Tbh, my first thought was ‘why would you do that in such a setting’? I was thinking it was maybe a revenge type scenario using themes common in Game of Thrones, Goblin Slayer and other stories. I agree it was bad taste. A life time ban though? That’s way over the mark, especially for volunteer staff!
