At the heart of 1918 is a focus on decision-making and command. Alternating activations keep both players constantly engaged, while a layered suppression system—featuring states like Under Fire, Pinned, and Suppressed—rewards historically accurate tactics such as fire and manoeuvre. Leadership plays a crucial role, with officers issuing orders, boosting morale, and triggering key moments that can turn the tide of battle.
Add in Doctrine choices like Lightning Assault or Tactical Defence, and you’ve got a system that offers depth, replayability, and a strong sense of historical authenticity. With around 30–60 miniatures per side, the game captures the intensity of combined arms warfare, where infantry, tanks, artillery, and leadership must work together under pressure.

The video is either set to private or contains a lot of privates. Either way, can’t see it! Camouflage?
wrong link, because I’m not clever, sorted now
Hello Not Clever, I’m dad.
My wife leaned over my shoulder and asked why I was watching bargain hunt. It’s those red and blue tops. Anyway nice video. I’ve enjoyed reading the book myself. Nice historical quotes and photographs. It’s the best ww1 set I’ve read since warhammer historical great war which was basically 40k but it’s over the top supplement was great for the operational campaigns and I got a similar vibe from the 8 scenarios in this book which make a great campaign if you string them together.
That sounds like a good buy, if it’s like WHH – that was a good ruleset.
