Having a thunk about this over the lunch time………
Some quick thought’s
Based on @warzan and OTT crew getting on board and sorting something out around the Kickstarter which is set to be sent out around August next year. (this is only speculating I am not saying its even got as far as a spark in Warrens eyes)
So we would probably be looking at around June/July next year if campaign runs on time (will only know this as year progresses) which has the benefit of over a year for organisation
This would put the period as around the Clan Invasion as this is the kickstarter theme plus if the Star Captain pledge level is the what participant get, each bootcamper gets a base 5 clan mechs plus option for two more boxed sets. Campers could go for inner sphere sets but suggest that then play I.S vs I.S in any bootcamp games(though 2 I.S bootcampers against one Clanner is an option)
Early Inner Sphere against Clan is not really viable unless one player likes being a sitting duck and having to paint twice the mechs.
But Clan vs Clan is a definite option, their are a rich list of Clans to pick from, and the weekend could concentrate after a brief intro to the Universe on the How the clans came about etc.
This helps in that apart from Elementals you are down to just big stompy robots.
You could do games of both traditional (but limit the no of mechs) on hex boards, but for the OOT crew tables go mainly for Alpha Strike with company level size games.
As I said they are only thoughts so anyone can chip in with ideas , but if a bootcamp is the idea , try to keep it to what is feasable for OTT, yup they can do bootcamps but think fighting the whole of Succesion wars and post history may be a bit beyond even them.
One of the themes could be design Captain Alphas Strikes ultimate mech
