Rebellion Strikes With New 15mm By Fire And Sword Releases
February 9, 2026 by brennon
A new set of releases are now available for those wanting to dive into the 15mm wargame, By Fire and Sword. Rebellion is threatening to bubble over with a new expansion for the game alongside a set of armies and additional miniature kits.
New Releases // By Fire And Sword
The new expansion covers the first phase of the Khmelnytsky Uprising, taking you to the Wild Fields Dzikie Pola, an Eastern territory of the Commonwealth. The Cossack hetman, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, has incited a rebellion and now stands alongside their former enemies, the Tatars, against the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Rebellion Preview // By Fire And Sword
On the other side is Prince Jeremi Wiśniowiecki, taking over after the death of King Władysław IV. This rulebook covers the Cossack rebellion and its development, as well as allowing you to play a full campaign. You have six new Historical scenarios in the book and new Army Lists for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Cossacks, and the Crimean Khanate.
You will also receive rules for various historical commanders, including Jeremi Wiśniowiecki, Mikołaj Potocki, Bohdan Khmelnytsky, Maksym Kryvonis, and Tugay Bey. A great chance for you to learn more about a different conflict in Europe.
Rebellion Armies
As well as the new book, you can also pick up a series of new Army Sets.
Rebellion: Cossack Army // By Fire and Sword
One of these could be the new Cossack Army. This comes with metal miniatures (and plastic horses where needed).
- Maksym Kryvonis (one mounted miniature and three foot miniatures
- Bohdan Khmelnytsky (two mounted miniatures and two foot miniatures)
- Rebel Dragoons (six mounted miniatures_
- Cossack Light Cannons
- Warlord
You also get all sorts of additional cards and other accessories that you need for running this army on the tabletop. Arrayed against them, you also have the daring Polish.
Rebellion: Polish Army // By Fire and Sword
The Polish Army comes with more named characters and chosen soldiers to fight against the upstart rebel Cossacks.
- Jeremi Wisniowiecki (two mounted miniatures and two foot miniatures)
- Mikolaj Potocki (four foot miniatures and a carriage miniature)
- Czarniecki's Chosen Men (three mounted miniatures)
- Mixed Small Cannons (two guns, six crew miniatures)
- Polish Wagon Train
- Loyal Registered Moloitsy
Again, you will also get all of the associated accessories that you'll need for playing as the Polish. There is also a Tatar Army that you can go and check out, giving you all three of the main factions fighting during this particular conflict.
Expansion Forces
In addition to the armies, you can also get some additional regiments and such that can help to bolster forces. For example, the Peasant Rebels might be good for showcasing those villages and towns that have been roused to fight against their overlords.
Peasant Rebels // By Fire And Sword
Whilst you might think that Peasant Rebels would just be armed with pitchforks and other farm implements, they were actually reasonably well equipped with firearms, as they were widespread in the 16th and 17th centuries in Ukraine. With that in mind, the Peasants of the period were known to march into battle with handguns, sabres and cleavers!
This set also works really well alongside the existing Cossack Rabble sets from By Fire And Sword, giving you ways to muster the 800 to 1000 Rebel Peasants that would have been fighting as part of rebel armies during the period.
You should be able to hold the line against the rebels with the Foot Guard for the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth.
Foot Guard // By Fire And Sword
King Władysław IV organised quite a significant force to battle against the Turkish and whilst many of them were disbanded, a 1200-strong force became the Court Guard. This well-trained unit of armoured pikemen and musketeers was led by veterans of previous wars fought by the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. Before the uprising and rebellion, they were led by Colonel Samuel Osiński, Lithuanian Grand Camp-Master.
If you want something to fight over, another of the additional sets from By Fire And Sword is the Cossack Wagon Train. There's plenty of fun stuff for you to pick up for this big expansion to By Fire And Sword II.
Will you be picking up these new miniatures and that new expansion book?
