Been looking forward to this
I really like the Leopard main battle tank, both the mk1 and mk2. It has been and is the main tank in the danish army and have seen action in the Kosovo conflict.
I look forward to see where this game goes…and it seems to be a Flames of War game type with more movement (as these tanks have gyrostabilised turrets enabling them to easily fire on the move) and more accurate firepower (those 120mm guns are just punchy!).
Also it gives me the excuse to get some new roads and buildings and small civil cars for my terrain collection! Whats not to like?!?!
Ooo small civ cars, that is a good idea. We need something like that for our terrain. Has anyone got any suitable suggestions?

Great first look at the FRG forces. We still haven’t gotten ours here in the USA, but I’m using my refreshed interest in the game (not that it had waned much) to finish up my Soviet and US forces before the leopard wave starts to arrive.
Really excited about all the Team Yankee Leopard content that’s coming out this week!
Also: That NATO camo is going to make these very easy to paint. Airbrush ahoy!

Great range of models but were are the soviet mine layer munitions I found nothing in the rule book for the soviet options to the artillery or any other way of putting mines down or have I missed it .
Ah, yes. Another batch of western capitalist vehicles to be crushed with my Workers Revolution. No western tank can withstand my 125mm tank shells and live to tell the tale!
This looks like it might just become popular! 🙂

PAH – Panzer Abwehr Hubschrauber but written in only one word… means Panzerabwehrhubschrauber or in English Anti Tank Helicopter.
It seems that I’m getting used to the butchering @dignity allways do with german words.
But one thing I recognized that the Roland is titled as a FlaK. It is not. It is a FlaR or FlaRak… because it has rockets (Raketen) not cannons (Kanonen) like a Gepard (Cheetah). Officially it is a Flugabwehrraketenpanzer or FlaRakPz…
The tornado looks awesome, I just hope the wings do change geometry…
Germans have always had very nice equipment, much better than the British. I was in the British Army in the 80’s and the strategy for NATO forces was to sacrifice Germany and hold the Soviets on the French border. Also I remember a German armoured regiment that was based in Wales!

I saw infantry on the table but they weren’t brought under close cam. Will the Germans have their own Infantry models?

The models are very nice. You get a full hobby experience building and playing Team Yankee.
Can’t wait for more armies and units to come out. M2 Bradleys, Humm Vees, Chinooks, Harriers, there is a wealth of equipment out there yet to be touched upon.

Waiting for British for my NATO force but don’t know wether to jump in now with some Soviets to tide me over. Would 3rd Shock army have T72’s or should I keep waiting for T64’s and T80’s?

No my German faction (I’m an East German “fan”), but I like how these look. Would like to see the infantry stands.
They have several BTR models in other games – time to roll out the WP and Category B units!!!!! DO IT!

I liked the American miniatures but found I was waiting for the German Forces to be released, love the Leopard II’s and great they have the Leopard I as well. The rest of the German forces look good as well, worry about my wallet now.

Beautiful models (Gepard twin 35mm John 🙂 )
Luchs – how could you not mention that it has 2 drivers, allowing it to drive at 90kmh on roads in either direction (handy when you are a recon unit and have to get outta Dodge when the brown stuff hits the fan). And it is fully amphibious.
Gepard – the 35mm guns (John :)) fire SABOT rounds with a muzzle velocity of 4700 feet per second – that is 800 feet per second faster than the WW2 17pdr just for comparison.
Great interview guys. Really liking the plastic and resin sculpts. I can’t wait to face against them with my soviets. By the way where did you guys get the t-shirts from? How can I get one (or maybe a couple for my friends).

I like the new West Germans BUT why a separate book? Consider that IF other factions like the British are indeed in the pipe, then that will be ANOTHER book. I’m absolutely fine with Team Yankee ( entirely based on the novel) and ONE other book ( going beyond the novel).
But for only $20 for the expansion, what am I really complaining about?
Really tempted by this, would like to try some Twilight 2000 warming, need some partisan forces after the British, I would also live to see French forces with AMX30’s and 13’s, and VAB’s
Didn’t play Team Yankee … but with those ,i guess i’ll have no choice but to start now.

i hope they’re going to make a Scandinavian kinda faction at some point. Would be a good mix of american and german stuff for the Danish.
I just love the German army, they have all the best toys.
The German stuff looks so sci fi… its quite interesting conceptually. Same design philosophy as the Nazis before in a way. Really good, high end tech that was way too expensive.

Those are some mean looking tanks. But my favorite model is without a doubt the little copter that could.
The M109 is a pretty dam good piece of kit, I served with the Royal Artillery on them in Germany and the Gulf War
Absolutely fantastic!
The Germans look like the high quality force that I always pick, but I always get washed away by the “Quality of Quantity” forces.
The kits look absolutely amazing. As a long time fanboy of BFs miniature I have to say, they really upped the ante on these. Compared to some older kits these are breath-takingly good. Even compared to some of the newer plastic kits (like the Pz IV with the 4 panel Schürzen :P) they seem another step foward. Very glad to see this.
Also you’re pronounciation of German is not that bad. And “Panzerabwehrhubschrauber” (PAH) is not the easiest word. Thumbs up!

I already have a large soviet force and bought the American starter force to tide me over until the Brits came out but now I’m thinking combined arms!
A lot of Canadians have been looking forward to this release. We still use Leopard 1’s and Leopard 2’s. We were really holding out for a Leopard 1 list, but it doesn’t quite look that way (as we didn’t get the Leopard 2’s until 2007). Hopefully in the future.
I have never really thought about the modern wargames but this looks very, very good. Might have a think about trying this one out, but there are far too many games I’ve said I might try it out recently.

I haven’t seen a single bad miniature in this entire range thus far, but the West Germans have just takein it to a whole new level. The Gepard is just stunning.

I have to admit, the more stuff that comes out from Team Yankee, the more I like the idea of alt-history WWIII done 80’s style.
Great looking armor, tough to not be inspired.
The Leopard 2 are defenatly great models and very easy to build and paint. I did get the starter set and the helicopters are very nice as well. I’m really waiting for a Dutch list, but I will settle for the Germans for now. A lot of the German hardware was used in the Dutch defense force as well. The only thing that I really need is a YPR infantry fighting vehicle. I guess I have to play Germans and wait a bit longer.
Love the Cold War setting, FOW has just been getting better and better, looking to see more german units!
The german stuff looks so cool, especially the support vehicles. Much like the Russians there is a lot of good variety with the support vehicles. It leave the Americans looking plain. I wish the Americans had the bradley’s as support instead of the M113’s.
The models are just incredible cool. I’m not so much into the cold war era but I think I’ll have to pick up some Leopard IIs for painting.

These simply are beautiful models. I don’t really like recent historical wargames, but the alternate history side of Team Yankee is really appealing.

This is what I have been waiting for, and what a lovely collection of “German Armour”. I’m loving the mine layer, it’ll be the fall of many opponent’s tactics. Can’t wait to get my hands on the starter box set.
