With the release of the new Ogre Kingdoms Army Book, Darrell and Andy discuss the updates and Darrell gives us an insight into his favourite WHFB army.

Go on make a gnoblar army http://www.alamogt.com/pdf/Gnoblar-Horde.pdf
Thanks so much for this!!! Excellent BoW.
All hail new overpowered army of WHFB!
I’m sure Darrell could make a cheesy army.
saw a dwarf player beat these on release day lol
I think you guys are inflating the Gnoblars a bit in the video, you will never get to throw 40 dice at a monster as most monster bases are usually chariot size allowing for about 15 attacks at most from a horde. Of course the chances of grinding down something big are still pretty good provided you have numbers and the general/BSB bubble over them. Very good roadblock unit, but suspectible to AOE templates.
@mecha82,
I have yet to face Ogre Kingdoms in its new form, but I’m not really that afraid of it. After all is said and done, yes they hit hard but then they are with few and will get grinded down. If you can deny them some important charges you will most likely come out on top… Unless you follow White Dwarf tactics where they field ushabti with great bows, tiny unit of skeleton archers and tiny lets do nothing units of skeleton horse archers against the Ogres
@mecha82 How are they OP? None of the new books have been op at all. I’m seeing lots and lots of ways to mess up ogres. Lore of Shadows being the most obvious, anyone who tries to make an ogre deathstar is going to be in big trouble during the magic pahse….but also….if your army is fast…you can probably control their movement without too much trouble. Small units of ogres can be dealt with as long as you avoid getting charged. If your army is slow…..you probably have lots of high st. shooting that does multiple wounds…
Don’t forget mean things like cannons, which can remove an ogre with one shot, are more accurate these days. Ogres were seriously in need of an ‘upgrade’ as they had trouble fighting ranks of little guys. It looks like the new Ogres really need to get their charges in, otherwise they’re in trouble.
@t9nv3 If you have not noticed GW is not even trying to balance they games so every army that gets new book is even more powerful than previous onces. So of course Ogre Kingdoms is now new overpowered army in WHFB so that people will start buying it.
@mecha82 I agree with some of what you are saying. GW has, to a large extent released op book after op book. 7th ed WHFB was a complete disaster for power creep…..but the new books since 8th’s release have been excellent. You dont, for instance see any of the new books at tournies….cause they just arn’t as powerful as 7th ed books. I personaly cant wait for them all to be gone
I actually think you’re wrong there. That might have been the case before, but the last two armies books all seemed pretty reasonable. Nothing about the new orcs and tomb kings has screamed over-power or unfair. There’s nothing in them that screams ‘unfair’. The Ogres were always heavily underpowered because of the game mechanics – the 8th edition new rules already, quite obviously, was designed to bring Ogre armies back up to spec, thus the ‘stomp’ rule. 7th edition was unbalanced but there has been a REAL attempt to sort this out and get everyone to a level playing field. For once GW have got it right. I mean, what exactly can you point out in the new Orcs and Tomb Kings that is unfair? When I read those two books they seemed very balanced to me.
@mecha81 – I disagree, all the Fantasy armies are generally balanced. I don’t know of any that would be deemed overpowered. It is one of the many reasons why I prefer Fantasy over 40K these days.
@mech82 i think you must play 40k… i’ll agree that in 7th there was horrific power creep in the army books towards the end, from what i have seen so far in 8th it has been all of a positive trend, only time will tell as to wether GW will introduce power creep into there 8th Ed WFB army books.
Please don’t sit there and blindly state that an army book that has only been in public circulation for a few weeks is over powered and broken, when the last 2 books have been obviously not… such statements are lacking any form credibility and not needed.
Warhammer is the 4th Edition D&D of the wargaming world, utterly balanced for all involved lol. Everything planned down to the most minute detail 😛
@brennon Unless you’re a Dwarf Fighter with a bonus to STR instead of WIS… then it breaks… 😀
lol yeah, the exception to the rule haha. Good old dwarves 😀
I dont play warhammer fantasy these days, but always liked the ogres as models, ,might have a go at painting a few over this winter.
Having said that, some of the prices are obscene, that scrag the slaughterer pulling the cauldron thing is £36 , for a single model.
I just bought in my ogres so I’d much appreciate some more videos!
I am sad they moved the Ogres from blue/white/stone coloured to flesh coloured again 🙁 I liked the ‘otherworldly’ colour of their original paint scheme.
I think you guys are giving Goblers too much value. They went up in price, mean while Ogres and Ironguts went down. If you want Core, Goblers are the last choice.
people are getting confused about ogres being overpowered. They are meant to be huge, big, stat busting guys and that’s all you’re looking at, you haven’t seen them play yet and they are alot of negatives with this army. Stats don’t win a game alone.
Negatives? There are a few, but they don’t affect the list at all. Sure, we got expensive junk characters, so I’ll just load up on casters.
Most of the magic items are over-priced, and their affects nerfed, but I can squeeze some worth out of them. I still have the magic item list in the WHRB, and my Slaughtermaster just loves his Fencer’s Blades.
The “big names” are the same, and the hunter is still a useless choice, regardless of his ability to ride a Stonehorn.
Ironfists are shields in all respects, giving our force more staying power against missile fire (screw up skinks!) and in CC. Plus the MFC gets a parry save in CC, unlike other mounted units.
Got gnoblars? No problem! Large blocks as tar-pits, small units for “speed bumps”, or small trapper units to protect the flank of leadbelchers.
Leadbelchers can fire every round, and can “move and fire”.
Maneaters with braces of ogre pistols, “scouts” and “sniper”? Yes, please!
Ironblasters, a S10 cannon on a chariot? Hm, should I blast you to bits or run your ass over?
While your deciding on which of my units to fire at, my sabretusks made it down a flank and are swallowing your war machine crew whole.
Yhetees and gorger are about the same , but just as killy.
Mournfang cavalry. Enough said.
I love may shaggy beasts of dustruction, and our giants have stubborn. Woo hoo!
Lore of The Maw & Lore of Beasts, ftw, baby!
