Craftworld Iyanden by grantinvanman

We start off this week with a look at some more brilliant work by grantinvanman. They have been working on a brilliant set of Aeldari miniatures for Craftworld Iyanden.

grantinvanman-pathfinders

grantinvanman has done some excellent work on these miniatures, playing around with all sorts of different schemes. I was particularly drawn to the cold scheme for these Rangers, which works really well as a flip of the traditional Iyanden scheme, which is normally predominantly yellow. It suits the cold setting and works nicely.

Some awesome Aspect Warriors have also joined this collection. Here, we have the Fire Dragons, eager to blast holes in vehicles as they get disgorged from a Wave Serpent.

Again, the schemes look great and I think the highlight on these is really pointed, drawing the eye to the right parts of the miniatures. The helmets, being a mixture of yellow and blue, helps to tie them into the Iyanden Craftworld without taking away from that classic Fire Dragon look.

Last but not least, from our collection, we also had this stunningly well-painted Jain Zar.

Again, those nice touches of yellow and blue here tie things to Craftworld Iyanden. The bone armour also looks stunning and sells the freakiness of the Howling Banshees and Jain Zar. A great range of miniatures for this growing Aeldari force. See more after checking out the project!

Shieldmaidens by horati0nosebl0wer

Next up, we change over to the Dark Ages and an awesome army of Shieldmaidens that has been built and painted by horati0nosebl0wer.

horati0nosebl0wer-warlord

horati0nosebl0wer has been working their way through yet another awesome SAGA: Age of Magic force, this time with a theme built around the mighty Shieldmaidens. It essentially works as a standard Viking force but can be enhanced into a Fantasy force with a few tweaks here and there.

The miniatures have come together really nicely and the painting on these figures works very nicely. I think the blues and reds are a nice contrasting colour for the army that both covers the cold of the Northern climate they fight in but also the warmth of hearth and home. The Shields all being different helps to introduce the idea of them being different families coming together for battle.

It's a great set of miniatures and only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to this Shieldmaiden project. You also get some great mounted units in the project and some with a Fantasy twist. Why would you not run a unit of charging walrus with shieldmaidens on the back of them?

The Lion by soapdodger

Last but not least, we're having a look at soapdodger's work on The Lion.

soapdodger-Lionel-Final

This is the first miniature that soapdodger has finished for 2026 and this is quite a doozy. You might have guessed that we've picked this because it's bloody awesome and really looks the part when trying to showcase just how The Lion should look. The deep green contrasting with the rich red helps to give him a noble counternance.

As you can see, soapdodger has done a sterling job on painting this and the different layers of the miniature. It was quite annoying at times, especially with the cloak on top of a cloak on top of another cloak! The non-metallic metal work on the gold also works really nicely.

You can follow the process of how this miniature has come to life over on the project. If you're looking to do this style of painting for yourself, you've got everything you need here from soapdodger. Glorious work.
