Are you sure this is meant to be here?
It was proof! The XLBS is in fact not filmed on a Sunday! 🙁
It was the post write up and not the vid 😉
OH MY GOOD. I fell into a time hole while i was sleepinp and lost a whole day
WoW……it’s the XLBS already??? Happy Sunday CoG’s?
(I feel a little bit like Dorthy, getting to see behind the curtain of the Great and Powerful OZ) (and I’m from Kansas so I should know). ??
As for what I’ve been working on……
1)My Uboat 28mm project……..(plus two side projects that involve UBoats of different scales)
2)Two DBA armies……………(I blame @warzan for opening that care package of goodies with DBA rules that were inside)
3)Clash of Spears units……..(@avernos convinced me that only metal spears will do!)(I’m on my second box of bandaids)
4)Burrows and Badgers forces…(because my wife was sad that @brennon finished all his B&B minis)
We have truly hit the time warp section of the lockdown. Time has no meaning now. Saturday is Sunday.
where has my Sodding Saturday gone? 😛 I wanted to paint tanks and make cookies!
Balls I am in work tomorrow, I thought it was only Saturday. Best get my s**t together!
No it’s not, u bunch of Cultists lol 🙂
Please don’t be anything like Stephen Nolan or Hugo Duncan and it will all be good.
Happy Sunday!
This week I have been mostly working and recovering from work, but slowly progressed 15 T64 tanks. Might see if I can finish them today.
Solved!
A bit elementary my dear @warzan.
Warren your painting looks great.
I always tell people the same thing about painting.
Do what you can and as long as you are happy with it, that what counts. Don’t listen to the people who critique just to critique and take in what you can from the positive critique.
Look at other things but don’t compare to much because you don’t know where they came from and how far they have progressed compared to you but learn or get ideas where you can.
Paint as much as you can but if you feel like it’s getting annoying or stressed, stop otherwise you might make it worse and loose interest in painting.
Warrens Pirate radio, in a few years time they could make a film about it, possibly staring Henry, though I’m not sure that the shed that rocked has the same ring to it?
Ben those little stuffed toy minis are amazing, I wonder if you can just get the minis or do you have to buy a boxed game?
Jerry talking about tin bitz, I was looking at an old paint pot of it, now sadly dried out, thinking but wait Jerry it is real I have one here, for some reason he didn’t seem to respond as I was shouting at my screen he was wrong . . .
Lloyds Spray montage, was brilliant, though I have to ask how do you explain to the photographer what it is you need photographing? Curious to know how that conversation goes down.
Starring which Henry? Henry the vacuum cleaner? 😉
@warzan Sorry to say you will not see Affleck as Batman again he has said he was done. The Synder cut is what we should have gotten but Zack Synder left Justice League due to a family tragedy and they got Joss Whedon in to finish it and that was why we got moustache gate (Henry Cavill was filming MI7 and they wouldn’t let him shave for the reshoots is the story). The next batman is the movie called The Batman by Matt Reeves (who directed Cloverfield and the last film he did was War for the Planet of the Apes), the film is starting Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. The Henry Cavill news was more to do with cameo’s as WB is having an issue writing Superman so the rumours are he might show up in Black Adam which stars Dwayne Johnston. WB/HBO max has said they will not be getting the actors back for reshoots for the Synder cut so the 30 million dollars is for finishing the movie. As for the WB DCEU is dead as they have said they are not interested in a linked universe due to the issues with the movies like BvS and Justice League. However, with the box office of success of the Joker (wasn’t a fan) they are more looking at individual films. The more interesting news was based around Spiderman that the talk is that Charlie Cox is going to be playing Matt Murdock in the new film, so he could be returning as the character he played on the Netflix Daredevil show.
Midnight hobby time might be the way forward with the weather getting warmer. I can’t stand hot weather….. ?
Twinkies in knickers? DO NOT GOOGLE THAT!
Pirate radio, like it, as i have your weekend shows on when painting… maybe we can call it “The seaman hour”…?
@warzan I went to the same place with Bens’ “Period”. I also remember when he first started the embarrassed blush and fart faces he made when you went to the dark places, sign of his getting used to you is the speed at which he came back at you. 🙂
@warzan talking about radio took me back to my first job in the media as. a technician on a radio station lol.. . we had the brainwave to do live interviews with local rock bands on the evening show.. one groups called the 500 Hojas turned drinking beer and well the interview was just out of control lol. with one of them swearing on air… after that we pre-recorded the interviews. The idea was to have a live interview followed by a live set of them doing 3 or 4 songs.. lol…I learnt a valuable lesson; never trust rock musicians to behave, its like working with kids and animals… unbloody predictable
Cracked the code within 2 minutes of hearing it. Good luck all.
