It’s the XLBS Show………Happy Sunday Fellow CoGs! ??
Glad your doing better @dignity I do hope you conquer your smoking habit. My dad fought it for decades. Six time he went under the knife and six times he eventually went back to smoking.
I look forward to OTT doing DEEP-DIVEs in, (I hope), the near future! ??
I’m sorry @brennon but………..the Templars RULE!!! ???
correct
@lloyd I DO remember the Battle at the Beach experiment!
I’ve experimented myself with Tiny-Fighting-Men ‘Battle in the Garden’ in my backyard!
Kansas wind makes things very interesting……
Happy Sunday,
may your sunday be filled with the beauty and the Greatest movie ever made.
yours truly
FYI,
A heart attack in the USA is just shy of 1 million dollars.
bargain, I’ll take two
I found it easy to give up smoking using Champix I presume you can get it prescribed in the UK
How the hell does someone manage to through life not eating veg. Though that saying I have a mate who doesn’t eat fruit and never will, but will drink fruit based alcohol lol. Maybe that’s the answer find Justin some alcohol made from green vegetables.
Names for the slingers; Bob and Kevin. After leaving the army I gave up smoking. I decided to just stop and replaced the addiction with fitness. I started running and going to the gym. I found that having something to occupy me helped to ignore the craving.
Here’s the solution to getting more vegetables into Justin. Vegtable Ale;
https://swirled.com/vegetable-beer/
Bloody Mary’s would seem the ideal choice
you might just have a point there if you’ve been for a drink with Justin at salute you will know he drinks anything put in front of him, it can be pink and frothy green and frothy and come in any order hes like a sink. The next morning he may not look pretty, but hes up and about when id be half dead with my head in a bucket.
no wonder he survived this latest scare hes part pickled @dignity its good to see you up and about mate.
Welcome back Justin looking good for a man who’s kicked deaths ass. All uphill from here ?
The inside of the veins really does look like something out of next generations. Very much enjoying g the walking dead project. If your looking for inspiration and good listing while you work try Omega Days (in full on YouTube) it’s a pretty good zombie audio drama although my favourite remains Pontypool. I love painting outdoors in my garden but I don’t think a project would travel with me on holiday although a load of books usually do so I’d likely manage.
Glad to see that Justin is doing better. Wish you the best mate!
Welcome back Justin! Sometimes the best thing you can have is an early warning when you’re strong enough to recover, and then adapt to a healthier(ish!) lifestyle.
Names for the Balearics? Hmm… Ruptured Balearic, Distended Balearic, Kickedinthe Belearic. Sorted.
I’ve enjoyed the pleasure of travel hobby kits recently. It’s a good way to grind through troops. It’s not so bad when you’re somewhere different and not rushing around. Quite therapeutic. And you can come home with that done and looking forward to working on the characters.
It’s XLBS show time??
Great to have you back Justin, you have been missed. Giving up smoking is never easy, I know I’ve had 4 occasions where I’ve given in, but thankly each occasion has only lasted between 5 to 12 days then i’ve just stopped. So hang in there mate, it’ll be worth it in the end.
@lloyd, why not just call your two minis Ben and Jerry. Then look up how there spelled, and take it from there.
It’s easy as heck. Sadly it’s even easier to start again. Seven years free, here, still the best thing I’ve done in my life.
Great to see you back Justin! Quitting smoking is not easy, it’s been over 10 years since I quit, but I know you can do it! And maybe nomming on some vegetables is a good distraction from smoking. ??
I would love to see some lore videos.
I am going to be at my mom’s for 2 weeks now, since they are renovating my apartment and I am taking stuff with me to paint. Some lizardmen and just the paints and tools that I need, I primed them all beforehand. So it is kind of my holiday painting thing.
An the moral off Justin’s story is never look at the gas bill standing up ?
LMAO
Yes, another foray into the world of sexual BS. This week is full of insane ideas of going Beyond the Threshold (the place I hear cats always want to be but reconsider when meeting it).
@dignity returns and plays Show&Tell with his anatomy for all to admire in high definition 4k (40k?) inspiring Internet searches and all the SFW content (I Horatio Noseblower swear this is fact).
@brennon suggests some weird idea nonsense of trying to do hiking outdoors life stuff with mini painting (opposing yin/yang or Force elements) but regains his sanity and goes back to badgers.
@lloyd decides to cover how he’s finally gotten around to wearing pants for the camera and later how he’ll run away with his Bolerics Petras Chukkis and Concretius Lobbis to faraway lands in attempting to move in on the Spring Clean Challenge.
@avernos acts as the only voice of reason and discusses the finer points of drinking and the entertainment value of mammalian protruberances and mini painting.
Glad you made it Justin. Get well soon. Ask the mothership for a new heart or ask John to 3D print you one. ?
You were all struggling for a discussion topic this week weren’t you?
nope
Good to see and hear you @dignity.
