Games Workshop will be introducing a new selection of Battleforce boxes into the mix for those wanting to pledge themselves to the Chaos gods in the 28mm scale Sci-Fi wargame, Warhammer 40,000.

Lords of Excess Battleforce - Warhammer 40000

Lords of Excess Battleforce // Warhammer 40,000

If you're looking to let yourself loose with Slaanesh, then you can get the Lord of Excess Battleforce. This comes with a good dose of firepower in the form of twelve Noise Marines and ten Tormentors. They are backed up by ten Infractors giving you some melee options and ways to take and hold objectives. Last but not least, a powerful Daemon Prince will end up swooping into combat and laying waste to what remains of your pitiful foes.

If you'd prefer to unleash rage incarnate, then you can also get your hands on the Khorne Daemonkin Battleforce.

Khorne Daemonkin Battleforce // Warhammer 40,000

Crush your enemies into dust and take their skulls with a mixture of daemons and mortals. Leading the way is the Lord on Juggernaut and following in his wake is a stampede of six Bloodcrushers. Send your foes scattering under a deadly charge!

As well as those cavalry miniatures, you also have ten Khorne Berserkers who will be following in the footsteps of twenty Bloodletters, relentlessly seeking skulls for the skull throne and blood for the blood god! Close combat is the name of the game here.

If sorcery and subtle cunning are more your speed, then you might also consider the Sekhmet Coven Battleforce.

Sekhmet Coven Battleforce // Warhammer 40,000

A very elite force of Thousand Sons takes to the battlefield with the Infernal Master and three Exalted Sorcerers forming the command element of your dusty, ancient force. They are backed up by the solid wall of ceramite that is ten Scarab Occult Terminators. A great way to defend those sorcerers and make sure they can weave the warp and tear reality apart around your enemies.

Last but not least, the set also comes with a gibbering and colossal Mutalith Vortex Beast that can be a distraction, drawing enemy fire whilst you make sure your tactics come to fruition. If they don't kill it, it will smash through the enemy lines and cause utter chaos.

Finally, you can also make sure that Grandfather Nurgle gets his due with the Vile Vectorium Battleforce.

Lord Felthius leads this particular cohort of Nurgle's chosen, supported by his Tainted Cohort bodyguard and three Deathshroud Terminators. Hovering horrors are also in the mix with three Foetid Bloat-drones laying down more firepower, harassing the enemies and darting around to where they are most needed.

Finally, you also have twenty shambling Poxwalkers that you can use to soak up enemy bullets and clog up objectives, dragging your enemies down under the sheer weight of numbers.

I think that the Emperor's Children and World Eaters Battleforces seem like they could be a pretty good, balanced starter option for someone wanting to start a new Chaos-aligned army. The Thousand Sons and Death Guard Battleforces are a little more elite, I'd say, especially with the Terminators thrown into the mix.

What do you think of these new Battleforces for Warhammer 40,000?
