Sounds fun if you don’t care what happens. I’m a tiny bit more money conscious perhaps. I’d be looking to trade out something I’m not going to use for something I might. As an example, I don’t currently play Dreadball, but I went in heavy on a kickstarter. If I traded a full £200 bundle and got 1 unit of 10 WW2 French infantrymen in return I might feel a little disheartened. I’m not saying I’d want £200 back, but a feeling of equivalent hobby value (rather than cash value. A project for a project. A starter set for a starter set), or feeling like I’ve traded something I don’t use for something I will at a fraction of the value. This is one of the reasons I didn’t jump on board this time around.
I’m curious to see how this plays out and how happy everyone is. I don’t know if Gerry is thinking of doing this again or open to the idea, but perhaps next time people PM you what they are looking to trade (System and quantity?) and some ideas of what they are open to without being too specific. For example, “Large Dreadball bundle for any army x, army y, game z, or any starter sets”. I don’t know. Might just be setting people up for too much disappointment while creating a lot of work and a huge headache. I’m just thinking out loud here.
I know this is meant to be gifting and not trading. Perhaps I’m just approaching this with the wrong mindset. Like I said, I’ll be watching this to see how it plays out. I still need to work out what I won’t use.
