Kings of War Week: Undead Faction Breakdown
November 1, 2013 by warzan
It's time to head down to the crypts and uncover what we can from dusty tomes about the Undead faction for Kings of War. Vampires, Mummies, Werewolves and of course the stalwart skeletons and zombies are all present and correct. Time to take over the world of the living!

Undead are awesome and KoW once are also awesome.
Not the biggest fan of undead stuff in general but I do like the Were Wolves and the Mummies. I was supprised when Mantic released the mummy models as I thought they were gonna do something else for them. Must say glade they went with these instead.
I think an army of werewolves sounds like a sick idea, you could paint each group different colours to signify different packs
Love the undead, the masses and masses of undead rushing toward you. What’s not to love. I love the sculpts and the choices they have put into their armies.
undead are my favorite army in Kings of war. the tactical options available through smart use of magic can be a lot of fun. plus nothing looks cooler than a shambling hordes of the living dead.
an army of werewolves with some vampire special forces would make my day
Love Kings Of War one big Whooops
Those are some odd (fur-starved) Werewolves
I am going to pick me up some Mantic Undead tomorrow at Crisis in Antwerp.
Going for a true horde army, units of 40 skeletons, supported by squishies. Leading will be a trio of hags, for which i have to find models.
Undead Army of Uberness lead by Evil Grannies (no reference to my mother-in-law) FTW!
I currently have over 3k of Mantic undead(not counting the heros). Somehow I ended up with over a hundred zombies! I go for a large infantry horde. I use my werewolves to draw out the enemy calvery and than swamp them with infantry. I have 4 balefire catapults which usually occupy the enemy artillery. The shambling masses is what wins games.
Velly nice!
The all werewolf army sounds like a fun idea. I need to get into KoW first though.
They look really amazing, specially… well all of them! I did add a few minis from other companies that look amazing, a undead two hammer dwarf berserker ( YeS! ) and two dwarf Necromancer ladies 😉 , maybe i’ll make one a vampire and the other one a necro but they look great!
Amazing looking undead!
undead’s are always fun!!
Mantic Games oh how you addict me to your stuff. I need this army!
I love the Skeleton Warrior models. They’re great fun to paint!
Rise, my zombie giant…Rise! Mmmwahahahaaa!
Loving the themed week
i have so many damn undead minions i dont know what to do with them
Not the biggest undead fan but these are great looking Minis.
Welcome back to the land of the living now grab a shovel and start digging
I have tons of the Undead models, and they are excellent.
the undead army is the best around at the mo
Ah, the “Differently Alive”. Always have the Army of Darkness undead in my head for these armies. Skeletons shouting “Lets get the hell out of here!” never gets old.
The undead would make an awesome Army of Darkness army
I have a very large bones skeleton dragon that is going to be the centre piece of an undead army, KOW seems like a good game to try this out with.
Thought the gobs looked fun, but leaning towards these guys.
Most undead armies bore the life out of me, this one is awesome.
I think undead is the strongest model line.
Mmm… Eeeeevil….
AH HA! At last I can hear about these guys! ABOUT TIME! LOL!
Well I have this idea for some time. War and Death surrounds every where. A Kingdom of Man leader came up with an ‘Brilliant’ Idea! Why send our people to die needlessly, when we can send the already dead!
No ‘fleshy’ undead, just the Skeleton. All that rotting flesh is a health nightmare. The undead are the unyielding shield of the people. With humans bringing the heavy hitting, elite stuff.
Looks Good.
army of darkness undead are best undead “its the one in the car we want”
Now I really really want an army of skeletons, whereas before I only really wanted one
It would be nice to see undead models of the other races such as the dwarves, elves, and orks. I guess if you’re good with the green stuff you could convert.
With out a doubt the best army Mantic has made so far. Have all units except characters. Just started painting Were Wolves. If anyone is ready to play Kings of War this is definitely the army to use.
cool werewolf’s
Aaah my undead pretties. I love the mummies. Great menacing appearance, they will be my first Mantic purchase for sure.
The ghouls also look malicious. I love ’em.
I guess I will be build ing up both my GW orcs and GW undead and expanding with Mantic mini’s.
Oh, gotta get the rulebook too. 🙂
Really like the variety of the undead army.
