We kick off Guild Ball Week with Jaime and Bryce from Steamforged Games joining Justin to give us some background into the world of the game and one of the Guilds, the Alchemists.

The Alchemist's Guild utilises their scientific skills to take control on the field with the use of chemical, gaseous clouds and acid pools, forcing their opponent's to think twice about where they step on the pitch.

i hoped you guys would do a guild ball week one day. It’s an awesome game and the sculpts are great too.
Never played with the alchemists before, but i hate them when a friend is using them against me 😉
Picked up Guild Ball kick off starter set at Salute after watching the un-boxing on the weekender Saturday morning so have been looking forward to this

Well after picking up Guildball kick off and the entire Hunters Guild Range at Salute I am ready roll. Looking forward to getting stuck into this game:-)
It would be the Hunters for me too. Something about having a bear mascot…….
The Brewers get a St Bernard who gives out beer.
The bear, Seenah, is not their mascot. The jungle cat, Fahad, is the Hunters mascot (and they have a wolf now too). The bear is a player!

I’m looking forward to this, I’ve held off investing in GB, mainly due to the apparent similarities to Bloodbowl, so will be interesting to have an indepth look at how the game works etc as I’ve heard good things.
I’ve just started playing GB and by now I have almost all of the models for the Fisherman’s Guild and around 9 models for the Union. I’ve been looking at the Alchemists a lot, but I think I’ll go with the Engineers next. But who knows… 🙂
This week is going to be a big distraction from my work. should be worth it

I was always interested in this game, as a long time blood bowl fan.
Curious how they manage to make the twist on the classic.

How did you guys know to put this on while I am on leave. Alchemists are one of the 3 guilds I don’t own but they are on the list to get. Really fun and some interesting characters.
I have never struck alchemists in a game … they didn’t really appeal … until now …. bugger……(I am one day going to have an alchemist’s team now … it’s inevitable) So looking forward to this week … thanks lads
They do have gorgeous sculpts. I keep thinking about pulling the wallet pin on this game but haven’t done it yet. This week might be the catalyst.

I love my Alchemists! I’m a Smoke captain player, haven’t been able to play Season 3 yet.
Very cool. Guild Ball hasn’t seemed to catch on at my FLGS. At least I haven’t seen much of it.

I looked into this game just before New Year this year. No one had heard of it locally.
Now we have at least 8 or 10 players. It caught on quickly because it is ‘characterful’ and a well put together rule set.
As for the Alchemists, I’m a simple man, so throwing around all of those templates and tricksiness isn’t my style. I play the Fishermen and the Brewers for two very clear cut playstyles. I was recently stomped by them, however, so I can attest to their effectiveness and synergy.

The Smoke character sounds like she has some cool abilities. The guild almost sounds like it has a “spray and pray” strategy of throwing out templates everywhere and having the opponent deal with them.

Alchemists look solid, although I’m not completely sold on a faction that’s so dependent on templates and damage over time effects.

Very interested in the Alchemists – I am slightly worried about their overall prevalence at the top of the leaderboards. Wouldn’t want to be playing ‘easy mode’!

I have not played nor do I own the set as I am still investigating. I assume because of all the Guilds. there is a meta game that must be learned with each Guild since there are numerous characters for each Guild? How important is the meta game?

Uhmmm… around 6:20 mark… they talk about Smoke using her Smoke Jump to Teleport into other AOEs… but one of the Steamforged Guys says she wouldn’t suffer the condition if she jumped into say a Fire AOE… (burning AOE I guess)…. but that’s not true from what I can tell? Page 12 of the Season 3 Rules… Any placement into an Aura or AOE is countered as ‘entering’ the Aura or AOE…?…

The look of this game really caught my eye when I first saw it.
The artwork and the models are all just gorgeous. Don’t know what guilds I would wan’t to get yet but this team’s players seem to have a good chemistry between them.
This faction is somewhat interesting to me. The characters seem a bit odd though.

This was only the first guild, but I fear I will like all of them.
Compound almost got bought as an “Alchemical Monstrosity” for a Frostgrave scenario in Dark Alchemy.
The Midas model is brilliant. These look fun to play.

I am not certain about which guild is for me just yet, I have some inclinations, but nothing certain. Definitely one that I am looking at getting into.
Nice always wanted to know more about Guild Ball and that little robot is so cute.

If they keep dropping templates they sound like an annoying faction to play against.
Really like the sound of the alchemists. Usually play a brute force team but they sound fun for a second team.
I have been playing Guild Ball for a little while now, currently play Morticians (have all the models for them) and also the Union. It is a fantastic game, looking forward to taking part in some tournaments soon.
So tempted at salute to get myself a team but there’s too much to choose from
The condition Game can be a powerful one. Spend all your momentum clearing conditions and your suddenly losing initiative and playing a very reactive game. Wait too long and conditions have ravaged your team and left them as easy pickings for a takeout.
Very cool. I have been thinking about trying out the Alchemists and this may be just the push I needed to start!

I play the Butchers guild…and should I get another guild team it would be the Alchemists! I love the conditions game and would go with Smoke as captain to get most out of poison, fire and smoke!

Being an Insider from the kickstarter I’ve got the bulk of the guilds and while I really like the look of the Alchemists I’ve yet to get them on the table.

Can anyone clarify the cloud jumper rule for me? The card doesn’t quite read how Bryce explained it in the video. I’d appreciate any help with it 🙂
I like the look of the Alchemist’s Guild, but i would have to see the other guild`s first before making up my mind.
The alchemist models are what made me get into Guildball. I ended up pickiing the brewers guild, but those sculpts were very impressive (and a nice change from restic)

The studio miniatures are superbly painted and the detail looks intense, but I am not sure this is the guild for me. I do however like Midas and his pose, but I am not sure if I like their style of play. But this is the first faction reviewed so let’s see if my opinion stays the same as we go along.
It is good to see all the guilds have there shine time this week. Have seen guildball but never really got into it. It looks like an interesting game and the miniatures are so good.

The Katalyst and Compound styles of alchemists are the most interesting to me.
Smoke seems like a really interessting captain. I just wonder if she can actually stop a team like the fish from scoring goals.
