Bolt Action Goes Digital With Slitherine Games Announcement
December 10, 2025 by brennon
Warlord Games and Slitherine have joined forces on a new digital take on Bolt Action! The hit World War II tabletop wargame will be getting a new PC game in the near future!
Bolt Action | Announcement Trailer
Slitherine are going to be adapting the tabletop ruleset from Warlord Games and placing it in the digital realm. You'll be battling from the beaches of Normandy and through Northern France as part of a connected single-player campaign, which will feature evolving objectives.

As this is an adaptation of the tabletop game, you'll also be able to customise your army using an in-built army painter system to personalise your force whilst still staying true to the period. Key mechanics from the tabletop game, like Morale, Line of Sight and Pinning, will find their way into the mix, so you'll be able to use your tabletop knowledge to your advantage.

Slitherine has also mentioned replayable skirmish battles with randomised initiative and varied victory conditions, plus a full multiplayer mode so you can compete online as part of ranked matches against other Bolt Action generals.

Slitherine mentioned that you'll be able to lead US, British and German forces on the "tabletop" but I would imagine that will evolve if the game does well. Even at this early stage of production, the game is certainly feeling like it has replicated Bolt Action on the tabletop but the proof will be in the pudding.
I liked that in the trailer, you saw the "miniatures" moving from being on their bases to being without them as they traversed the battlefield. It feels like a nice mash-up of classic toy soldiers but with a Bolt Action twist. Check out more for Bolt Action on Steam!
What do you think?

That interests me… if the price is right.
I’m going to pass on this.
Nah….
Interesting concept.
Not too sure if the developer they’ve chosen is up to the task as their one game has negative reviews …
The publsiher has multiple wargame titles, which makes me wonder why these devs were selected.
Now if “Hell let loose” was to add Horror AKA K47 i love that…. as for this…well done to all and fingers crossed
nice
I’ve read somewhere that they are planning on including a ‘hobby workstation’ where you can ‘paint’ your virtual models. So if you buy the game, you can now have a virtual pile of shame to add to your real pile of shame. We all need double the shame
That’s actually kind of funny lol
I am happy that this game can make Bolt Action available to more people, but I need no more screen time and for me, it’s all about the miniatures!
