Listening to that velvet smooth voice on the unboxing makes me think of the Greatest MOvie ever Made.
What’s in the box!?
more soldiers with guns 😉
My first impression where that the main difference between these 3 sets is the weapons and heads.
I am going to have fun building/painting these!
I think the mercs are my favourite, followed by the crew. The Troopers feel a little boring, but I suspect in the right hands they could paint up amazingly, as a referencfe to some 70s scifi show or other, or perhaps with some sort of wild punk scheme.
troopers could function as Imperial Guard 😉
I think the most ‘boring’ part is the simple fact that they’re all standing on two legs.
A prone or kneeling body type would have given just a tiny bit of extra in these sets.
Fantastic set of kits, as ever. Looks like you could easily use bits from Bolt Action infantry sprues as well for even more flexibility. Definitely going to pick up some of these.
These are great kits. So many kitbashing possibilities! I do like the mercenaries box the best with all of its versatility. Great unboxing!
If I buy, it will probably will be the Mercs. I am planning on doing a pulp spin on the game… use some Crooked Dice minis. They have some fun robots/fembots and cylons too.
Nice sets. I’m wondering if you could combine them with the snake men figures?
That’s the beauty of North Star kits (and some of the other plastic kit manufacturers like Fireforge, etc.) they’re all designed to be interchangeable to a great degree. I’ve got some Ghost Archipelago Snakemen bits on a bunch of Frostgrave Cultists to make some Chaos Cultists, etc.
Now I’m looking to take those same cultists into space and mix them with these new Stargrave minis.
awesome, thanks for showing us whats in each box. Now my mind is thinking of what to make
As usual, great unboxing. So many options in those sets, so much other potential with mixing with other Northstar plastics (both Frostgrave and Oathmark). I wonder if they would combine well with the plastic Gunfighter kits coming out from Great Escape Games?
I shall know once my cowboys arrive 😉
Excellent, look forward to hearing about it!
A great looking set of figures for games with plenty of variety of parts to make the squad the players after.
Yes! Space mind flayers and badgers!
All 3 are great but I think mercenaries is the best
I need to pick some of these up at some point.
The mercenaries mixed with some frostgrave cultists and I could have a crew of reavers from firefly.
Kitbashing goodness.
Really enjoyed Stargrave week. Thanks guys.
Ohh god even more plastic Crack I want to throw my money at
Love the way they go together, hope to get some plastic flame throwers in a future box though
Yep. These are immidiately going on the shopping list (well, as soon as I know I didn’t win any). And then to perhaps scrounge up some more options for alien heads from a galaxy far far away…
I really like how all the North Star kits can be combined to make unique characters.
I really love the idea of mixing and matching certain parts with other Northstar minis. It really opens up the possibilities for the crew even more than what is already included on the original sprue (which is a ton)!
Nice sets.
Great variety.
Think I still will 3d print some more options and mix that in as well.
tempted! Merc box looks good. Trying to make use of all the various models I have already though!
The Crew! I need the Crew!!!
I need a chiseler with a monkey wrench!!!
All three sets look great! I’d love to see some combos with the other Northstar sets!
I love the thought of having a sprue from half a dozen kits and just going nuts with it!
Oooh, kinda want there to be more handguns, only because I’d use them in other games. 🙂 But guess it doesn’t make sense to include them in these boxes. Great kits none the less.
Nice prize
Those are some versatile kits! I’d like a few more non-human options, and I do hope we see them in the near future ?
I would like to see this sprue more alien, this is to postapo for my taste,
Great variety! The interchangeability between them is a definite selling point. Nobody showing up with the same minis using these sets!
Thank you that’s the first clear review of these sets I’ve seen most of the others I’ve seen have been blurry
Okay, the box sets have me sold! I like the versatility of mixing and changing out for different crews. Great review Gerry!
Has there been any hints/ talks about future sets?
(How many are there for Frostgrave in total now?)
Such a nice unboxing!
I think the mercenary set is my favorite. I would definitely like to take the mercenary set and the cultist set from Frostgrave and make some space zealots!
Plastic sets look good. Looking forward to game.
Neat!
Sprues look sweet!
I can’t remember the last time I actually had to cut parts off a sprue. It’s been so long.
Those alien heads in the Mercenary box are fantastic!
Great week of content. Thanks
Mercenaries for the win! Loads of aliens running around the galaxy !
Will have to try and mix and match with the frostgrave stuff.
