I use both the GW brown & black stuff quite a lot . When adding it to vehicles , I usually do the vehicle by sections in one coat ( upper hull / left side wheels & track , etc ) . Now it might look like you’ve missed spots and want to add a bit more , wrong move as when dry that area you touched up is really dark . Easier to add shade a layer at time than having your piece end up way too dark and have to repaint everything . I also find its a good idea to make test strips of my paints and add the wash to see how much the color changes , some paint brands ” Panzer yellows & greys ” for example , really change for the worse with the wrong wash added . You can get some neat weathering effects on vehicles by adding the black wash over the brown , or the brown over the black . But testing first is a must .
