For the last 2 and a bit years I’ve been working towards playing a Fantasy Battle Siege game against myself. I’ve collected two armies, an Empire army made up of North Star, Perry’s, Warlord & FireForge. While the Orcs are a real mix of old hammer, middle hammer, I can’t believe it’s not warhammer (Black Tree Design), some Mantic and a ForgeWorld Rogue Idol (being used as a Giant), plus some other bits and bobs (that I picked up along the way that I liked). I’m using the old Warhammer Fortress, plus some 4Ground buildings, the barricades are some random bits picked up at Salute, plus a few bits from Dungeon Saga. It’s all set up in the mancave/shed. I think it’s about 6,000 or so points of greenskins and about 3,000 points of Empire. Sorry about the unpainted bases and movement trays, but after collecting, building and painting over 9,000  points of forces I couldn’t face doing anymore!

The vague plot in my head is that the Krahestrom Mercenary Allianz (my LARP group) where hired to defend the Border Princes town of Wortani against the orc horde, now trapped alongside the KA is some prospective employers from the Southlands (this is an excuse to use some Saurus Warriors and Snakemen that I picked up).

The command group get their orders. While the Dwarven barstaff, get ready to fight whoever tries to go after the beer.

Trapped while making a beer delivery, some of Dwarves have up ended the cart and make ready to kill greenskins. These are proper old models, that were painted by my younger brother when he was 10 (he was 39 last month).

The guests from the Southlands watch the unfolding fight, wondering if they made a mistake to come here.

The scouts report Zulu’s Sir, thousands of them.

The defenders on the wall, plus backup in the courtyard.

    The view from the wall.

Having partly cleared the wall of defenders, and the cannon having taken a direct hit from a rock lobber, Goblin mooks assault the walls.

After getting bored of waiting the Fimir Lord wades into the wall fight. He batters some poor humans but is shivved up in return.

A troll breaks the gates down and kills the unit leader. The damn thing keeps regening it’s hits, it just won’t die!

That’s the end of day one. Carry on tomorrow, see what happens, but the wall is mostly lost, but as long as the entrance way to the town is blocked the Empire can hold on. If it goes, then it’s onto the 2nd line of defence.