Radio BoW section, Dear Warren: I enjoy double fisting games, do I have a problem or is this normal???
Warren’s Pirate Radio …
Is that going to feature : “Warren meets mat (the ASMR edition)” ?
😉
Airbrush Priming vs Rattle Can
You know airbrush priming is much much cheaper in the long term, right? You pay £10 for a rattle can and it lasts 5 minutes. You pay £10 for Vallejo 200ml primer and the same again for thinner and that lasts what feels like a year, and thats with me painting north of 300 minis a year. How many rattle cans will you use in that time frame? Assuming you’re gonna be priming minis for years an airbrush pays for itself just on the savings you make on rattle can primer, and that’s without us talking about varnishing too.
You don’t need to think about using an airbrush for doing anything beyond that for it to be worth picking one up. Then you factor in that you can do it indoors all year round with minimal precautions (I spray in my bedroom in to a cardboard box wearing one latex glove and a dust mask), and you can apply one even base coat in no time at all with no skill and it become a godsend.
(Any chance we can get a slider to appear down the side for these text boxes when we type enough to fill the box up?)
This, so much! And not just priming, varnishing is so much easier and safer with an airbrush. Never worry about frosting again.
I have found that priming and varnishing with the cleaning involved has taken its toll on my medium range Iwata airbrush, so have purchased a £20 cheap one from a well known online retailer for those jobs.
If we’re doing old skool paints can we have a piece on Titillating Pink?
Ooooher! Pirate Radio, with Captain Warzan Hook, Mister Smee Avernos. Ben the Crocodile and Lloydy Pan.
Could work…..but Wednesday, in normal times thats club night.
Happy Sunday!
So, a radio show? On Discord? Hmm – I’m not a fan of Discord anyway, I just find it clunky. But that is just me, so that’s fine. I’d be interested to see how you have images on the radio…..surely that’s just television?
As for music – I would love to hear you playing the best of the Irish bands – Picturehouse. At least once.
And the Lloyd and Rattlecan scenes just made me laugh so hard! I had to pause the show so I didn’t miss anything!
you misspelt Kerbdog
Regarding the Pandemic I am of the firm conviction that Grandfather Nurgle has sent it, because he wants me specifically to finish my painting Death Guard army. So there wont be any getting back to normal, before your are able to post the Mortarion I ordered ;). No worries guys I understand why it is taking its time. And I am sure Nurgle himself will do everything in his power to expedite the deliveries. Unless this is some weird circular logic warp problem going on…
Great show guys.

@warzan this is a great band, very small and new. They do Napoleonic (mostly Peninsular) Rock/Metal, the Sharp practice British I sent you guys are based on the Irish 87th from this song.
Also anyone wanting authentic, legit Vietnam Radio should check out Dave Rabbit, the guy was high af in the back of a Whore House telling people where the MP’s were headed, advertising discounted Brothels and telling people where not to buy Heroine. The guy is crazy.
Wow those spiders fit perfectly in 15mm very good instincts to use them, I envy your wolves my friend that contrast is borderline magical.
Friday was actually the Feast of Saint Joan too so a good time to be painting some Joan of Arc.
Everyone should join the House of Water, we got to look at those psycho rabbits ahead of time, all the cool stuff happens in our house.
Happy Sunday All ?
Happy Sunday all.
Happy Sunday to one and all.
Going off the title for today, the most terrifying bunny is the Rabbit of Caerbannog.
@warzan looking for indie music for your pirate radio show? There has to be some musicians on here – we could do a “virtual jam” and send it in. Failing that, I’ll have a word with my mate Elwood and tell him we’re putting the band back together…

GOOD MORNING XLBS GAMMERS.
Ooh this is going to be fun I’ll post you some video for you @warzan about radio ideas if others don’t beat me to it.

jesus lol
@warzan Have you tried the rubber band method to help with your shaking hands? https://youtu.be/uO3Qt8XIAws?t=282 is a good video to show it off, the humour at the start isn’t great so that link goes straight to the tip!
Thanks for that I will give that a try!
? Was the theme for cell block H ?
What about wolf spiders?
A shelob army.
I would like to congratulate the editor for such sterling work, the Goodies and Monty Python scenes were most welcome.
@lloyd is smashing XLBS these days 🙂
I loved building castles in the stronghold game.
happy sunday
I have just seen the XLBS good idea of the radio broadcast, but you can still listen to it afterwards (work is in the way ?).
finally finished my 15mm fantasy army.
after seeing the xlbs i heard what you said to Ben about the bases and that’s what i did for my figures ? use washers as bases, cork, sifted bird sand, cork peat and grass tufts made by myself (i still feel it flockbox uses 9v batteries ?) and a self made wash an experiment that finally worked out (usually it turns out to be a disaster) ?
if you want to see them i put some picture on dicord.
cuckoo from ? and ? from me
The blood eye red eye’s rabbits of doom.? @avernos
Send the tanks to John lyons @lloyd ?
