CodeBlade by darkdanegan

We start this week's Community Spotlight with a look at what darkdanegan has been working on. They are a big fan of the Cyberpunk miniatures game, CodeBlade and have been painting up some of their new miniatures, which have been produced using an interesting method.

CodeBlade #1 by darkdanegan

These miniatures have actually been produced using AI and a whole bunch of wibbly, wobbly tinkering that I can't even begin to understand. They were then 3D printed and darkdanegan has done a sterling job of adding some paint to these miniatures to finish them off.

The idea was to produce the finished painted miniatures using a simple but effective paint scheme and I think that has worked. The idea was to follow the simple steps of basecoat, wash, layer, highlight and done. It meant that the miniatures were done pretty quickly in around three hours.

CodeBlade #2 by darkdanegan

I think darkdanegan has done a sterling job on these miniatures and done just what you need to make your miniatures playable on the tabletop. You don't need to go overboard to achieve great results. I think the colour choice is particularly great and really helps to reinforce the Cyberpunk vibe behind CodeBlade.

I also think the bases look excellent. Rather than go in and do all of the painting, THEN layer on the glow effects, just go straight for the glow and make it look effective with quick techniques!

CodeBlade #3 by darkdanegan

darkdanegan has plenty more miniatures from CodeBlade to get painted up and it will be fascinating to see how they come to life for use on the tabletop. You should also have a look at the project from darkdanegan, as they have been working on more for the game. They love CodeBlade so much that they have even been immortalised as a character! Keep an eye out for more from us on the idea of AI-generated miniatures and more in the future.

Nobvember by lazagram

Next up, we're having a look at the work of lazagram, who wasn't going to be put off by the end of Orktober. Why restrict your Greenskin love to just one month of the year when the perfect opportunity awaits to dive deeper? This is how Nobvember was born.

Nobvember #1 by lazagram

This was born out of the fact that Orktober ended up without much getting done and the inspiration just wasn't there. However, the chuckle-worthy Nobvember was enough for lazagram to get their arse in gear and get some paint down on some great miniatures for Warhammer 40,000.

Nobvember #2 by lazagram

With the Combat Patrol magazines swinging towards Orks, it seemed like a good time for lazagram to dive in and get some paint on these miniatures. The vibe was that they wanted to see just how much they could get painted during the month of November and with Orks, that's no easy feat!

I really like that a lot of the regular Orks have been painted with lighter skin, whilst the big, burly bosses that make up the ranks of this army have darker skin. It matches in really nicely with the classic interpretation of the Orks that the meaner they got, the darker their skin became.

Nobvember #3 by lazagram

Plenty of Orks have now made it into the collection with a judicious amount of painting going on that would make any Warboss proud. Well, they just wouldn't eat you for a day and give you a brief reprieve. The month capped off with some vehicles getting some paint on them and whilst that seems to have been the extent of the project, plenty got done!

That is currently a solid dent in the Waaagh! from lazagram and I hope that they find an equally good reason to keep painting these Orks throughout December. Someone, think up a clever pun quickly!

Sanguinius by guillotine

Last but not least, we're checking out a brilliantly painted miniature from guillotine. I can't believe that we missed this!

Sanguinius #1 by guillotine

This is an absolutely awesome paint job on one of the most famous Primarchs from the world of Warhammer: The Horus Heresy. Sanguinius isn't an easy miniature to get right but I think that guillotine has done an excellent job here, especially with his golden armour. It could be very easy for this armour to look flat but I think guillotine has done enough to really make it pop.

Sanguinius #2 by guillotine

I also really like the work on the wings. Adding in that bit of purple really helps to add depth to the wings for this impressive Primarch who is crashing down from the heavens to smite his foes on the tabletop. It feels very much like a proper painting rather than a miniature, if that makes any sense! There's something really classical about how the miniature has come to life.

Sanguinius #3 by guillotine

The base being darker helps to frame the miniature really nicely and almost disappears, which then makes Sanguinius the focus. Just what you want. An absolutely brilliant miniature painted up incredibly well by guillotine.