I have to say after seeing the Mummies in play and seeing the beatings they could take, I was impressed. Could totally make an army centered around them.
Going to make some conversions for Bloodbowl I think….. necromancer team
Brutales los hombres lobo, siempre he esperado que igual que habia unidades de ogros las hubiese de hombres lobo y estos son geniales. 🙂 ↑.
with the allies system I would love to do a human and undead army, but have a voodoo theme so the zombies are more just posessed people
not sure if i have said something to enter com sorry if i have already comment
Man I really love the KoW undead faction, it was always going to be my next army but now thanks to these videos I’m torn between them, ogres, goblins, Basileans and Abyssal Dwarves!
Soemtimes i think the term undead could be considered Politically Incorrect – these are the Living Impaired!!
Love the Werewolf Pack Idea, and I know my Friend James would certainly consider that Money well spent!
I am a Necromantic Horde Player, I go for Ma-hoooo-sive units of Zombies, Large units of Skeletons backed up by Wraiths/Ghosts – never really used Ghouls or Cavalry (In my GW armies) but certainly will be looking into all options for my Mantic Force!
I would love to do a Warcraft “Scourge Army” led by the lich king himself
I have to say, they have build a good looking model range and i hope they will go on!
I do like the look of those ghouls
An all werewolf army would be pretty awesome, could even ally some other faction to get a GIANT werewolf!
The ghoul models are pretty awesome. On the Mantic site there is also a limited edition ghoul champion to go with them.
An army of werewolves sounds brutal, when’s the next full moon?
Mantic’s undead really do seem to capture the feel of great shambling horde. Lots of variety but a common theme that binds them all together.
not a fan of the catapult and werewolves but everything else looks awesome
A werewolf army sounds really, really cool!
Yep, the best undead on the market for mass armies, already have an undead giant, dragon and chariot for my army. Just can’t get past the necromancers.
Have the two player starter set, will have to get them painted!
I can’t stand zombies, but i love skeleton men and werewolves
The undead are so easy to love.
I had Undead in WFB these are just as good model wise but would paint those werewolves brown or gray not flesh coloured but that’s just me,
thats it i want this army, TAKE MY MONEY NOW!!!!
Loving the vids guys. Now which army to buy without the missus knowing 🙂
Undead are my second army – right after Dwarfs.
I am sorry that you didn’t pop up a picture of the Liche King – he is an absolutely brilliant model, with an revenant EXPLODING out of the ground at his command. (He is the big baddy in a Pathfinder game that I run the figure has lots and lots of attitude.)
The Werewolf army sound excellent – and it is possible that the ghouls show up just as opportunists – cleaning up the delicious fresh meat that the werewolves leave in their wake.
I would love to see a Werewolf Hero.
The Auld Grump
I’d probably have to go either Army of the Night with Vampires and Werewolves. Or straight up angry dead. Revenant Lord and tons of skeletons.
best undead i have seen in figures thats for sure 🙂
The Undead army is a blast to play with. My only problem with it is also one of KoW’s maine selling points – it’s too big! I don’t know where I would find the time to paint a whole one.
Hi Miles, they are seriously the easiest army to paint and there are tons of video tuts on the subject. I spray with white primer, use a red and purple wash and dry brush with a dead flesh. Darken with a sepia wash and you are done. I don’t personally use they Army Painter dips but I would think they were made for undead figures. The thing I love about Kings of War is the emphasis is on playing the game rather than scrutinising the figures under a microscope. I’ve just converted from 20+ years of 40k and I’m loving it 😉

The Undead Army looks interesting to play.
not at all dead
Undead, way to go
love the idea of regiments of skeletons moving eerily quiet across the battlefield nothing but the grating of bones then as they cut down their foes the freshly dead filling up behind them the flesh sloughing off the bodies due to the presence of so much magic making the enemies friends shrivel before them. the last thing some poor basilean sees is his friends grinning skull… totally have to do this now -_- ogres twilight kin and undead? gah!
Army of Darkness was what got me interested in the Undead in the first place and I have to say that I would love to have a Bad Ash model leading my army with the Necronomicon.
Lovely skellies
But where will I put my skeleton chariots, zombie dragons and undead dinos?
Those werewolves look awesome, forget the worn-out Orc ‘Waarg’, let’s get a Kings of War Werewolf war cry out there!
