As much as I would love to see them, great coated guardsmen, they’ve been a rumour since I was at GW which is almost 20 years now. I don’t think we’ll see those in particular any time soon.

As far as GW being behind the times with the options for their builds @zoidpinhead they’re actually coming at it from the other direction. Multipart kits with a bucket load of options in early to mid 2000s were phased out to make easier to build and more bespoke looking kits. In their eyes they’ve progressed by moving away from those more complicated kits and making plastics that can be assembled in very specific ways to appeal to what they see as their market of “the hobby”. It’s a strange thing, but the old empire soldiers box had more versatility than the last state troopers before they were doubled tapped. When the Imperial Guard get a new plastic I imagine it will be similar to the stormtroopers, a core build with maybe a head swap option if we’re lucky.