Looking through all the bits In The kits really gets the excitement for building them going!
I love the badger heads, to quote the immortal Mr Badger, thump ’em & thump ’em & thump ’em, preferably with a heavy carbine/ rapid fire gun
The mercenary box looks great, lots of variety and utility!
These sets look fun. Can’t wait to kitbash!
Love these sets.
Looks great
Having all these sets, pluss almost all the plastic sets for Frostgrave, Frostgrave: Ghost Archipelago and Oathmark, is tempting me to make a randomized list of all parts, and then roll up a model to see what I end up with.
I’ve got to say out of the three I’m not keen on the Trooper kit. I think the Mercs kit edges things a bit by having better heads, though I do appreciate the fact that the crew kit has more gubbins that identify a character’s role within the squad
As usual north star miniatures do not disappoint, those are some great looking sculpts
Very thorough unboxing. My pick would be the Troopers but the Crew box are also in contention. Aw heck – looks like all three are actually going on the list. The more the merrier 🙂
The Crew set is great. Solid for conversion work. You don’t often require a ton of heavy weapons throughout a team and are more likely to spend extra mini money on your commanders or specialists anyway. Would be nice to get some of those cool chimp heads and the occasional heavy weapon too. Three great sets.
This rox!
The sets look very interesting with a lot of options for mixing and matching to make an unique crew or opponents.
Alien box set in the future would be great to complement these sets.
Great sets, really like the alien heads, hope we get some alien bodies in the future.
Options to fit lots of sifi backgrounds and huge scope for such an individual looking but themed force, very exciting prospects to fire the imagination.
These are nice sets
Those boxes look good
I love all the little auxiliary arms, like the wrench and tools. I wonder if they all have game effects? Either way, I really like all the items that enhance the narrative of the squad beyond, ‘military squad with military guns’.
Definitely want to get my hands and hobby knife on some of these!
these figures are the LEGO of the hobby!
am curious what the next box of figures will be.
aliens or robots.
I would like to have 1 large robot with different parts in a box that you can personalize yourself ( I can only dream ) .
Nice unboxing guys. Nice to see there are plenty of head options in the boxes.
These are great, and my favourite depends on what I am creating, s they all have unique parts. Main difference between then is the heads if you didn’t have all three for me.
The mercenary box has the squid head and the reptile/ dinosaur ones so it is my favourite, though trooper box with female heads is a close second
A trip to Gerrys cave to see his little men… Really nice looking sprues. North Star have done a great job with these kits.
I enjoy seeing all the different ways people have assembled these boxes.
Mmmm, Stargrave.
Lovely sets of figures there are a lot of options. Pity the posing is a little static
I’m excited to try these 🙂
I wish GW would still make kits like these
Some lovely looking sprues and minis, not got the rule book yet so not up on the squad layout yet. On a side note, i have been on e-bay and bought 4 mixed sprues of frost/stargrave. just going to have a tinker, and kit bash a few minis for fun.
Awesome, thanks for showing us whats in each box.
It’s going to be fun to assemble my minis and painting them! With the gnolls and cultists we got with the Nicstarter, me and my budy are not going to run out of pirates!
Thanks for the vid!
There’s some fantastic potential!
I have the three boxes and love them all. I’m building for both Stargrave and Five Parsecs so the three boxes will be perfect for pirates (Stargrave) – and militia or rival gangs for Five Parsecs. Like all the *grave kits they are so dashed useful. I’ll probably run out of troopers first and expect to need another box soon. Great kits!
Nice sets.
Love making mods and bitting out these style of figures. Anxious to see what they scale like with some of the other ranges.
They look like fun minis to build
Nice looking kits, I’ve saved a few heads from my snake-men and gnolls to add to my stargrave crew for a bit of variety :).
Thanks Gerry. I have all these boxed sets, yet to be opened. Love the variety of alien heads available. Great that the parts in the boxes are interchangeable, meaning the flexibility is considerable. I can think of lots of uses for these even outside of Stargrave.
I can see the appeal of getting a variety of the kits to mix and match. Pretty good sci-fi mini’s in general, even if you might not be playing Stargrave with them.
Love the sprues,so much choice and can mix them up so well together.
Great kitbashing opportunities.
Seeing the contents is helpful to decide
Some nice models in there. I like the fact that you can mix these up across the sets for greater customisation, particularly if you add in the Frostgrave miniatures
They are most excellent boxes
These kits are impressive
I love the mercenaries
