with the halberd and the classic feathery crest, pointing out his next foe.
A couple of classic Command Sets are also going to be made available for your State Troops. If you'd like your command figures to stand out a bit amongst your plastic swordsmen, halberdiers and spearmen, then you could snap these up.

These are a nice, characterful way for you to expand your Empire of Man army. They aren't so out of place with the more modern miniatures that they'd look weird, especially once you've painted them to match your province of choice.
Empire Command Halberds // Warhammer: The Old World
No command section can do much without a unit to lead into battle and so you'll also be able to get some classic Empire State Troops with a mixture of different weapons. The iconic halberd is one such option.

If you prefer cracking out Nuln's finest, then you've also got the option of some Handgunners. The loud crack of their blackpowder weapons might be just enough to send the enemy packing and panicking, fleeing back into the woods.

Those who prefer the reliability of a bow and arrow can also join up with the Archers. Get yourself a good ranger or scout to lead these more lightly equipped troops.

All of these figures look great and cast my mind back to the Empire miniatures of old that dragged me into playing Warhammer Fantasy Battles. Empire was my first army, resplendent with ranks and ranks of spearmen, halberdiers and more. I had quite a sizable army but unfortunately, I think a lot of it has just vanished.
Could you be tempted by some more Made To Order Empire miniatures coming to the Games Workshop website soon?

GW must have read my grumbling on sunday….just bring out a classics range GW
Wow… I’ve never actually seen these guys before. I didn’t realize how much nicer they are than the current Empire plastics. Great stuff!
I loathe the Made to Order program. FOMO is real with them. If it doesn’t coincide with timing, then resellers just end up with them up on eBay at hyper inflated prices.
GW is doing a lot of good things to bring back older gamers with nostalgia; MTO is not one of them.
That drummer standing next to the one-eyed Halberdier champion looks a bit on the small size. For any wondering, that’s a photoshop mistake (or intentional nod to scale creep- I suppose I can’t know what they were thinking), the old minis are pretty good about being in scale with one another.
I think I’m lucky enough to have most of the command models from back in the 90’s (some still unpainted- way to go, pile of productivity!). These are really good sculpts, and it’s always tempting to see some classics you wished you had the money for back when you were a kid- of course, I imagine that when I see the price tags on these I might feel the same way I did then. Thanks for the double dose of nostalgia, GW!
These are indeed fantastic sculpts – and I agree, it’s a photoshop error as these were impeccable as far as scale goes. I’m not into fluffy empire but if I was … but I’m not.
