Ahhh but where do round “lipped” bases stand in your heresy? Ofc the issue is that you can’t rank up round bases (which you can with square ones, AND you can still play skirmish games with square bases), thus your logic is fatally flawed….

….plus “infinite” is a pretty big number and hard to count, whereas four is easier (you’ll notice things like this as you get older) 😀

And a ranked up formation of historical pikemen with wire pikes is probably the most dangerous thing in the wargamers arsenal forming a defence if your opponent should “lunge” for you from across the table when you manage that hail mary dice roll and start doing a Lloyd style “Jammy Dance” (not seen him do that in a long while)
