We're kicking things off as we get stuck into the Dropfleet Commander Boot Camp alongside Hawk Wargames. With it being Friday the Boot Campers are just arriving and they're getting stuck into building their fleets ready for battle over the weekend.

Agreed, I’m pretty salty about not having my Commodore rewards yet. Seeing the pop up store kind of pisses me off.

Yeah its unfortunate how long it takes. I just got my stuff this Weds (commodore level same as dahob). Retail is definitely faster but it will come. Have faith.

Somone needs to houserule rules for the resistance, let them start on the ground, give them lots of atmo craft, then they launch boarding actions up to orbit and use space stations. Somewhat reversing the way the game would play out.
Yeah, I’d love to see the resistance addded.
Yeah. Something very early on. Dave said they don’t have space faring capabilities. But that could always change.
Great idea. They would make great boarding teams.
I’d have no problem with a house rule for something like that on a one off, but I sincerely hope Hawk don’t add the Resistance to the game itself as it sort of goes against the background.
These are people who don’t have access to that sort of technology generally. I think the best way to incorporate the Resistance is to have them act on the ground targets in some way. If there are command cards similar to DZC then they could be incorporated in that way – as a bonus on ground assaults.
I think I’ll enjoy this weekend, really must try not to fall too far behind on the videos this time though. It’s much more fun to watch as they come on than cram them on Sunday night.

Has anyone done anything interesting with the resistance in dropfleet yet? Me and my mates started a campaign between the 4 factions and feral resistance over Eden Prime (narrative set just after reconquest phase 1 and the atlantic city incident). The campaign is on both dropzone and dropfleet at the same time and we just said that the PHR gave the Feral resistance a fleet and then Salakahn betrayed them just to give that player the option of fighting in ‘space’.
Looks great. Station models are fab. I’ve only played the game once. Love the models and the idea behind it.

I just got into dropzone commander, but this game looks so good, I think I am going to have to give it a go as well.
I’ve still got loads of assembly to go. I’m needing to work out what to do with my 4 kickstarter UCM and Scourge cruisers.

Have gotten one game in … Starter Set Scourge vs Starter UCM… really close game… 11-10 in favor of the UCM… the Scourge got the ground game, but the UCM one the space battle… looking forward to more!!! Keep up the good work this weekend!

Dropfleet looks like a blast to play. Got a chance to see some being played at Gencon this year and really wish I had had the money to pick up some of it.
Anyone know when US retail stores start selling them? My big local Game store hasn’t yet stocked anything yet.

This looks like an amazing bootcamp. Wish I could be there. Sadly work, revising for a exam on Monday and the fact the Mrs would probably kill me for missing another date night (I sweet baby it’s all work!!!). Seriously hope everyone has a blast this weekend. Been reading the Dropfleet rule book and have to say enjoying it immensely. Had one game so far which was awesome everything explodes … it’s great even when your own stuff is exploding!

Excited to see what this looks like in a competitive environment. Been putting together my kickstarter stuff for about two weeks, and mostly it’s been me trying to figure out what would make good fleets based off battles in my head. Interesting to see what these more experienced guys will pick!

The one thing I have loved about DFC and DZC, Is that I cannot get enough of the universe. Specially the bomb shell at the end of DZC RC phase 2. Plus unfortunately for my beer budget, I love every faction.
I…really love all of them! It’s been a pleasure to build my pledge and learn the rules for DFC that has been every bit as fantastic as DZC has been for me.
It’s just a dam shame there is so much to paint, and I have no idea where to start?

I am in the middle of painting my Scourge atm.. received my KS a bit ago. I will say the production quality is really nice. Looking forward to the nice mousepad playmats hopefully in the future.

Would love to be there, but we’re having our own little shindig in Gilbert, AZ, USA at the brand new FLGS that just opened last week, Games U! De,o Day for Dropzone Commander and Dropfleet Commander, and a small 4-player, 1,500 point tournament of Dropfleet. Gonna be a looooong day! Criminy, I’ve gotta get up in 7 hours to shower, grab breakfast and a Red Bull, and get up to the shop to finish setting up! G’night, folks!

@sheepman, there’s a chapter in the Dropfleet rulebook on integrating the two games in different ways!
Ok got the starter set recently and just assembled the UCM ships. went for a berlin, a Moscow and a Seattle on the cruisers.
Was wondering. can you just have deep space battles. Don’t think any scenarios cover that?

Just got my first game in last night with the intro scenario. Really enjoyed it. My opponent and I had a rudimentary knowledge of the rules going in, but even with all the rulebook checking it went pretty smoothly.
Lesson of the game, don’t let Scourge get into scan range of your ships!
The extra rules for moons moving and space stations moving each turn sounds like loads of fun.
i wasn`t sure about this game, but watching it in action i must say it is a fantastic space/sci fi game. i`ll be jumping into it soon.

I didn’t get the Kickstarter but I love some of the clever touches in the rules – not least the variable visibility, stealth shenanigans and what have you. Hawk (and the bootcampers) have a fantastic game on their hands!

Having to play ‘catch-up’ due to a working weekend! So, cramming all 3 days of Boot Camp into one Sunday’s viewing! Initially, my preference was to try and attend the ‘Walking Dead’ Boot Camp, but for many reasons, couldn’t make it. Having watched just Friday’s footage, am now ‘Heavily’ influenced by the quality, diversity and paint scheme suggestions on display, that now Dropfleet Commander has taken the lead! The only ‘down side’ is not being able to make my mind up on which force to collect…………..probably……..all of them, oh well! empty wallet again!!! lol! Happy Gaming everyone, looking forward to seeing what ‘has’ happened on Saturday and Sunday’s content, Wahooooo!
