Dudes with big blades wearing freaky sheets? It’s the Sicarii!

After weeks of painting KOW Champions it’s back to hardcore rank and flank with my Hundred Kingdoms. Since the Cavalry list was completed I’ve been sitting on my next army expansion, the Theist.

Now the nights are drawing in and everything is getting grim it feels like the right time to get these done.

Now I’ve long thought that the Sicarii whilst simple to paint with just speedpaints might be sustainable to the old ‘coffee staining’ if I wasn’t careful so I wanted to experiment with how I’d get these done.

After a few experiments using a Halfords red (AVOID!) and Speedpaint I then thought about utilising Slap chop as weirdly I’ve never tried it before. So I dried drybrushed the ever loving out of a model and gave it a crack….

now some of you may have noticed that there is and image above with Ashen Stone that doesn’t look any different. That because I was getting carried away with new found painting styles and decided I’d have a crack at Non Metallic Metals. Now I should caveat I have not got a clue how this is supposed to be done so this will be purely Speedpaint over slap chop with some pure white streaking!

Now the model was effectively done and whilst it looked okay it didn’t look finished. I wanted to give it some more depth but as you know I don’t do line highlighting, it’s time to bring out the BIG GUN!

Yep, old faithful to the rescue, hit it with beige and then tint with wash. I did forget the red wash photo but you know the drill by now, 50/50 with medium.Yep, old faithful to the rescue, hit it with beige and then tint with wash. After the Red wash I used these two paints to dry brush over the high areas. These paints are really good for final highlights! After the Red wash I used these two paints to dry brush over the high areas. These paints are really good for final highlights!

Brain Matter Beige.

Have you stocked up on it? Army Painter is retiring the old warpaints as of now.