Hilarious Show Guy’s loving the banter.
Well that Code Busters thing was…. a very long shoot in Blood Bowl
Happy Sunday another brill show lads and yes Warren agree with you on the format be a shame to change it mate it works.
What was that about “giving away a studio pallet”? 😉
Good morning and happy Sunday all ~
I was catching up on recent XLBS episodes and ran across Gerry’s mention of the research done for 9th Australian at the outset of the siege of Tobruk.
Thanks very much for the mention guys! Super-appreciate it!
Reminds me to get back on my 1941 Bolt Action Germans from the Desert War Boot Camp. Those minis have been 75% done for the better part of the year, I gotta get ’em across the finish line!
I’ll be watching @avernos ‘ project with interest, definitely looks like he’s made great progress so far!
We’ll be streaming Panzer Leader with the community live today at 7PM UK / 2PM East US time. We hope to have a new Panzer Leader player from the community with us, and introduce him in detail to this “command tactical” classic.
A small, entry-level scenario of a rare “tank on tank” meeting engagement that took place when elements of 4th Panzer Division (XVI Motorised Corps) ran into 3rd DLC (Division Legere Mechanique – part of Prioux’s Cavalry Corps) in central Belgium.
The French couldn’t often meet the Germans on equal terms during the May 1940 campaign, but this was one of the exceptions!
We hope to see some of you there.

I nearly pissed myself laughing at the montage of Lloyd and his spray can. More loving montages of the OTT crew and their favorite hobby tools.
I feel like not enough people are giving @lloyd credit for that amazing photo montage in the middle of the show.
I cracked up.
Well played
Happy Sunday!
Thanks for the golden button.
I do like the idea of using 1/72 (or 1/76 which you think equates to 20mm) for playing Bolt Action in
15mm is a great scale.
It would be great to get a whole fantasy army that could be printed.
I would printing in 15 mm. Fight against historical armies.
Elves vs Romans, Orcs vs Greeks.
Would be great fun. Just waiting for a 3d kickstarter that does an army in stead of hero miniatures.
Great show guy
s, im loving the look of the shows. The split screen works really well, and now also gives Ben an opportunity to see what the rest of you are showing. The radio show is a great idea, and i think will bring @warzan a little closer to the cogs at large.I only have one gripe about to days show, and that
s at brother Lloyds treatment of a poor defenceless mini. It did not choose to be a multipart kit, it had no control over its development. As for his question on "who has time to make a kit full of bits” the answer is simple “I DO”. So if brother Lloyd would be willing to let it go, i would be willing to give it a loving home.Just when you think Ben has got used to Warren’s comments 🙂
Pirate radio talk and plagues..hmm. Black Flag!!!! No banter, no barter, no quarter! Ok, the serious not out of the way regarding Bubonic plague, its still around and in my area it still ravages the prairie dog population with the occasional jump to a rabbit or squirrel (sorry to tell it @avernos them’s the breaks).
*blink blink* O_O @lloyd Did you just share the photos of your intimate moments with your Wraithbone can that aren’t on you Onlyfans page? I think the Twinkie story might be tame by comparison now but the segue into how you’ll be painting you bony cock could take the cake.
Then came @warzan , or his announcement of his movie boner, and @brennon delivering the double fisting by himself. I think this isolation situation has lead to much frustration and consternation which might come to some alleviation by means of the application of some copious pigmentation to bare naked minis. *sigh… headshake* It’ll all be ok guys.
This social distancing will end. In the meantime a care package IS inbound and ‘one day’ will arrive. One parcel has touched down on the islands in the UK and has spread joy to a lucky member who’s popped onto the unofficial Weekender occasionally. Pundancer, as mod to the UnWeekender, has yet to be given his parcel by the fine German postal system which we have agreed is probably being boiled and set under a UV lamp to dry/cure. I hope that your postal service just lets it sit for a little while and not boil it like fine British cuisine for most any meat.
Belated happy Sunday from me. On a Monday.
I love the idea of a streamed Discord radio show, but I have to point out that I’m usually on the way to/getting ready for work when it’s 8pm in Belfast. Might *might* it be possible to podcast the show also, so those of us in the home of the ANZAC biscuit can “join in”.
Well this episode was a classic, enjoyed all the tom-foolery!
Great to see you painting Warren. Skeletons look decent.
Happy tuesday CoGs!
Congrats on some paintings @warzan ! and stealing your bro’s tin lol
Thanks for the vid guys, had a blast to finish the day 🙂
