Dying Star: Oblivion Finish Their Virtue Earth Reaver
July 11, 2013 by brennon
The Dying Star: Oblivion Kickstarter has moved towards twenty days left and with that comes a finalised miniature. Check out the Virtue Earth Reaver that we saw the artwork for not long ago.
This awesome looking figure has turned out very nice indeed and I like that he has a pose-able sword so you can tweak him a little to fit your liking. As well as being great for their game he would make an awesome role-playing figure. I could see him as a Human or Goliath figure for Dungeons & Dragons for example.
You can also get your hands on a version of the rules by clicking HERE. See what you think.
Is this one worth backing?

Final sculpt looks very nice indeed.
Hopefully we’ll see some of their ‘mermen’ and the ‘robot’ faction soon, so much potential being wasted away by not enough shineys on display 🙂
It really is a shame as of now they only have a fraction of the backers they need to get it funded let alone reach stretch goals. From looking at the KS page they do have something that can become a nice model range.
They don’t seem to know how to play the KS thing well. Its more than getting or backing something someone wants to have fund. It’s a form of entertainment, experience if you will and they aren’t filling that role very well.
If I where them I would end it soon and revamp everything once they are truly ready.
First off, make a new opening video that has no convention content as it looks way to chaotic and unprofessional.
The second thing would be is make the wording of your pledge levels clear as posable as you had to make a video to explain to people what they meant and even after that I was still lost on what some of them where.
Third is a little harder as I know us backers wish to have everything to the moon. You need to ask yourself if you where a backer would you think that some of your pledge levels are a good deal? Would you really pay $320 for a starter box and 1 in-house painted model? Also you have way to many club/store pledges.
The forth and last thing that would increase pledges is focus on the KS for the full duration of the campaign. Right from the get go it seemed you where convention hopping and long periods of time where silent. Have someone sit at the computer answering questions posting updates and so forth. Perhaps when the three of them are truly free to focus on this KS it will shine.
