You're a pigeon minding your own business. Just eating some bread under a park bench when, BLAMMO! The Feds roll you up and throw you in a cell. "Felony Littering," they said. "Could carry a life sentence," they said. "Unless, of course, you'd be willing to help us out..."

So now, all of a sudden, you're not just a pigeon minding your own business. You're a pigeon blackmailed into infiltrating a Mob Family and eliminating them from the inside. A Stool Pigeon, if you will. a Stool Pigeon who is out of options. I mean, what else are you going to do... go to the police? That would just be squawkward for everyone.
