Personally I don’t really mind having Pile of Shame. It just means that I won’t be spending money on more miniatures until that Pile of Shame is done or at least gotten smaller. With plenty of miniatures need to be painted (including BT ones that are pre-assembled straight out of box) it’s not really problem.
