Kings of War Week: Forces of Nature Faction
October 30, 2013 by warzan
Time for a look at the Forces of Nature Faction. Will Warren and James head off for a spot of tree hugging, or will they be calling forth the creatures of the deep woods to do battle?

Really want to make a wood elf style nature/elf ally list.
This is a really intriguing sounding faction. The number of combinations of allies is amazing. I was thinking of a Narnia army.
Or a Light side of the Force Jedi army with Kingdoms of Men warriors modeled as Jedi.
These guy sound rather nice.
Fire elemantls with Abyssal Dwarfs would work just fine. I probably would snag some reaper bones models for that. The salamders would be interesting.
Must say as well that the ideas bouncing around on this video sound rather cool. Keep it up guys.
And another entry….
Love this idea of mix and match armies. Humans supplemented by druids and elementals.
Nothing scarier than some trees!
Ok here is an idea, it may not be realisitc to do but I still think it would be cool. How about a earth elemental working with the undead? BUT the earth elemental arose from a graveyard so its composed of things like moss, rot, gravestones sticking out of it, and the best part is it could have some of the undead trapped inside of it (like rotten corpses that were in the graves that it encompassed as it rose from the ground!). Not sure how it could be pulled off but that would be insane to do.
Reaper minis has a model called the Grave Horror that is kinda like what your looking for. Could do some awsome conversion work on him to make them stand out and unique.
“Do what you like” – I love to hear this sort of thing from a game company. If you’re not on the Mantic forums, they’re well worth a look for the sheer creativity that goes into some of the folks’ armies (as well as they’re a friendly bunch with lots to smile about).
Looking forward to this model range!!
This is a very cool list. Can’t wait to see some models.
I love the Mantic Nature army. It’s as fun to play as the Undead army, but with the deept forest aesthetic.
I could see an interesting undead forces of nature army. Withered tree folk and grave digging gnomes.
Can’t wait to see what they do with the model range.
dwarves could use the models for obsidian golems and pull a head swap to make them look more in line with a good dwarf army.
Sounding great guys. My Golf Whiskey Wood Elves may see the light of day again!
Slowly I’m being drawn into this world. There’s a lot of scope put your on stamp on the game it seems
sounds like a decent army but not my cup of tea
come on, second KoW kickstarter so we can sculpt these suckers up
pretty sure forge world has some pretty sweet fire elemental models. The GW Tree Kin/Man for earth elementals? though rock beasts sound pretty amazeballs. I have an old tazzy devil figurine (from looney tunes) where his bottom half is spinning like a tornado. I cut of the top half and repainted… Wholla! – air elemental hehe.
reaper miniatures seem to have some pretty great elemental models >> check out this earth one !! https://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/elemental/latest/77185
i really want to win!!!
same!!
I have some friends that would probably like to make armies based on SEPERATE Elements (they play Elementalists in LARP and are Focused on their main Element) – Another Winning idea from Mantic!!
So if all the elements combine does that bring Captain Planet?
Id have thought dwarves would be attacked by earth elementals, after all how many elementals would have died in their sleep while the dwarves tunneled?
The Sea elves idea with water and air elementals I can totally see though.
It would be an interesting challenge to find models from other companies to build this army.
Can’t wait until these guys get released
Each army list gives me more and more ideas… I don’t know what to play!
I love this week, really great stuff from BoW and Mantic!
Pure elemental and spirit forces.
Will have to get these rules to check then out
Nice looking goodies
I think an army of angry gnomes would be fun, if you could find the mini’s
Cool Video. Thanks.
Has anyone else noticed that in the still image on the BOW front page, for the first KOW vid, Warren looks “hmm, I’m not convinced by this whole Kings of War malarkey”
In the still fir the Kingdoms of Men vid, he looks “Aaah, I think I see where you’re going with this (wry grin)” And in the still for this video he looks “Take me home and do what you want with me you lovely Mantic man you”
Anyone else awaiting the arrival of their Myth kickstarter pack in the new year? A few elementals in there…
You’d have to be eleMENTAL not to be impressed by Mantic.
