Paleolithic Skirmisher, Hide, Stone, and Bone Coming Soon
January 16, 2026 by brennon
Osprey Games is close to releasing another of their Blue Book wargames for you to sink your sabretooth teeth into. Hide, Stone and Bone from Austin Hunt will be released at the end of January.
Hide, Stone and Bone // Osprey Games
Hide, Stone and Bone is a wargame about hunting and combat alongside the tribes of early humans and the periods of the Ice Age! You will track your tribe from season to season before getting embroiled in Big Days, which could include mammoth hunts, attacks by bears or clashes between rival tribes. You'll also have downtime to gather good, craft tools and weapons and consult the shamans.
The game utilises a d10 alternating activation system and a campaign system that forms the core of the gameplay experience. You will need to focus on survival as well as defeating other tribes and this can be done using solo, cooperative or competitive modes.
Get Yourself Some Miniatures!
In aid of those starting out in Hide, Stone and Bone, North Star recently put together some good links to miniatures from themselves that might be handy.
Cave Men Vs Mammoth // North Star Military Figures
Maybe you need some Bobby Jackson Cavemen? Perhaps dive into the Lost World collection via Copplestone Castings. You've also got all sorts of Beasts to choose from over on North Star and more via EMP Games. I would also suggest taking a look at the miniatures by Lucid Eye and maybe Antediluvian Miniatures in addition to the links above.
Will you be picking up Hide, Stone and Bone?

A bunch of my UK friends pre-ordered this. Looks like silly fun.
Looks like a great game. I actually have all the miniatures in that photo…and more, because I use them for Primeval from Mana Press. The same guys that did Tribal (a cracking little game). I will give this game a go for sure.
Looks cool. I really like Lucid Eye’s and Antediluvian’s minis, especially Antediluvian’s Harryhausen-esque dinosaurs and creatures!
I’ll put this one one the watch list.
Where is the squirrel and it’s big nut?!
Wrong era!
Agreed that the Pundancer is wrong… there needs to be a puking and pissing primate called Chaos from Primal Rage and a fire breathing tryrannosaur named Diablo
Definitely will be getting. Will also be getting Cavemen from Northstar, Cro Magnon & Neanderthals & Simians from Lucid eye, to have all sorts of tribes and Fun. Been looking forward to something like this for a while.
