Ooh, what fun!   Here goes…

1) If you had to play one game for the rest of your life what would it be?

Cheaty answer: 40K. For the setting and the diversity of the models. But I would probably repurpose someone else’s rules and/or make my own.

2) How did you learn of BOW and how why did you become a member of the team community?

Can’t remember… Browsing the internet, came across some Weekenders and wanted more – and realised that as White Dwarf was so awful at the time that I was willing to pay a magazine subscription price to get the kind of content I wanted from a hobby magazine.

3) What do you enjoy the most about your hobby?

The storytelling – both the characters and the settings.   Or the community.

4) where would you be if you weren’t working for BOW where you work?

My day job is as a researcher of remote and hostile parts of the world for a medical assistance company. I’m also a District Councillor and political campaigner. Between the two roles I’ve no time to look for anything else!

But I’ve had a string of weird, niche jobs over the years. Whatever I was doing it would be something where I was left to my own devices, fixing problems for my employer.

5) what is your favourite genre to play games in?

Probably science fantasy.   Or a very specific, interesting and different (i.e. not generic) fantasy. Something with an interesting setting with lots of scope for telling stories.

6) what are your job roles within BOW where you work?

Funnily enough, seeing the BoW crew answer the question, I think I’m also a bit of a jack of all trades. I research awkward parts of the world so that we can provide medical assistance and help travellers plan. I talk to clients about what we do.

In politics I do a lot of asking questions on behalf of local residents as well as doing street campaigning and lobbying.

7) what did you do before BOW your current job?

I studied Arabic, designed board games, travelled and partied in Syria. (Before the revolution and the war / counter-revolution / occupation.)

8) favourite all time game?

Probably Dropzone Commander…   Possibly Epic: Space Marine back in the day. Board games I think Pandemic (espcially Legacy) is amazing.

9) what do your co-workers think is your expertise?

Being an expert in all the stuff no one else knows or – generally – cares much about but which is sometimes really important.

10) favourite alcoholic and non alcoholic drink?

I don’t drink very much…   On a hot summer day at a festival I like shandy or a cider of some kind. I like wine and proseco too. Non-alcoholic… has to be coffee!

11) spare time hobby thats not gaming related?

I like walking / hiking.   Also going to talks / lectures / debates about all kinds of stuff.   Sadly I don’t have much time for gaming-related hobby and even less for other kinds of hobbies!

12) what do you think others say is your most irritating trait?

Perhaps coming across as out of touch or uninterested at times.  I could also do with being a lot more organised!

13) can you lick your own nose?

Yes!

14) what do you like the most and hate the most about your job?

It’s varied and I keep up to date with what’s going on around the world.   I dislike that there are sometimes limited opportunities for development.

As a councillor I love being able to do things to help people improve the world around them. I hate not being able to do more / never being able to do enough.

15) favourite candy bar

After Eights.

16) favourite book

Could be the Lord of the Rings.   It’s been pretty influential!   ‘Burning Country’ is an amazing book about the Syrian uprising that is just full of stories about what greatness humanity is capable of (which makes what happened next all the more tragic).

17) favourite pizza

Something with different kinds of cheese, rocket, peppers and other vegetables – although I like meat too.

18) favourite movie

I don’t think I really have one.   Perhaps the Batman Trilogy?

20) who from the BOW would you eat in a zombie apocalypse?

I can’t say I have a strong preference for anyone!
