I quite liked the cute fit-it-all-in-a-tin idea for ultra portability. But mostly I liked that it’s a game.
It would have been really easy to throw a skin over it and add in loads of unnecessary miniatures and add ons and stretch goals.
But with just a few cards and a few square blocks, there’s no hiding a rubbish game behind a load of cool looking minis. The game itself is everything here, and that’s what I quite like about it.
You have to make a decision on each characters turn and what you decide makes a difference – too many “games” forget this! (and just become stand still and roll dice until one side is eliminated affairs).
I could be very wrong about it, but the play through looked interesting (and at £17 a tin, it’s not the end of the world of it doesn’t turn out to be the best game ever invented). And I think playing the same game on a bigger map with minis instead of square blocks could be good fun. The solo play option is also nice.
