New Plastics Riders Of Rohan & More | Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
March 26, 2026 by brennon
Games Workshop took a step away from the Sci-Fi with another new preview for the world of Middle-earth and the Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game. Some new plastic sets are on the way for Rohan and the Hill Tribesmen for use with War of the Rohirrim and The Lord of the Rings.
Riders of Rohan // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
We start with a long-awaited update to the forces of Rohan. They are now going to be getting a new plastic set for the Riders of Rohan, replacing the older sculpts which came out alongside The Two Towers movie many, many years ago!
The new plastic set should fit in nicely alongside the new plastic Warriors of Rohan that were introduced as part of the War of the Rohirrim boxed set that launched this new edition of the game. You will see some increase in the proportions with these Riders of Rohan but not so much that they won't sit nicely enough alongside the existing Rohirrim in your collection.
They will be armed with the same options that you've come to know. Hand weapons, shields, bows, and throwing spears for those who want to send their enemy packing before you even land the charge.
As well as the Riders of Rohan, you will also be able to get a new plastic Warriors of Rohan Command set that comes with some nice options for those wanting to lead when facing down the forces of Saruman.
Warriors of Rohan Commanders // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
This set comes with a captain who can be clad in either leather armour or heavy armour. You also get a banner bearer and another Rohirrim with a war horn for when you need to call your warriors to action. Again, the new plastics look good and should fit in nicely with the new Warriors of the Rohirrim plastics.
The miniatures come with a few options, so you can have them with helmets on or off, meaning that if you want to run a few of these, you can do and build the character behind your warband.
Hill Tribesmen
As well as the Rohirrim, we also have a new Command set for those playing as the Evil forces of the Hill Tribesmen. This set works the same way with a chieftain, banner bearer and war horn for use in your games.
Hill Tribesmen Commanders // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
This set can be used to represent your Hill Tribesmen from the era of the War of the Rohirrim but also those Dunlendings that have joined forces with Sauruman. With this in mind, the chieftain can be made as a Wild Man Oathmaker instead (see above).
New Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game Supplement
All of these miniatures will be coming as part of a new supplement for Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game, which focuses on The Burning of the Westfold.
The Burning of the Westfold // Middle-earth Strategy Battle Game
The Burning of the Westfold will come with a new linked campaign so you can re-fight some of the great battles from The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers and The Return of the King. There will be eleven linked scenarios following Saruman the White's assault on the realm of the Horse Lords. Track the fighting from the Fords of Isen through to Helm's Deep and, of course, Pelennor Fields.
Watch out for all of these new releases coming soon. Will you be snapping up the new plastics or the new supplement?

Those riders were seriously dated, nice upgrade. Hopefully the rest of Rohan gets the bump too.
I agree those are great minis. They got new Infantry with the new edition, all we need now is some Plastic Royal Guard, we won’t get them, maybe Resin at best but it would be nice.
The new plastics look great . The big question is the price !!!
Yes to all those Rohan things. I probably don’t need the riders but I like the way the new infantry scale with my historicals so will likely upgrade my cavalry as well
Not moved over to the new rules and as nice as rohan are I have enough riders. I may have to grab dunlending command though
Excellent sculpts but I have the originals.
