@deaddave I see a lot of paint chipping in the future with that base coating. I don’t know your plans for color intensity but it might well be brighter than your ships. The amount of rust chipping will darken a red or yellow. Hell, you can punch up the definition with your wash and tone it down like a dirty car. I think the turrets will definitely stand out against the plating if you did them in metallics which you could ease back down with a touch of pigment. Good stuff for showcasing the advancement of Orky tech.

I will throw out small idea on backstory for how it came about. Weirdboyz, masses of them as a colony unto themselves in trying to get away from ” ‘eadbang” created their own moon of a spacehulk. Well, with ruthless kunning, some random freebooter kaptain took it upon himself to use his mekboyz to their utmost potential in attaching other spacehulks around this core of gestalt energy. With time this WAAAAGH! started to get more ‘eadbang going so there needed to be some kunning ruthlessness done for both protection from the Weirdboyz and what they do, so they were sealed off inside the building craft to occasionally be given food as well as new additions of orks found to be a little off like that, while turrets that discharged energy out into space. With so many Weirdboyz collected like this and more energy built as a nearly constant cloud of discharge in fire, not a totally bad thing to have so much killy shooting going on, it did stop so much lootin’ from going on. In order to solve this a great big ring of copper was twisted around the moon in order to bring some sort of stability to the energy which does work… kinda. The one main drawback has been the infrequent blast out of the front which has already obliterated a couple of moons about to surrender to the green onslaught. Greenskins in the throes of battle just can’t calm down quick enough to get the spoils of war sometimes.

Now for music to inspire the thought, if not the horrid vision of, orks clad in Japanese schoolgirl uniforms.
