@warzan I use Paypal a lot for exactly the same reason. If I get scammed, (which doesn’t happen much these days, thank God), I can fall back to Paypal to possibly get some satisfaction hopefully.
.
Oh boy..love me some B5! Story by J. Michael Straczynski, CGI by Amiga, and the NEWTEK Toaster! I was such a B5 nerd that I even made a B5 uniform, (the black one they changed to after they defied Earth Gov), to wear at SciFi conventions, (that’s back when I was skinny). Now I can only cosplay ‘Fat Thor’. 🙂
@avernos when I bought the game ‘B5 Wars’ I bought the larger minis. Of course, while watching this show, I now find myself looking at the minis in Fleet Action. I don’t believe I have any of the larger minis left after all these years. So I am tempted to grab ships in the Fleet Action size. If you have any info as to about how many ships are needed for ‘A Billion Suns’, can you suggest if I need more than one ‘(insert name of faction) Miniatures Complete Set’? I’d hate to overbuy but by the same token hate to underbuy as well.
Well done to the Golden Button winners!
I am starting a project specifically for that. I’ll do a post later on ship classes and numbers for ABS
Thanks much! ??

starting the discussion, yay…up late
Great show and thoughtful ending. It was a long time since i watched but it was a favorite. Don’t make shows like that anymore.
Happy Sunday Everyone!
Happy Sunday Cogs!

Lovely golden button work! Anyone else awaiting your Infinity Defiance rewards arriving soon, clear your hobby desk, stock up on superglue and dig out those fine files and tweezers!
Some sad news for all fans of Babylon 5 from this week.

About 12 hours after we finished filming. I’ve added a bit to my project since.
For you Gerry

Yes, sorry to see Mira Furlan pass.
Man alive, Warren!! That hobby area looks more beautiful every time I see it. Serious kudos to you Sir. …. (and no; it wasn’t just the full beer fridge)
It’s the XLBS crackjacks YAYYYYYYYYyyyyyyyy
What about a curtain to hide the shelves? @warzan
Babylon 5 was ****ing great. Joe Strascynski is a godsdamned genius for what he accomplished with that show. And modern serialized tv shows owe such a debt to B5 for showing that it could be done. Just a shame that the cast seems near cursed with a large number of the core cast having passed away, many of them quite suddenly, most recently Delen herself Mira Furlan in the last couple of days. I think a rewatch may be in order.
Oh, and on a lighter note, if you want a feel for B6-styled space combat with relativistic physics, I highly recommend either I-War or I-War 2 – both available from GOG, tweaked for modern PC’s, and rather than a fighter you command a 200-metre Dreadnought-class corvette (the original cgi intro to the first game is still epic over 20 years later)
I didn’t know that Mira Furlan had died. That was a surprise.
I remember when the two new extended ‘The Lost Tales’ episodes were released ten years after the final series had been broadcast and there was already a small list of absentees that were ‘exploring beyond the galactic rim’ and what have you.
Have you tryed the instant hot water kettles may be cheaper Guy’s
God dammit! Am I going to have to watch B5 for a 6th time now? I’ve got so much other stuff I’m trying to catch up on!
Happy Sunday everyone from a snowy Wales. Lovely Golden Buttons today and great show ?
Great work with the DIY @warzan! Edge lighting for LEDs looks awesome. I’ve never actually tried it with glass, but with translucent acrylic sheets, not only does edge lighting look great, but you can (laser) engrave onto the surfaces, and the light shines out from the engraved area. Would be interesting to see if engraved edge lighting works on glass – imagine something like a necron army standing on a fancy engraved, glowing, illuminated shelf…
Ooh Gerry is doing a wild Gerry tribe.
More than one
Lol Gerry is the new Spartacus?
Never, ever fall for the Facebook ads! Those of us who have, only ever do it once. Mine was the super-cool DM “secret message” pens that disappear when you expose them to heat (the Facebook advert showed a hiroglyph message that the DM passed a candle over and the extraneous ink disappeared, exposing the secret message). I thought it was a really nice idea for sending stuff to my little nephew in the post. £28 for a single pen. But worth it to see his funny little face when the “magic happened”.
After three weeks, I’d still not received my super-cool, expensive-but-worth-it magic pen. Nick popped out to the shop (for some eggs and bread) and came back with a set of Frixion pens, £7 for 5. Exactly the same thing!
You not stealing it’s a tribute fleet @avernos
What about getting ships from B5 wars for your carrier’s Gerry?
too large, I considered one for a dreadnought but in the grand scheme of things they are fine the way they are
Ooh ok worth a try.
The great thing about the knights is that the Lord’s were constantly falling out with each other so you can have wee battles of knights fighting for their Lord’s
Nice one guy’s
And another of the B5 crew gone R.I.P Delenn.
I think this is the book

that’s the one
If you can find the audio version read by Edmund Dehn it is far better than the one read by Jonathan Keeble
For info the one read by Tim Pigott Smith is the abridged version
the first one is Jonathan Keeble narrating @torros
m not sure if the four of them are the full book but this is the second half of the Excalibur novel