Yet another great interesting video made
Looks interesting… made me want to rewatch all the other vids too now!
Forces of Nature… of course each army sounds closer to a particular Element or Elements. Using the FoN as allies seems great for feel and army interest.
Now, for the big question: when can we expect the models? 😉
Fernando
Interesting idea for an army… more likely to use these types of units as allies…
Forces of Nature seems very cool…finally a use for all of my elemental figures.
I think a combo army of wood / forest elves and some king of human / half elf rangers would be a great base to build an army on.
I have some old Fairy Meat models that would work well here.
I want a heart elemental that looks like Leeloo Dallas. Can’t wait to see the Mantic models for these.
you remind me of the babe
What babe?
The Babe with the power
what power?
the power of Voodoo
Who do?
You do
Do what?
Remind me of the babe!
Intriguing!
Interesting army – with a lot of scope. Would be interesting to see what Mantic will do with a figure range for this one. Love the idea of a centaur army but not sure if i could take a gnome army seriously though.
Forces of Nature are a cool idea. It makes me want to buy some Loka miniatures.
Warzan goes nature !
looks good
I could definitely see this as a Wood elf list as well. Easily use the standard mantic elves with each unit representing a different elemental.
I did think I would want elementals for allies of my forces, but then, I thought, nah, a whole army of them would be totally more awesome.
Elves and the forces of nature ftw.
Interesting ideas
Elemental themed armies could be incredible!
Even if I wasn’t playing them as a faction I’d definitely be tempted to have a big angry elemental in my army. Big shame there were’t pretty models to show off though.
Fire Fire FIRE
Elementals and TreeKin, and Treeman, and Dryad’s
Will form my elemental army,
as the forest animate in the defense of the realm
Oh man… When these models come out, I will probably have to take a look at them. The way you guys keep theory-crafting makes me excited at what potential there is to this faction!
A elements theme army
Might be interesting to take the fire elementals and some other fire based, then mix with a human army using a mix of the plastic samurai and some of the L5R Clan War minis to make something that thematically fits the Avatar firebenders.
an army of gnomes? amazing! ally them with the abyssal dwarves to get some weird mechanical contraptions if you want to get the warcraft vibe. for gnomregan!
HOMM Conflux Army anyone?
Elementals are awesome. This could be an easy ally choice to pretty much any faction.
I love the idea of being able to bring in themed allies toatch your army, particularly dwarfs with rock golems etc.
so many conversion ideas
No models yet?! Booo. I would have loved to see some elemental models.
Elemental themed forces are a brilliant idea… just need to find a way of making it a reality 😛
Like how it’s OK to use other manufactures figures.
This will be interesting only if they bring models out though and would be intresting to see if there small or big models like the ogres…
Like the look of the orges, though I do miss the big gut 😉
oops wrong thread :p
Hmmm… the gnomes remind me of the Nomes of Oz, (If you have ever seen the movie Return to Oz, where the Nomes are seen only as things in the walls…. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjfMRBY16RI Terrible movie, bad special effects, with some great ideas that were never really lived up to. But the idea of the nomes taking form in the rocks around them…. 🙂 )
The Auld Grump
Wow… my reply got chopped up bad, there….
The gist was that the Gnomes reminded me of the Nomes in Return to Oz – the above mentioned terrible, terrible movie.
hmm i like the idea of using relevant elements depending on main army… but what would ogres take… fire? air? earth? probably not water but being mountain folk i can see any of the other 3
Its always good to have lots of factions. Leaves so many modeling opportunities.
This sounds very appealing, but I’m not sure yet what models I would use. I do have the set of old GW elementals. I’m also thinking of creating something like a swarm. Since you only need to remove complete bases in this game the individual size of models doesn’t matter. I like the idea of these primal forces being able to manifest in all kinds of shapes and sizes. Think about a herd of wind-powered deer stampeding into the enemy. 🙂
Like the ogres, this is another army that I see more as allies than a main army.
