I ran into the same problem when looking for tables to use.
It’s as if dinner tables never ever are wide enough for wargaming.
The length is something that appears to be possible. Sometimes with ‘extensions’ that can be removed when not in use.
I have not attempted to build my own, because I kind of lack the tools (skills) to do build a wooden table myself.
I did make an attempt at making a small table using the same type of metal tubes as used in scaffolding.
The ‘industrial’ style has resulted in at one local webshop selling the materials required. They even cut the tubing to the required size. DIY stores sell the stuff as well, but because it is ‘trendy’ there’s a chance they might be using inflated prices.
The problem I have is lack of transport for something in tabletop size as I am restricted to public transport.
However once I move house and have space to experiment a bit more. Maybe I need to cheat and build a tabletop out of bits of wood that I can manage to transport ?
Anyways we’re not the only ones with this ‘problem’ :