A nice send off there at the end for Mira Furlan.
@lloyd Voyevoda is a rank of state/king/duke administration leader for certain area (at the level of province in Ireland). The title is still used in Poland – ask your wife.
Will do 🙂
00:00 planting TP? They should start beer trees!
01:00 Jupp…. I too keep forgetting things and… what did I want to say? HAPPY SUNDAY!
03:00 Praise be Nuffle!
04:00 Ok…. so the bright light at the end of the tunnel… is @warzan …. can I get of the train please?! XD
09:00 Nice fridge… like the ones we used to have at our heavy metal birthday parties XD
10:20 Warren you might want to look at the “best before” dates on the cans… would be a shame if they were wasted before someone could get wasted on them
16:45 “I should have enough space…” oh sweet summer child… in this business for so long and still so optimistic XD
22:00 Moons….. oO
23:45 welcome to the world of wish.com XD
26:30 @brennon dying of laughter *g*
30:00 filtharmyparade (at least that is what I am told what they are called…)
31:45 Lloyd being the wet dream of every mini manufacturer XD “BUY THEM ALL!”
45:00 All the small things are in focus XD
49:00 insert “let me see you stripped” by Rammstein.
57:00 inersia ftw! 1:01:00 Bolden Gutten time
1:15:00 that a sad note to end on… :S
That was a nice clip to finish on. RIP Mira Furlan
“How much more epic would this be if I had twice the amount of minis?” – standard gamer elephant trap.
Welcome to the club, Lloyd. You’ve been with us forever but welcome!
Thanks for the Button guys, and @warzan, surprisingly there was no airbrush work there, oil paints is new name of the game for me 😉
I’m starting to toy around with oils more myself, although they are getting combo’ed with all manner of other techniques.
Oh, yeah, by all means it is the way to go. Priming (especially with zenithal effect) or base coating is still best done with airbrush and acrylics, similarly eyes and other small details are the task for acrylics, but wherever you need to blend – oils prevail.
Also I found edge highlighting it much easier with oils, you can blend them or erase bigger mistakes and tip of your brush never dries.
Yesterday I re-highlighted (with oils) a mini previously painted with traditional acrylics. I’ll be showing comparison as soon as it dries.
And now we have the Warzan shot: camera tilted 30 degrees.
I heard the news about Mira Furlan earlier this week. But watching that clip back just brought a tear to my eye.
B5 was such an important show to me and I loved those characters so much. So sad how many of the cast are no longer with us.
Also I just got a huge urge to go buy those B5 ships.
Nice episode guys, two main things I took from this were:-
1. @warzan Return of the Jedi picture is slightly higher than the other two. I imagine it won’t bother him but it would me, every time I was in there.
2. @lloyd Yes it is a lovely and yes it was a high-quality image but you failed your own Lloyds rule of three when posting images and photos….where is the back shot formally known as the Lloyd shot. Not sure I can really it call it that anymore after today :'(
Thanks for the show guys, some great stuff and well earned Golden Buttons today from some of the regulars.
Happy hobbying everyone!
Jerry, I painted panel lines in the past,( no longer ago than that), on enamel paint. I found that the lines disclosed over a period of six months, the only ones that stayed black were painted using a drafting pen and Indian ink.
Happy Sunday!
Watching Ben’s silent, energetic laughter on Mute could only have been improved by falling off his chair. I was right there with you @brennon.
@lloyd ah, words all of us have spoken,” What a great looking force. So glad I am finishing/have finished such a great looking force… wouldn’t it be cooler if I doubled it!” All CoGs really are connected on a great, cosmic sprue of inspiration and intention. I’ve really tried to focus all my shopping to my cabinets and garage as, like Gerry, I have a vast collection of toys from throughout gaming history.
@warzan you are still a bit giddy from building such wonderful space if you are forgetting that a gamer’s collection will always grow to just bigger than the space they have. I will say that should take a long time given the amount of space you have but then I have also witnessed the changes in space at OTT headquarters over the years. No matter what, looking forward to watching your gamer cave evolve.
Happy Sunday…….i was such a fan of Babylon 5…but now sad to hear of the loss of Mira Furlan…
Your gaming room looks most excellent. I would recommend putting doors on the shelves of the gaming table. The would prevent people from accidently kicking what is on the shelves.
@avernos You’ve got me to buy way too many B5 minis! I’ve been tracking down the books but now I have a place to find the minis! RIP Delenn
then my work here is done
I bought the Earth Alliance and Centari fleets (I had a few of them already) and my friend is getting Minbari and Vorlon. Now the question is what rule set to use? A Call to Arms, B5 Wars or Thousand Suns?
I have B5 Wars and it’s a terrific system if complex, A Billion Suns is certainly simpler but a different kind of game and it will be worth a look in Feb, my project will cover using my ships for ABS, although maybe I’ll print out some B5 Wars as well in the future. https://www.beastsofwar.com/project/1596912/
Is Code Busters no more? Never saw an answer from the last one in November.
I shall remind him
I’ve been looking for a reason to reread the winter King… Even though I said I’d never join a book club I’m in
damm @lloyd why did you not ask your wife she is Polish! 😀 its wojewoda – local chieftan – its not some famous character its nameless leader like – vampire count hhehehehe
Great show as always, @warzan nice looking gaming area mate, I may have to bring my swag to sleep in if we can ever travle again.
@avernos, you do realise that at some point you will require 2 Drazzi fleets, 1 Purple, and 1 Green
PURPLE!!
GREEN !!!
or Ivanova….. not sure now
