@hobbyhub I’m unsure whether it is, so I always have the Queen’s head at the bottom rather than sticking the model on it. At least I can say to the judge, “well at least old Lizzy is not defaced, M’Lord!”
The Royal Mint website states
Under Section 10 of the 1971 Coinage Act – No person shall, except under the authority of a licence granted by the Treasury, melt down or break up any metal coin which is for the time being current in the United Kingdom or which, having been current, has at any time after 16th May 1969 ceased to be so.
Technically I am not melting them or breaking them up so it should be fine. There is probably some law from 1441 that makes it illegal to cover the King’s head and punishable with a night in the stocks though!
