I got to a point this year where I felt the hobby was adding more stress vs. relieving it. I thought about quitting entirely, but realised there are parts that I really enjoy and counterbalance my other hobbies well. I started scaling down and eliminating the parts I hated (mainly the collecting and purchasing mania — look for my ”anti-shiny” topic in these forums) from my time spend in the hobby. I’ve also started to think the hobby as seasonal, that is, there is a time of the year I do wargaming and painting and a time when not. Where I live the summer is short and I rather spend it with the outdoor activities I love, painting and playing can wait for the cold and damp autumn/winter.

Overall I spend less time in the hobby, but am happier with it. Less is more in this case.

@ogreblood At least you are getting rid of the hobby stuff when you get fed up. I was never able to do that and ended up hoarding, which just added up to the anxiety. I’m no one to give any advice, but if there’s anything similar from your situation to mine, perhaps trying to make your projects far smaller in scope to prevent burn out.
