Wargame World War I With 1918 Core Rules & More Pre-Orders
December 10, 2025 by brennon
Warfulcrum Games are now taking pre-orders for the Core Rulebook for their 28mm scale World War I wargame, 1918. World War I is becoming a popular era to wargame in and Warfulcrum are backing up their rules with some great miniatures.
1918: Spring Offensive // WarFulcrum Games
We start with the pre-orders for the Core Rulebook for 1918: A First World War Miniatures Game. The Spring Offensive rulebook contains all of the core and advanced rules for playing out games of 1918 alongside Force Lists for the American Expeditionary Force Infantry Division, British Infantry Division, French Infantry Division and German Intervention Division. Both the American and French forces are their Early iterations.
Introduction Preview // 1918
Games of 1918 allow players to refight some of the battles in the last year of World War I. Games will often consist of between thirty and sixty miniatures and take around two or three hours to complete. You will be using a combined arms force made up of infantry, cavalry, tanks, artillery and even aircraft, all working together. There is also a real focus on the command challenges that the junior officers would have faced when leading men during the first truly industrial-scale war.
Morale & Pinning Preview // 1918
1918 makes use of Alternating Activation, keeping all players involved throughout the game alongside some key mechanics they really wanted to focus on. You will find Realistic Suppression, Dynamic Leadership rules and decision making where your commands have a real influence on the outcome of a Gambit that you take.
For example, where your leaders are placed is key, as you'll need them to issue orders to nearby units as well as trigger special abilities which break the normal flow of play. The Advanced Rules also bring in Command Dice to use Gambits from your Dugout Board. These Gambits are determined by your Nation and the style of Doctrine you decide to choose. All of them are historically plausible, so they won't feel at odds with the period.
Advanced Rules Preview // 1918
This plausibility extends to the forces that you play for the likes of the Germans, British, French and the United States. All of the nations have been researched to make sure they fit the World War I period that Warfulcrum are aiming for. Additional supplements will be coming that support more nations, fronts and...well, more.
You can find out more about the game rules HERE, so you can see if this might be the World War I game for you. The Core Rules are also available in hardback format, digitally, or as a full bundle if you prefer bringing both together.
1918 Miniatures
As well as the rules, Warfulcrum Games are also now offering loads of their miniatures for you to buy.
British Rifle Grenade Section // 1918
The current range of miniatures covers the British and the Germans, with more to come. Each set is available, for the most part, as either a digital STL File bundle or as a pack of physical miniatures that will be sent to you.
German Stormtroopers // 1918
For example, you can get your hands on an excellent range of British 3D printed for you by their partner, Feudal Forge Foundry. The miniatures, sculpted by Sam Kelly (and tanks by James Dilworth), can also be printed at home on your own 3D printer if you prefer.
German Rifle Platoon // 1918
I really like the offerings from Warfulcrum and it's great to see that they have not only been able to launch their Core Rules but also loads of the miniatures off the back of their successful Kickstarter campaign. It should be noted, they don't just do the infantry, as a few vehicles are also in the mix!
Whippet Tank // 1918
Again, miniatures like the Whippet Tank here are also available digitally or physically, depending on which way you want to go. The products are also very reasonably priced, so they could be a great start for your World War I collection. They would also be a good way to add more unique figures to an existing army made from plastic miniatures by the likes of Wargames Atlantic.
More is on the way at the end of December with a fully modular trench set, field guns, support weapons and their crews!
Could you be tempted to have a look at 1918 and their newly released range?

Interested. Would be more interested if this was 1:1 figure ratio system.
