Just to throw my two cents in…

I must admit that recently I have been seriously considering canceling my Backstage Pass. It’s not so much the cost. Rather, it’s the current state of OTT.

It seems to me that you have jumped the shark… Gotten too big… Gone mainstream… Sold out…

I’ve been a member long enough to remember the informal atmosphere of Turn 8. Long enough to remember you guys taking a hard stance against Games Workshop and all their nonsense. Long enough to remember you building your first table and painting a Space Wolf with an ungodly amount of drybrushing.

Now though…

I’m sorry… But honestly, the Weekender feels mostly like one long drawn out commercial these days. Rather than talking about what’s going on in the community in general, you focus a lot on products and companies. There used to be a great chemistry between you. Now it’s… Too professional, in a way. Scripted… Controlled… Tailored to the audience…

I really miss the days where you cracked open some beers, sat down in nice comfy chairs, and simply chatted for a couple of hours.

And now that you have your own store… Are you giving us your honest opinion? Or are you simply trying to sell stuff?

I don’t know… Maybe I’m just an angry old grognard, living in the past? Maybe I’m just getting too disenchanted with tabletop gaming in general these days?

But I honestly miss the more amateurish days of Beasts of War. I know it’s not coming back. Grow or die is the usual mantra these days. But right now I’m not sure what Backstage could offer that would make me stay.

Am I even making sense here?