I have thoughts of if he’s in an accident @brennon he’ll come out of his van like a shite monster similar to the soldiers in Kelly’s hero’s.
Great show guy’s, didn’t know Justin was so ill being cut off from the world for a month.
I’ve taken hobby on holiday with me, mainly when we’ve been traveling to China because the flights are so long and there’ll been a long gap at one of the airports between flights.
I’ve always had small card based games, and one or two of the small map books by Loke as well as a carry case with around 12 minis in it. That way I could keep Coco occupued with some gaming when she was younger.
Such an apt name @dignity who has taken on the grim reaper and won… well done Justin ????? https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=tktoOXBmflI
Happy Sunday.
It’s nice to see Justin back and I’m happy to hear he’s doing well. Also those scans were most interesting.
When I travel away from home I really don’t bring any hobby with me at all. The most I’ll do is read a book. I’ve spent some happy times reading books in the wood, especially if it’s a fantasy book, as the environment helps with the imagination and immersion. The paints and miniatures can wait until I’m home.

HAPPY PYJAMA DAY!
I remember flying once and my plastic glue exploded in my luggage and melted the face off a bloodbowl human. I turned him into a nurgle player.
Last year’s holiday I took some stuff to assemble: mine and Mrs SG’s. I did hers, couldn’t find time to do mine. They’re still in the box
Happy to see you back Justin.
I am with you Jerry, I find it very to keep the patches alight.
Welcome back Justin, another great XLBS. I’ll never look at chewing gum tubs the same way again.
Good to see @dignity safe and well, just think of all the extra plastic crack you could spend your cigarette money on now. It’s not an easy habit to break and you really have to do it when you are ready to rather than because being pressured into it. 15+ years for me now and I’ve never looked back. The hardest part was that I would treat cigarette breaks as a reward. I’ll just paint these then I’ll have a cigarette. or I’ll mow the lawn then have a cigarette. That and I felt like I needed to do something with my hands. I ended up getting a couple of metal ball bearings to roll around in my hand, just to take my mind off it. It seemed to help with me feeling a bit fidgety. Anyway. Glad you are okay Justin. I am sure you can achieve it when you are ready to.
@lloyd How about naming the Slingers Salvador and Dali? I was going to say Bill and Ted, but not very Spanish really.
Thanks for the Golden Button, a very nice surprise. I am currently trying to take stock of the ridiculous about of stuff I have that seems to be consuming our house. Congrats to the other winners. Love the walking dead comic book feel.
@avernos Love the idea of deep dives into games etc. Really enjoy hearing tactics and the whys and what Fores of list building. The terrain you recently re-spruced up for conquest is awesome. So far, the conquest vlogs have had an excellent mix of stuff as have the Blood and Plunder vlogs. List building, painting, terrain etc. More the merrier I say.
Great show as always, just the thing to watch and listen too whilst painting away.
Have a great trip @brennon and I look forward to seeing your vacation hobby results.
painting on holiday is fine and relaxing but it can get very stressful very quickly. i used to paint whilst i was at sea in the Navy and had a cantilever toolbox full of paints tools figures etc. never once did i expect any problems then i had to fly from Bahrain to Dubai to get a Hercules home after a gulf deployment. As my luggage went through the X ray machine i was suddenly surrounded by lots of gun wielding Arab gentlemen because my hobby box looked very suspicious with all the paints showing up like cells of a bomb i was later informed.
Under gunpoint i shakily opened the token suitcase padlock and proudly thrust a painted mini under the nose of the lead gent who just gave me a rather bland look. even when i produced a unpainted mini next to the completed the look stayed the same and my attempts to mime my hobby just got even blander stares. this carried on for what seemed an embarrassing eternity until and English speaking chap arrived, id like to say things got easier but i had to repeat the process another time arriving in Dubai. i had a sneaky suspicion that miniature painting and Warhammer wasn’t very huge in the Arab states back in the early nineties.
important thing to note though all my minis arrived safely home in the UK, i wasnt shot in the process and i still have that toolbox today.
Bosco is a bollox!!!!
Welcome back Justin and great news they found out what was wrong with you, well the physical issues…..
Oh Reaaaaaaally Michael *tilts head* you’ll be taken through the magic door and fed to some suicidal lions in the phoenix park zoo!
Great to see Justin back and on the road to recovery. Quitting smoking is hard, just need to take one day at a time but you’ll get there. And once you do quit, you feel a lot better and a lot wealthier – think of all those extra miniatures you’ll be able to buy!
Bit late in watching this episode, but great to see Justin back.
Thanks very much for the Button. You were right about the bases being a texture paste (AK Sandy Desert) followed by a drybrush. The models are on a sample bit of lino. I found that some flooring companies will send out small cuts of samples free of charge, and had an idea that it could be made into a nice floor for a temple, or just for taking photos on.
Outside bad, stranger danger.
