Terrainfest!! I don't like sand. It's coarse and rough and irritating and it gets everywhere
I brush with Air!!
So I cracked out the airbrush and got to work.
started with the rattle can primer I wanted to essentially highlight the buildings but also add that element of texture and surface variation so it did not all look just really flat
Sprayed with the rattle can base coat
Then given a patchy highlights of a lighter shade via airbrush
Then an even lighter stage picking out the edges and upper sections a bit more to sort of show that baking sunlight and bleaching of the environment
A word of advice and/or critique if I may: I’d take some PVA and stipple it on. That helps hiding those pesky print lines and gives the surface some more texture to look “sandy”
A nice idea but too late for that. I had considered putting a fine layer of tile grout before I got started but I really just want to get this all done and table worthy so I am trying to limit the amount of steps I go through
